A recent poll asked the viewers at hn “What comprises God”?

And the results (rounded off) are:

20% thought Triune – 3 persons in one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit

20% thought Biune – 2 persons in one God, the Father and Holy Spirit

60% thought One – Father only.

I was in the minority and thought that the Holy Spirit is a person within the “Godhead” so my question for the “winners” is this, what or how does the Holy Spirit come into play into your theology?

And not to be presumptuous could you explain how the son of God also fits in?  Some people think that he is God and part of YHWH and some think he is the son of YHWH.

Mike had his 15 minutes of fame with “pre-existence”, now is the time for yours.

Looking forward to seeing your “system”.

    Hi David,

What?!?  I not famous anymore?   :D   Actually, I have no clue whatsoever what you meant by that statement. ???

    You said:

Imagine your spirit taking off to go buy some ice cream while “you” stayed at home reading a book.  Is that possible?  We are created in God's image, so why would you think His Spirit is a separate entity from Him…….ours aren't.

I got sort of a grip on it by thinking of Storm in the X-Men movies.  Imagine that her “powers” are her spirit.  She could be standing on the ground in Delaware, but send her “powers” to Nova Scotia to cause a tornado or whatever.

God can send His spirit to accomplish His will.  He can send it far away from heaven if He wants, but it is always connected to Him, transmitting info He sent and receiving info to relay to Him, IMO.

    Does that help at all?

If at all there is one who is called God he can be the only one whether you call Him Father or mother it depends on you.

Jesus doesn't call the Holy Spirit “Father” because the Holy Spirit is feminine. He said he would send us the Comforter, Counselor, Helper and She would dwell in us.

The Holy Spirit has as one of her traits/essences, YHWH's Spirit. Thus when you receive the Holy Spirit you receive YHWH.

And Jesus who received the Holy Spirit at his baptism, which was separate from the Father, sends us this same Spirit so all are one together in unity.

Mat 3:16 After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him,

and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”

The Spirit in Jesus is not the person (Father) in Heaven speaking.
Spirit Elohim (feminine) is a separate “person” Gen 1:2 from YHWH Elohim (masculine) in Gen 2:4.

Both of them comprise Elohim (God) of Gen 1:1.

We know that there are these two essences because of Gen 1:27.
