I have been on this website, on and off, for over a year now, and have observed, and given, opinions on many topics of what scripture is saying. There is much disagreement on almost all topics, and I would like to know if anyone has ever changed their mind, on any subject posted, due to the convincing arguments of others?
I, personally, have had a change in my beliefs, in my walk with God in my life, (I'm 73 years old). I know that it was God working in me, and not by me, that formed my beliefs.
I now believe that the scriptures (bible), is not a book of how we should live, but a book of what God is doing.
I would like this thread to be a documentary of how others came to believe what they believe, and what, or who, or circumstance affected their beliefs.
Try not to argue about what others think or believe, just your personal walk with God.Thank you., Jerry.

Wow…is all I can say!!!!
God's word opened up and began talking to me more than it ever did when I was a JW…it became clear to me that the Body of Christ is not and can not be defined by the laws, traditions, rules, and creeds of these false religions…
God's Truth is meant for the humble, honest , and hungry who seek and keep asking…
So..here I am…trying to walk in with Christ to the best of my ability…
Thats my story and I am sticking to it

Welcome to the Family of God. I had similar experiences coming out of the Catholic Church. We never even read the Bible in the Catholic Church, and when we finally did, all kinds of lights went on. The one that I thought was the saddest revelation for me, was, when God showed us, that Maria did not stay a Virgin like the C.Church taught us. That she stayed a Virgin. And Catholics still believe that. Then came the trinity, wow that too was a great truth that God showed us. And about 3 years ago it was the preexisting of Jesus. The first time somebody told me that, I said to my Husband that Guy is crazy. I find it so amazing that God keeps up with working with you, until you get it. At least that is what He has done with me.
When God calls you out of the false religious groups and shows you the truth for the very first time, it is so great. The day after our Baptism I was sitting on the Sewing Machine and things did not go right. I was using curse words over and over again. And over and over again God let me know. What is so amazing about that is that I was not aware of that I was doing so. Ask God show me my faults and wow, He did and still does. It is good to look back and see how much one has grown into righteousness. I don't think we will never be completely right now be like Jesus, but one day we will. No more pain and no more sorrow. What a wonderful world tomorrow will be.
So looking forward to that.

Nice thread idea – thanks.
Um yes, I have changed my views because of posts here by certain members. The list is actually too long to detail. But briefly, Adam Pastor gave me some new insights to Phil. 2 and tithing that I had not considered and so I adopted those views because they were more logical than my views.
I have definitely changed my views on the Sabbath due to Kenrch and Laurel.
I have also considered that certain holidays are not pleasing to God due to David, Nick and other's on the issue. And I have made certain adjustments there.
Like I said, I may be here all night listing certain ones who have inspired me or helped me to change my views. I have really learned a lot from quite a few members here. I'm grateful for their personal bible studies that they share, and I'm grateful that I can ask questions and not have to have the answers.
Good to chat with you, Jerry.
MandyJune 29, 2008 at 9:52 am#94840gollamudiParticipantHi Jerry, Irene and Mandy,
Wonderful to see brothers and sisters come together and share God's leading and guidence in understanding His scriptures properly. In fact God has changed lot of beliefs from me in these days including through this website which benefitted me a lot by the loving brothers and sisters like Jerry, Gene, Adam Pastor, Mandy, so on and soforth. I was believing almost all the theories that are available here like Trinity, Free will, preexistence of Jesus, divinity of Jesus, water baptism, eternal torment, immortality of souls so on and soforth. But God taught me to unlearn many of these things in my life now I am learning afresh by His leading. I have learnt one thing here in this site that no one knows full truth only we know truth in bits and parts of a complete puzzle of Truth of God's word.
Hope we all will come together and arrange our pieces of puzzle so that we may get overall picture of the Truth.
Peace to all
AdamJune 29, 2008 at 2:04 pm#94849seekingtruthParticipantI have changed many of an idea and find it very valuable here as you can read both side of the argument and what scriptures they use to support it and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit you can find truth and see how scripture are being mis-interpreted to support the other side.
I fully agree the scriptures are to help us to know God and are not a “rule book” although rules (like, love one another) are included.
I was not raised as a christian but to be moral with a general belief in God. After leaving home I lived a very self centered life far from God but became so desperate for meaning in my self consumed lifestyle that I began looking for something more. Praise be to the Father I found someone worthy of putting my trust in.
For the rest of my history (taken from my post just before this one asking about change in my beliefs)
Quote I found too many scriptures indicating non-equality between Father and Son. At the time I believed there were only 2 options either you believed (in the trinity) or you were a non-believer. It was one of the hardest things I ever did to accept the possibility that it wasn't as I had been taught, I was greatly concerned that I may have “missed the boat” so to speak until I found scripture harmonizing better. Having discovered that truth can be found by an average someone like me (thank the Father for His Spirit to guide us to all truth) I've chose to ignore what I've been taught for the most part and discover what scripture really says.
I was so excited when I found this site and discovered I wasn't the only one who was finding conflict between what they read in scripture and what was commonly taught. I only wish some here would remember we are to have love for one another and have more patience (as the Father has had with me) in most cases people are not perverting scripture their only echoing what they've been taught and snide remarks or angry confrontation does little to help them see the errors of their ways (actually I believe it makes it harder).

