I don't believe it was a vision.Jesus could have had a vision while he was praying. There was no need to take two brother's and head up the mountain if he was just going to have a vision, imo.

Jesus was angry a few times, but for the majority of the time he extended grace, mercy and forgiveness.  He fed people and washed their feet.  He pointed the way to the Father when people questioned his mission and person.
