Hi David,Regarding god, we have to differentiate between Hebrew, Greek, and English. In Hebrew “El” and “Elohim” don't necessarily mean only YHWH. We've been through that before. Now, given this understanding, that everyone knows “El” is basically an old semitic word that refers to power, what point do you think YHWH was trying to make when He…[Read more]

Right Nick, you don't worship Jesus, you just proskunein him and confess him as Lord and say, “To him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” and say, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.” Yeah, that's not worship at all.

And I think, “There is god besides YHWH and Jesus is a god besides YHWH” is illogical.

Hi Nick,You're the one who's offering a new deity, this other Jesus who has unexplained divine origins, who is the Word that was God but is no longer God. I'm proclaiming only one Deity, YHWH.Tim

Come on, the Bible does give us an answer. There is no God besides YHWH. Either Jesus is YHWH or he is no god at all.

t8,A few responses and then a big point:1. If Jesus is equal to God (meaning God the Father), but He's not the same God, then you have polytheism. This isn't possible. 2. “The glory I had with you.” That's one glory. They both had it. How is that not sharing?3. Salvation belongs to God and to the Lamb. If the Lamb isn't also YHWH, this…[Read more]

Tim,Paul says there is one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:4, 12:11, 12:13.Likewise, in Romans 8 Paul only mentions one Spirit, but he calls Him both the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ. Romans 8:9-10. There is only one Spirit, and He's clearly a person if He's a Helper, is always called “He” and “Himself” and never “It,” refers to Himself as…[Read more]

David,I thought I did answer your question. Explain to me where I'm wrong. The only place in the New Testament I see the non=YHWH “El” or “Elohim” being translated from the OT as theoi is John 10. I thought we agreed that Jesus was talking about human rulers here? Are you saying these are angels who don't do justice for the weak and…[Read more]

Not3in1,I think I see the misunderstanding here. I believe that Jesus decided in all eternity to go to the cross. In eternity, He could have instead just sent everyone to hell. However, once He became man, He had already bound Himself to go to the cross and placed Himself as a man under the authority of the Father and the Spirit.Tim

Jesus lay down His life on His own initiative. Of course He could have chosen not to. He's God. He can do whatever He wants.

Hi Not3in1,Jesus, as God, is free to do anything He wants. He could have consigned us all to eternal hell from the hour we were born. But He chose to die on the cross for His glory and His Father's glory. John 14:31-32, 17:4-5.tim

t8,So you do accept all of my points? This means you believe Jesus is God? I'm about to start singing praises:) With regard to your points, I would start by capitalizing all references to Jesus. He is God, so He should be called He. I'd also make these changes:4. He is the Word of God. (If He's called the Word of God, He is the Word of…[Read more]

David,I'm still not sure what your doctrine of Jesus' ontology is. I asked this from t8. I would like it from you too. What exactly do you believe Jesus is?The word El is used often to denote power in the OT. It is also used to refer to false gods, angels, and judges. And it's most often used to denote GOD, YHWH.
