John 8:34
Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
February 5, 2014 at 7:49 pm#369241terrariccaParticipantwhat's your take on that kerwin
Jn 8:34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
Jn 8:35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.
Jn 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.February 5, 2014 at 10:14 pm#369245kerwinParticipantT,
I was looking to see how much interest there is about my question and who would choose to answer it. I believe I have previous answered it myself in other threads but I remember it being a time ago.

T,Any sin makes you a servant of sin. Do you see it another way?
February 6, 2014 at 1:53 pm#369276GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin……….Sin works in seductive ways, of different LUSTS, of the eyes or of the flesh, and the pride of life, so if we give in to the “seduction”, them we are it's servant. But through the “Spirit” of God, given us, through the sacrifice of Jesus we can master it. Remember in Genesis where God told Cain, “Sin lied, at the door”, (of his heart), and he as well and we, must rule over or master it. So what Jesus said is true whosoever commits sin is it's servant. IMO
peace and love to you and yours…………………………..gene
February 6, 2014 at 2:02 pm#369277seekingtruthParticipantI believe it is better understood that if we allow sin a place, our desires become our master instead of the Lord.

February 6, 2014 at 5:12 pm#369282terrariccaParticipantLOOK AT the verse Jn 8:35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.
Jesus says that those that live as slave of sin ;are not in a position to become a member of GOD'S FAMILY AND SO LIVE A LIFE WITH A TEMPORARY TIME ,WHILE THE ONES THAT BECOME A SON BELONG TO THE FAMILY BELONG IN THE FAMILY FOREVER ,Jn 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Thank you for your answers.
Romans 6 has passages that speak of being a servant as well. Was Paul using it the same as Jesus in that letter?
February 6, 2014 at 10:19 pm#369305terrariccaParticipantK
YES IN OTHER WORDS ;
Ro 6:1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
Ro 6:2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Ro 6:3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
Ro 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.February 7, 2014 at 4:46 am#369336WakeupParticipantQuote (kerwin @ Feb. 07 2014,03:57) To all, Thank you for your answers.

Kerwin. The lust of the flesh is against God's will.
If one lives by the flesh,he is a slave of the flesh.
If one lives by the spirit of God,he is a slave of God.
And God will make him His son.wakeup.

If you hunger for food, you will seek for food.
If you are thirsty for a drink;you will seek for a drink.
If you hunger for righteousness, you will not go for evil.
And you shall be filled with spiritual food.
Meaning the Holy Spirit will guide you and draw you to God.
And you will do the will of God.
The spirit of man,(not the breath) of the flesh is deadened.wakeup.
April 22, 2014 at 9:36 am#379016NickHassanParticipantHi,
The will of God is that all men be saved.
Thence knowledge mattersApril 22, 2014 at 11:03 am#379022942767ParticipantWell, it means that you are either in the world, practicing sin wilfully, or you have been born again and are obeying God.
A person who has not made Jesus their Lord is in bondage to sin, and is living in the house of God, this world temporarily until the judgement and then he will be destroyed in the second death.
God is going to gather all things unto Himself through the Lord Jesus, the body of Christ, those who have been saved and will inherit eternal life, and all the wonderful promises of God, and the body of Anti-Christ, which are those who will be destroyed in the second death.
A person who has been saved is no longer under the condemnation Romans 8, and is therefore, no longer in bondage to sin, but is free through the Lord Jesus. If he is walking in obedience to the commandments of the Lord, and commits a sin, and confesses it with a repentant heart, his sin is washed away by the blood of Jesus. If he did not have this provision, when someone sins, that sin is there until it is washed away by the blood of the Lord.
Quote Romans 8
King James Version (KJV)
8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God
Quote 1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Quote 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Quote John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Quote If he did not have this provision, when someone sins, that sin is there until it is washed away by the blood of the Lord. I know Jesus said anyone who sins is a slave to sin.
I also know it is written he washed us from sin with our own blood.
In addition I know that Scripture cannot be broken.
Since Jesus declared that he would free us from slavery to sin it follows he does and freedom is gained by having him washing us from sin with his own blood.
If you are truly free from sin you do not sin because anyone who sins is a servant of sin. You have put on you new self created like God in true holiness and righteousness.

Surely you do not mean this
“I also know it is written he washed us from sin with our own blood.”Sin comes from within.
Jesus can continue our inner cleansing if we acknowledge our problems1jn 1.7-10

Hi Kerwin:Although we are saved, and we do not practice sin willfully, we still make mistakes, and the blood of the Lord cleanses us from sin when we confess the sin with a repentant heart. That is what 1 John 1:6-10 states.
