Nick,So now you believe that Jesus is another god too? I thought you believed he is just a vessel for the Spirit of God?I know how YHWH acts because the Bible tells me so. YHWH will not share His glory with any other. YHWH alone is saviour. YHWH does not let His people have any other gods. Tim

Nick,Yes, my inferences are very different from yours. But the inferences of every Christian the past 2000 years have been the same. Maybe that should tell you something.Tim

Hi Nick,I thought you liked to go by the Bible? The Bible says that a man and a woman become one flesh. I don't think you should create division where the Bible asserts unity.Jesus prayed to His Father. They are separate persons. Jesus was also praying as a man. And Jesus also came to do only the Father's will.Tim
Tim2 replied to the topic Who is this Jesus? in the forum Scriptural Teachings 17 years, 7 months ago
He is man. He is God. He is God and Man. He has all the nature and properties of God, and all the nature and properties of man. And He is one person. He did sacrifice His life. This means He did not only passively obey the Father in going to the cross, but He also chose to go there on His own authority. I don't know anything about the children…[Read more]

David,So please explain what you think “god” means as applied to Jesus. The problem is that the New Testament describes Jesus as not just like YHWH, but as YHWH. The Lamb sits on the same throne as God. YHWH would never allow this. The same praise is given to the Lamb as to God. YHWH would never allow this. Nor would YHWH allow salvation to be…[Read more]

1. Matthew 28:19.2. John 1:13. FalseJesus is the wisdom and power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:24.There is nothing wrong with a true inference. The Bible was written to be understood. That its truth can be restated using other words is evident from the New Testament quotation of the Old Testament, where not only another language was used, but the…[Read more]

Quote (Nick Hassan @ April 11 2007,19:18)Hi Tim2, I hope you are not suggesting the Father and the Son beget the Spirit. The other similarity is that two individuals in an orderly way unite in purpose and will to act as one.No Nick, the Trinity holds that the Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.The Bible says marriage is more than two…[Read more]

Hi David,I really don't see how you can separate God from YHWH. It's the first commandment for crying out loud. You shall have no other gods before YHWH. It seems quite bizarre that your response to this would be, “Ahhah, so there are other gods then? I can no longer use God primarily with reference to YHWH, but must acknowledge that it mainly…[Read more]

Hi David,The word “one” is the same in both texts. And yes, man and woman are the image of God. Genesis 1:27. In marriage we see two persons with the same undivided flesh. Actually three including the child.Tim

David,The word God is used first and foremost with respect to YHWH. Its principal meaning is YHWH. Otherwise we're clueless as to who is creating what in Genesis 1.I agree that the word El in the OT is some times used to refer to other beings, some times favorably, some times not unfavorably. The favorable times seem to be with respect to human…[Read more]

Hi David,Jesus is Jehovah. He's the one who's name we call on to be saved. Romans 10:13. This is illogical if you assume Jehovah is only one person. But Deuteronomy 6:4 and Genesis 2:24 show that this is by no means the case.Tim

Oops, that last one was for David. And again David, you really believe that YHWH needs someone else to save creation? For that matter, YHWH needed someone else to create creation? And YHWH lets someone else be His power and wisdom? and so forth

Hi Nick,I believe you've said that the judges of Israel have been called gods. Given Jesus' reference to Psalm 82, I believe the “gods” there are the judges of Israel, as the context suggests. These humans, as you say, were called gods. Now, I don't think you believe that Jesus is only a judge of Israel. Correct me if I'm wrong. But you think…[Read more]

Quote (Nick Hassan @ April 11 2007,17:35)Hi Tim2, Then who is the Son of God?It is not OK to read Jesus as God and state it as fact but then find others in scripture also called gods and to take a swerve and say because they are created or angels or men or lumps of stone they can safely be excluded.