AdamJune 29, 2008 at 10:27 pm#94913chosenoneParticipantHi all.
Thank you all for sharing your walk with God.dirtyknections…Very interesting, thanks for sharing. You say you will stick with it, I say good for you. God is still working with you.
Irean…thanks also for sharing. You are right, we all are lacking the whole truth, but thank God He is still working with all of us.
Mandy… thanks for responding to this thread. The answers will come, be patient, God works at His pace, not ours.
Adam… pleased to see you answer this thread, we have had interaction with each other in the past, loved your comments and opinions, God Bless.
Wm… thanks for responding, I enjoyed your quote “Praise be to the Father…etc.” Also for your history quote.
I look forward to more of you expessing and sharing your “walk with God” with us. Also if any would like to share their particular beliefs that you feel stongley about, please share it on this thread if you wish. But lets not use this as a way of critisizing others views, but what and why you believe this, adding comments why you believe this if you want to.
God bless you all, Jerry.
July 1, 2008 at 5:18 am#95312chosenoneParticipantAnyone else?
July 3, 2008 at 6:00 pm#95724gollamudiParticipantNick is next?
July 3, 2008 at 7:16 pm#95731NickHassanParticipantHi,
In learn every day about truth
and man's attempts to twist it.So many traditions come to present their wares here
but now and then a jewel shines among the dust.July 3, 2008 at 10:53 pm#95750GeneBalthropParticipantchosenone….I have seen a lot of varied insights here and most are Logical when you conceder the point of views there coming from. but the biggest problem is lack of rules of engagement, like staying on specific subject matter some who can't challenge the posted support given they simply change subject matter, and never acknowledge it as true, so how can any progress be made with that person, most will at least stay on subject or Just not respond at all. We all need to try to be specific to subject matter, if something doesn't say it specifically it should not be use for specific uses
another problem here is not giving the sum of God's words on a subject instead of 2 or 3 support scriptures , i once had a reply to a subject by the person posting all three Gospels where the same thing was said as if that one scripture requoted in three gospels gave it more valid. Another thing is some consider the bible as absolute truth and no errors exist, when in fact many errors are in our present bibles as well as contradictions.. I believe if we could come up with some rules we would get more settled. But I have enjoyed most all here and their incites are interesting and logical. espically, Adam, you, Mandy, 946727, DK, T8, Tim, Irene,Cato, and most even ,WJ at times. I believe all above are looking to learn more truth.
love and peace to all of you……….gene
July 4, 2008 at 4:40 am#95799chosenoneParticipantHi Gene,…Thanks for your contribution, it makes much sense. I share with you some of the same frustrations when some just change the subject when you prove them wrong with scripture as proof. They just don't want to accept the facts when proven wrong. Thanks for your input.
Blessings.
July 4, 2008 at 5:33 am#95804gollamudiParticipantI also agree with my brothers in this view. Let us share them even if somebody negates with those understandings.
Peace to you
AdamJuly 4, 2008 at 6:28 am#95816NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
Remaining open to the possibility of deception seems wiser.July 4, 2008 at 6:49 am#95827gollamudiParticipantI agree with that view, that's why I used to mention that we have to release our inhibitions in sharing what we understood on certain issues then only others can give their opinion on them.
July 4, 2008 at 10:29 am#95835NickHassanParticipantGreat.
To ponder things in hearts before taking offence, and then no one ever will.July 4, 2008 at 11:01 am#95842gollamudiParticipantI agree.
December 18, 2017 at 8:00 am#820161NickHassanParticipantHi,
God has shown me it is all about Him. He does not force Himself on us and He gives everyone a huge amount of freedom. He values genuine searching for Him and offers vital information in the Scriptures if we will study it ourselves comparing verse with verse. We need to look for His consistent hand at work behind all the human vessels He has used. His grace is offered at every turn as He knows how short our lives are and how much we need to learn. Seeking the blessing of the Holy Spirit is the key and the way to this blessing is so simple, too simple for most. It is found in the Son of God.
Human leaders, false understandings and the limitations of the human mind are obstacles and that is why we must become as little children before Him. He will provide enough for every need and the walk is of blessing with the light growing brighter every day.
