Quote (Wakeup @ Nov. 21 2013,05:44) What does the word sodomy mean to you?
The word sodomy refers to two males having sex with each other – whether or not any money exchanges hands. The word in verse 17 though refers to a specific male prostitute (who DOES get paid) who works out of a temple only.
The word in verse 18 (dog) refers to a male prostitute (who DOES get paid) who works from any old place.
Neither the Hebrew word in verse 17, nor in verse 18, refer to a man who has sex with another man for NO money. So “sodomite” is a bad translation of verse 17 – since money IS involved.
And “dog” is a bad translation of verse 18 – since God wasn't speaking of the price one would pay for a dog, but about how a male prostitute should not bring the money earned from the act of male prostitution into the temple as a vow or offering or whatever.
1. “Sodomite”…….. any male who has sex with another male freely – WITHOUT getting money.
2. “Qedesh” (the Hebrew word used in verse 17)………. a male prostitute who GETS PAID for having sex ONLY IN THE TEMPLE AS AN ACT OF WORSHIP.
3. “Dog” (the Hebrew word used in verse 18)……… A Hebrew idiom (slang word) for a male prostitute who GETS PAID for having sex ANY PLACE.
Do you see how “sodomite” does not fit either Hebrew word used in those two verses – because a “sodomite” doesn't necessarily GET PAID – and both of these verses talk about male prostitutes that DO GET PAID.

Mike B.You are going too much into the science of words.
We plain and humble christians only needs to know the meanings of:
1.Blasphemy.
2.Fornication.
3.Adultery.
4.Sodomy,beastiality.
5.stealing.
6.Cheating.
7.Lying.
8.False accusing.
9 Truth,love.
10.Lust,greed.Just to name a few.
Those are the things God hates.
Those are the things that seperates us from God.wakeup.
November 22, 2013 at 4:56 pm#362471mikeboll64BlockedAgreed. But you left out “being a temple prostitute”.
This sin is also clearly condemned by God Himself in scripture – but isn't mentioned anywhere in the KJV.

Mike B.A temple prostitute comes in the category of
fornicators.
I did not forget.wakeup.
November 25, 2013 at 11:56 pm#362667mikeboll64BlockedSo does adultery – yet it is specifically mentioned by God, right?
Well, so is “being a temple prostitute”. Even though it might be similar to other sins that are mentioned, it is also specifically mentioned by God in scripture.
Yet the KJV has no mention of it. They left out one of the specific sins that God warned us against…….. all because they didn't know as much then about the Hebrew words as we know today.
Who's going to know more about something, Wakeup: The one who studied it for 2 hours, or the one who studied it for 20 years? Obviously the latter, right?
Well consider that we've had 400 more years to gain more knowledge about the Hebrew culture, and 400 more years of archaeological digs, which have turned up a load of ancient knowledge the KJV translators simply didn't know about.
It's not a slam against the KJV, Wakeup. They did the best they could with the mss and knowledge they had in 1611. We now have more and better of both.

Mike B.The fact is that you are denying the **power** of God.
You believe in God; believe also in his **power**.wakeup.
November 27, 2013 at 12:52 am#362731mikeboll64BlockedYes. It was undoubtedly the power of God that caused the omission of temple prostitutes in the KJV to be CORRECTED – by allowing us to find older and better knowledge about that command He gave.
So now we are able to know that money made from REGULAR prostitutes isn't allowed in the temple – and we are also able to know that TEMPLE prostitutes aren't allowed to be employed in Jehovah's temple.
With the KJV, we didn't know either of these things.
Thank you God, for preserving your original word by letting us find this older and better information so we could correct the KJV's flawed interpretation of these matters. We no longer need to wonder why the price of a dog isn't allowed in the temple.

Mike,Don't you get it?
They want the word Sodomy or Sodomite eradicated because the practise is very popular today.
It's as simple as that Mike. There are also homosexuals who have become so called christians, and they don't want to offend them.
I came across this christian gay site yesterday, and they are singing the same song as you are in regards to temple prostitutes. They are shouting it from the mountain tops, defiling God's holy word, they are offended by the term sodomite because they are practising it.Can't you see where it's all been leading to.
Even those high in power, and ultra rich celebrities are doing it. They have to in order to belong to the 20 million dollar club. It's not a choice for them but a must. Satan is in there leading them, and they do it for power, & riches in return. If they refuse in these ceremonies, then they are set up for a public fall and humiliation, and in some cases, have suspicious accidents.November 28, 2013 at 8:05 pm#362788mikeboll64Blockedjourney,
There are scriptures in Deuteronomy that explicitly say God despises men who lay with other men. So it doesn't matter if certain people prefer the “temple prostitute” translation just so they can pretend that being gay is okay with God. Their reasons for liking that translation have nothing at all to do with the FACT that the Hebrew word refers to a temple prostitute.
Please stop diverting these discussions with your NWO paranoia – and just stick to the point.

Mike,I have heard supporters of sodomite and lesbian “rights” insist the words of Romans 1:26-27 are speaking of temple prostitutes and not of all lesbian and sodomites.
The NIV, which some condemn as a NWO version, condemns the practice of homosexuality.
1 Timothy 1:10
New International Version (NIV)10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

Mike,He is not insisting we stick to a Latin translation, as certain Roman Catholics, once did even a Hebrew one, as the some Jews, seem to insist on now. Some think change is evil and sometimes they are even right but the lack of moderation can lead to destruction.

I agree that “progress” is often anything but. And even in this case, it's disheartening to know that current translators take liberties with the new found information – and try to TWIST that new information into supporting their own personal biases. The trick is to acknowledge and accept the new information WITHOUT allowing ourselves to fall victim to the twists.November 30, 2013 at 1:51 am#362839WakeupParticipantQuote (mikeboll64 @ Nov. 30 2013,06:37) Quote (Wakeup @ Nov. 28 2013,18:09) Just as it goes with the movies;so it goes with the bible translations.

Mike B.The Word of God is the same yesterday and today, and forever.
There is no man that can improve the Word of God.Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
No man can change it.
Knowledge of the earth is not spiritual knowledge.
Isaiah knew the earth was round.Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the **circle of the earth**, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Circle means round.

Men have increased in secular knowledge,as the spiritual
is deadening.
Worldly knowledge has replaced spiritual knowledge.
Men has become more proud because of technology.

You are correct, Wakeup. No man can improve on the word of God – not even the MEN who produced the KJV, right? The word of God is in the HEBREW, ARAMAIC, and GREEK languages, Wakeup……… not in one particular English translation OF those languages.
We now have access to those ORIGINAL words – and all the various things those words can mean. We are no longer chained to whatever certain English men TELL US those words mean in various verses of scripture. We can make the same informed CHOICES that those men had the option of making.
Isn't that wonderful? Isn't God great for preserving His ORIGINAL words for us to read thousands of years later?
Praise Jah!
