    My old friend WJ:

What do you mean “forgetting even that it says ‘the Word was God’? If he is the Logos, then he is God, because the scripture states that the Logos is God, but he himself he told Mary to go and tell his brethren that he was going to ascend to his Father and his God and to their Father and their God.

And so, he is not God, but…[Read more]

    Hi Kerwin:

This is how Strong’s concordance has it:

    Outline of Biblical Usage
    of speech
a word, uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea

    Ephesians 1:

9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

The “Logos” defined means “that which God has spoken, and it embodies an idea or a plan.  The Word of God in John 1 pertains to Jesus, but is not him as some pre-existing person in some other form,  And no, he did not help God to create the heavens and the earth nor the host thereof.  He is, however,  the agent through whom  God is completing the…[Read more]

The scriptures state that there is only one name given us whereby we can be saved.

    Pierre:

All believers should be baptized in water when they have believed with a repentant heart. That is what I have shown you by the scriptures. Water baptism is not for Jews only which is what you were trying to imply.

I was baptized in water after I had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Yes, at Pentecost there were jews there from all over the world, but if we say that there is one gospel for all peoples, and there was a commandment for jews to be baptized in water, wouldn’t it also mean that the commandment applies to us as well? What about the jailer or the Eunuch in the following scripture? Were they Jews?

    Acts 16:28-34King…[Read more]

So, Pierre, what does the fact that these to whom the Apostle Peter was speaking were Jews?  The scripture states that the promise is also to those who are far off.  There is only one gospel for all peoples.

    Hi Pierre:

Of course, you do not have to do anything that you do not want to do. You have the freedom to obey or not to obey the Word of God. There are many examples of believers being baptized in water after believing the gospel.

Acts 2:38 is as follows, after some who crucified the Lord believed the gospel:

    Acts 2:37-39King James Version…[Read more]

    Hi Mia:

I as baptized as an infant in the Catholic church, and again by immersion when I joined a Southern Baptist church, but I do not consider these a valid water baptism because I did not truly believe with a repentant heart, but God does not do things in the same way every time.

However,  the scriptures state the following:

    Romans 8:

    9…[Read more]

    Hi Mia:

I know that baptism is a commandment. I said that every believer should obey the commandment, if he is able to do so, but first comes faith with a repentant heart, obedience to God’s commandments is the result of one’s believing with a repentant heart.

The Prophets of the OT did have an anointing from God to enable them to obey God. The did have the Holy Spirit in order that God speak to humanity through them, but they were not born again.

Of John the Baptist, of whom the scriptures state that he was filled with the Spirit from birth, Jesus states the following:

    Matthew 11:11 Verily I say…[Read more]

    Hi Kw:

I believe that I have already answered this in another thread, but to add to what I have stated, “all who have believed God and demonstrated their faith through obedience to His Word in the OT” will be born again when Jesus comes for the church. They were born of “living water”, “the Word of God”, and they will be born of “the Spirit”…[Read more]

    You say:

    942767,

Romans 4 introduces the question of whether Jesus died in vain for imputed righteousness was already available to Abraham and others before Jesus chose to sacrifice himself on the cross.

No, all who have obeyed God from the beginning were righteous by Faith in God’s Word, but all of humanity has sinned, and Jesus is the…[Read more]

    Hi Brother:

We are saved by Faith, so that it might be unmerited.  We cannot earn salvation through good works or purchase it with money or any other way.   It is a gift from God.   We obey because we have believed with a repentant heart, and so, as the scriptures state “Faith without works is dead”.  We must obey the  Word of God, but even when…[Read more]
