I'm sorry if I offended you Eliyah by using the English version of your name “EliJAH.” OneSpirit, did you know that I originally told Eliyah why I was using EliJah when I started speaking to him. He said nothing of it and it hasn't seemed to bother him. Since it seemed from the beginning that Eliyah was going to be all about pronouncing God's…[Read more]

Why didn't you simply ask that?In line with Scriptures, we expect very “few” to respond, so it's not as if someone is at “fault” if the listener does not respond.JOHN 15:20-21“Bear in mind the word I said to YOU, A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute YOU also; if they have observed my word, they w…[Read more]

Right.Nick,How should we effectively reach men? Do we really want to bring them to salvation? If so what should we say and when? Does your approach fit with scriptural teaching? Does it make sense? Who benefits with your approach?

You can't seriously be asking me this. And if you are, it's not because you want to know the answer. Despite you not being a Witness, you have several times implied you know more about Jehovah's Witnesses than I do. So why don't I pretend like I don't know the answer to that question and let you answer it, as I have a feeling you'll say what…[Read more]

Could you do it Nick? That's what I've been saying Nick. We have to Obey the commands of Jesus.Heb 5:9, salvation to those 'obeying' Jesus. Faith without works is dead Nick. So why is it every time I mention us doing something, you reply by saying, Yes, but:we must be born of holy spirit. It's as if you're disagreeing with me. But I know you…[Read more]

AT A meeting of the World Council of Churches some 40 years ago, members were urged to “break out in a spirit of evangelism” and to teach their flocks to “go about evangelizing.” Five years later John A. O’Brien, a Catholic clergyman, wrote about the need to bring in new disciples “by going to them” and not simply “by sitting in our homes.” And…[Read more]

Nick, this is the problem with your posts. You often say things very obvious. But since you direct them at a person (me in this case), I feel the need to defend myself. Yet what am I supposed to defend myself against, since I agree with everything you said?Do you think the work we do could be done without the holy spirit?Could you go from door…[Read more]

EliJAH,1. I assume you know the answer to the first question.2. You mean you don't know the answer to question number two?3. Have I ever said it was the more correct transliteration?Listen, I'm not a Hebrew/English linguist. And if I was, I still wouldn't know a lot. What I do know is this:Jehovah is what the English word for the…[Read more]

We have changed it's form to suit our convenience? you say.(Yes Onespirit, we have a hidden agenda of promoting the letter “J.” It's true. You're on to us.)Why do YOU change the sound of the divine name…? you say.WE have done nothing of the sort. I believe your problem is with certain scholars who lived hundreds of years ago. Much like the…[Read more]

I don't actually speak chinese OneSpirit. Most of the chinese people I talk to have a much better grasp of English than I do of chinese. And they're here partly to learn English, so most would much rather have everything in English than Chinese. So, while here, speaking English, they would use “Jehovah.”However, here are the forms of the divine…[Read more]

Jehovah's Witnesses live in the world. We are in contact with people every day Nick. Don't imagine we isolate ourselves. And believe me when I say, people know we are Witnesses pretty quick, because a lot of things the world does, we avoid. If you want us to be a social movement and try to create a better world through politics or something…[Read more]

I just felt like restating Nick's words:”Pronunciation is a diversion and a tangential path. If someone addressed us by another form or with an accent we would not shun them. God is not a fastidious perfectionist in His relations with men. He knows we are weak ignorant vessels and He treats us fairly and kindly.”

So you say JW's seem invisible except for their preaching work. And it's because of this going from door to door that they are disliked?I thank you for the compliment Nick. Hey Nick.I've decided to take a less argumentative stance on this forum (ie: not debating Elijah) and tell people about Jehovah and about Jehovah's Witnesses. Hence, the above post.Right, being persecuted doesn't prove you're right. But not being persecuted in some way would indicate you're wrong.(Jesus of course said, 'If they hated me, they'll…[Read more]

So t8, what's your conclusion? Hebrew or Greek? This actually interested me a lot. I've never really questioned it before. Never thought about it. But Elijah raised some interesting points, which forced me do some research. It seems the evidence points to the NT being written for the most part in Greek, with the exception of Matthew. No one of…[Read more]

Hey Nick. You're back. I've actually missed you.I've pretty much came to the same thinking on Elijah.
