The one quoted by One Spirit in particular, but really all those pertaining to the relationship between the Israelites and Yahweh, and how each party viewed that relationship.

Hi One Spirit and Nick,At the risk of sounding contrary:Who do you think was the author of this passage, and what do you think it meant to them?I ask this, because I think we have vastly different approaches to scriptural interpretation.

The whole episode really – the Israelites show a decided lack of willingness to commune with God, and tell Moses mediate between them and God. They then used the law as an outward appearance of righteousness, offering lipservice, rather than showing a deep-seated desire to commune with God and their neighbours.
