Hello again, t8,
What kind of God do I have in mind? A God who is truly omniscient and therefore can empathize with any and all creaturely feeling, feel the feelings in all creatures. When we feel tempted, yes, God also feels that temptation. That doesn’t mean God goes along with us, however. A successful therapist must be able to se the w…[Read more]

Hello again, t8,
Here is a kind of PS that just came to my mind. I am comfortable dealing with controversy. However, many Christians aren’t. The way members such as Nick and several others have come across would definitely threaten them off from posting. They would feel the very heart of their faith is being unduly attacked; and if they stu…[Read more]

Hello again, t8,
No, I haven’t thought of leaving the site because of Nick alone. However, I do not put up with flaming posts and very poor scholarship. It is one thing to make constructive criticism of the Trinitarian formulations. It is another to call the church fathers all liars and those who hold with the Trinity all idolaters, etc…[Read more]

Hello again, t8,
You brought into p lay one passage in Scripture which does present s subordinationalistic view of Christ. However, there are other passages that do in fact identify Christ with God, such as the prologue to Jn. The Trinity is a central teaching in Christianity, due to these latter passages. The problem is putting them together…[Read more]

Hello, t8,
In a serious theological discussion, one main rule is that you do no demean the faith of your opponents or personally attack them in any way. When members don’t honor that rule, I’m through with them.

Hi, t8,
Not quite sure I follow you here. Are you trying to argue the passage reflects a major distinction between God and Christ so that Christ cannot be considered God and then the Trinity is all wrong? If so, my response is that Scripture provides but conflicting snap shots of the ontological structure of God which often do conflict. Here…[Read more]

Look, Nick, you have the habit of peppering me with posts. Three just today. That’s way too many, in any case. How about letting it go at these? I find your posts to me to be personally offensive and wish no further correspondence with you.

Look, Gene, whether you want to admit it or not, your posts to me show you have some real personal issues concerning effective communication skills, anger management, and interacting with members of the Christian religion, who do not share your particular beliefs. You really need to work on these issues. Until you do, I really have nothing m…[Read more]

Thank you, Miia. Glad I am of some real help to you.

Sure seems to me, Nick, that you should do the same.

Hello, Andrew,
I didn’t say anything abut Augustine or Calvin being “accused” of anything. I said Augustine is modalistic in his psychological models of the Trinity. No doubt about it. I would suggest you read Calvin. He suggests a psychological model of the Trinity, in which the Father denotes will, the Son denotes Reason, and the Holy Spi…[Read more]

Good point, Nick. That’s why I make it a point not to listen to you.

Hello, Nick,
As you appear to be taking up a second career as an Apostle of the true faith, I would strongly suggest you do not leave your day job.

Hi, Kerwin,
That’s more or less what I thought you were doing. Well, you can certainly do that kind of thing if you want to. It’s OK. Many do go online for a quick read. But that’s all you a really get: a quick read, nothing really in depth. Also, many online sources really aren’t very reliable, to start with. So it really isn’t a very solid…[Read more]

Hi, Gene,
I hate to say it, but you are doing it again, right here in your present post. The goal of your post is to attack me personally. That’s the problem. My response is , “Oh, well, more hate mail. How boring.”

Hi, Ed,
So? I seem to recall I also posted something there. That’s there, this is here.

Hello again, Kerwin,
Afraid I don’t get your point here. Also, I am wondering how much background you have in Greek. If you are fluent, that’s one thing. If no, that’s OK. too, but you really have to keep such references down to a minimum. With biblical languages, if you are in for a penny, you are in for a pound.

Sorry, but I was raised in a strict Judeo-Christian culture and I wouldn’t feel comfortable joining the Church of NickH.

Hello, Nick,
You’d be the one to know on that one, the expert on listening and providing only the vain musings of men, specifically yours. You are just having too much fun mocking and trying to embarrass those of the Christian faith.

Hello, Kerwin,
I have no trouble with the notion that God can experience temptation. I could put no faith in a God who didn’t experience temptation. Such a God would never understand us who do feel temptations.
After the Council of Chalcedon, in 451, classical christology centered on the doctrine of the two natures of Christ. Acco…[Read more]
