Hello E. I don't think we've ever spoke. Hello. A couple pages ago, you stated:Quote He is called by many names, and to focus on the Son, and then incorporate the human sense of a father son relationship into this title is eisiogesis and poor exegesis, it is a very unbalanced hermeneutic. It seems when someone has a problem understanding a…[Read more]

It's just that you began by saying:Quote Presuppositions will generally determine how this passage is interpreted Then you went on to interpret it.

Semjaza,How did the dead sea scrolls compare with the masoretic manuscripts?I do understand your outrage. There is much hypocrasy, lies, greed, corruption and every other bad thing you can think of to be found in Christendom. But they do not represent the Bible. In fact, the Bible fortold such of such ones.
david replied to the topic Philippians 2.5-7 in the forum Scriptural Teachings 20 years, 4 months ago
Well, as you say, “presuppostions will generally determine how this passage is interpreted.” You presuppose Jesus is equal to God. So you must interpret it that way.The following is from a 1971 Watchtower (355-6) and is somewhat long, but I find it very amusing and it really shows the struggles that trinitarians face, because of their struggle…[Read more]

Quote The map of the bible truth. Do you realise the "bible" you build your faith on has been written and rewritten multiple times according to the beliefs' of the time. The Bible has changed very little. Men's philosophies and the way they interpret the Bible does change, because they have a nasty habit of seeing what they want to see. Semjaza,…[Read more]

Quote The Jews substituted the Name with “Lord ” in the OT out of fear of God. Should they have done so? What do you think Nick? God has His name in the Bible 7000 times. Man substitutes His name with a title. Nick, if you wrote a biography, a book about your life, and someone translated that book into other languages and took your name out,…[Read more]

Hi Cubes,Quote They shouldn't have to find out during the time of war and I don't know that soldiers at war is the barometer to test the fruit of christianity.Simply refusing to be a soldier does not a Christian make. This is a good thread. This scripture frustrates me. I was once speaking to a minister in his home, and he was trying to explain to me that “Jehovah is Jesus,” as he said over and over.To my suprise he was using this scripture, to prove his point as I was using this scripture to prove mine. I believe there is a variety of ways this verse is…[Read more]

heiscomingintheclouds,What do you think of the removal of God's name from Scripture and the addition of subsitutions?
david replied to the topic The great apostasy in the forum Prophecy 20 years, 4 months ago
First, I think the removal of God's name from the Bible is part of the great apostasy, so I don't mind discussing this. But it is a bit off topic discussing whether or not God has a name. You say:Quote Names are given.Yes, and God gave himself his name. Or isn't he allowed to do this Nick? We KNOW this because as I stated we find the expression…[Read more]

I'm glad your family is ok. I think that in many places, safer places, people look at violence and war as something that takes place in other places. So it's something they can figure out when it comes to them. It's not very real yet. So they don't face the issues. I am glad they are ok.Let me tell you a true story. Quote The expression: “name Jehovah” occurs 16 times. “Jehovah's name” occurs 17 times for example. Of course, “God's name” also occurs 8 times. But nowhere does the expression the “name God” appear. Nor the “name Creator.” Nor the “name Lord.” We get the idea.

Quote God only has a descriptive name, not a personal name. He is far above any of His creation and to copy human familiarisation according to name is folly.how do you define “personal”?He has many titles, as does Jesus, and others in the Bible. If Yahweh or Jehovah is not a personal name, what is? Yes, but is “the living God” a name? Is “the eternal one” a name. Interestingly, there is a Bible that has “the eternal one” in Ps 83:18, where God's name should be.I know God said that to Moses. Nick, do you know what God's name means?

Quote david,I don't see the point in replacing one error for another. Most who come here know that the Watchtower is just as much part of the great apostacy as Catholic doctrine is.
