I believe your proof text is saying that Christ was the vehicleby which God was reconciling the world to himself. It speaks nothing of the location of God or Christ. But, to answer your question, the following texts address it planily.John 14:10 (KJV) Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I spea…[Read more]

I finally found the blurb that stimulated my initiation of this discussion: Misunderstandings clarified I have read and enjoyed many of your magazines. However, I recently noticed that you don't believe Jesus was God. Don't try to convince me otherwise. Take my name off your mailing list. Do not send me anything else! —C.K., Elko, New York…[Read more]

Regarding this quote, do not the following passages imply an existence prior to human conception?”You seem to believe he is a special being that preexisted his conception “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of…[Read more]

David,Thank you for your explanation and conceding there is a sense in which Jesus is God. You have help me with what appeared to be a dychotomyin UCB writings. Your explanation makes sense.Chosenone, I am not offended by the “word was God” interpretation. I don't believe you have to be Trinitarian to translate that way. I have always felt the…[Read more]

Good information. It was not I but “chosenone” who assertedthe correct translation to be:Hi Seeking. The correct translation of John1:1 and the correct sequence of words in the oldest available pieces of scripture is:In the beginning was the word, and the word was toward God, and God was the word. Blessings.

In another UCG publication I read that He IS God and that those who say we believe He is not misunderstand us. Nick,How many times does, “In the beginning God created” appear in scripture? The challenge is totally invalid.Deut.19:15 quoted in 2Cor.13:1 refers too the validity of human witnesses and has nothing to do with validating or invalidating the truth of scripture based on the frequency of appearance.

Ch The correct translation of John1:1 and the correct sequence of words in the oldest available pieces of scripture is:In the beginning was the word, and the word was toward God, and God was the word. Then is not the reverse true, “the word was God”?

Martian – you writeIt is an unfortunate fact that many scholars do not use proper principles for inter[reting scripture. I know of several scholars that do not translate Word to JesusPlease help me with who these scholars are.
SEEKING replied to the topic in the forum The Trinity Doctrine 15 years, 10 months ago
Nick,Jn.1:1 is not tradition, it is the word of God. Statements made in the UCB article, which you never addressed, assume to accurately relate the meaning of the word and not foster tradition. To stand on ones tradition and continually quote the same proof texts is not a plague unique to Trinitarians.I am quick to state that I do not endorse t…[Read more]

Martian,I don't believe I am “assuming” regarding Jn.1:1. I do not know of any scholars that do not accept that the “Word”used ther refers to none other than Jesus.

You cite Jn.1:1 'The Word (Jesus) was with God.' Completing the verse we read, “and the Word was God.”I appreciate your efforts, but I am left to answer what the UCG article quoted is implying. Perhaps there is a balance of understanding being missed.

Nick – Thanks for responding. Below are several (of many) quotes from a UCB publication, “WHO IS JESUS.” that strongly imply His claim to be God. Do you see the two concepys I am trying to unify?”Who, really, was Jesus of Nazareth? Where did He reallycome from? If we understand that,it explains everything He did andsaid. Most see Jesus as a…[Read more]
