Hi David,”I am the first and the last” has a context? Good grief. YHWH is the first and the last. For anyone else to claim to be the first and the last is blasphemy. I agree. There are many so-called gods. But to me there is only one God.Which of these other other gods does YHWH ever say He needs to achieve salvation, to share His glory with,…[Read more]

Hi David,Paul also tells us the relationship in Titus 2:13 -“our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.” Isaiah 43:11 says there is no saviour besides YHWH. But Jesus is our saviour. Jesus is YHWH.Tim

Hi t8,Christ's claim to be one with the Father was understood to mean that He is God by everyone who heard Him. John 10:33. The church, however, is nowhere told that it is God, so I do not believe that. Jesus sets his unity with the Father as the ideal for the church to attain, and this is reflected in the church becoming one spirit with Him,…[Read more]

David,I agree that there are many so-called gods, but for me there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things. It seems to me Paul isn't putting Jesus in the same class with all the so-called gods.David, doesn't it strike you as odd that your religion is essentially “YHWH plus.”…[Read more]

David,Sorry if my response wasn't clear. I thought I pointed out directly that the Jews did accuse Jesus of being God in John 10:33, and that John 5:18 shows that Jesus being God's Son means that He is equal to God. Tim

Hi Not3in1,Jesus speaks as one person. My point is that Jesus in his manhood is inferior to the Father. The fact that Jesus calls the Father His God does not mean that Jesus isn't also God or that Jesus is eternally inferior to the Father. Jesus is our priest and mediator with God, and as such, it is proper for Him in His representation of His…[Read more]

Hi Not3in1,I believe they all do indwell each other. This follows from the logic that God is not divided. Since God is each of them, His substance is fully shared equally among them without division. But in any event, I think it's safe to infer, that since the Father and the Son mutually indwell each other, and the Spirit is also God, that…[Read more]

Hi t8,Jesus calls the Father His God, and so He is. For as the Athanasian Creed says, Jesus is equal to the Father concerning his Godhead, but inferior to the Father concerning His manhood.t8, I'm not exactly sure what you believe. Could you please explain who/what you think Jesus is?Thanks,Tim

Hi Not3in1,Thanks. I'm glad that you are searching the Scriptures and seeking the truth. What you are saying isn't that far from what the church has historically believed. Ok, it's not the same, but at least you don't believe Jesus is part of creation. Acknowledging that the Word was God himself is pretty good.As far as “God's seed,” I'm curious…[Read more]

Nick,You said, “I believe an image is rather like that which it images.” Thanks for the inference! We can debate its merit later. But for now let's agree that inferences are ok so long as they're true.Tim

Hi t8,John 10:38 shows that the Father and the Son mutually indwell each other. It doesn't explicitly say this for the Spirit, so go ahead and celebrate, but it's a reasonable inference that Christians have made for 2000 years.Tim

Hi t8,Paul preached the same gospel as John and Thomas. That's why he called Jesus our great God and Saviour. Titus 2:13.What do you mean by divine nature?
