First let me remark on how much improved your english is.

I used to believe as you but while studying the scriptures I noticed verse 6 and how else could the earth of closed him in, since he was in the belly of a living creature, other then his soul desending into the pit.

As to comparing Jesus to Jonah, Jesus made the comparison, not me.

    My opinion. Wm

the verse 6 is a prophesy to Christ ,this is true and is not related to Jonah,

this is why Christ quoted that ,

you can't understand it ,?? somethings have to be understood trough the spirit of Christ ,not by letters written,

do you have the spirit of Christ in you or just the letter??

I have both, and a love for truth. I may be wrong, I'm open to that, but it is through scripture I'll be conviced, the Spirit works thru scripture to help us find the proper interpretation not to set new doctrine.

in verse 6 Jonah is not in the pit of the earth ,but Christ is,

there is no new doctrine ,but there is more understanding to the ones who look without doubting in there hearths ,

WM……….maybe you did not understand me , I am agreeing with you on Jesus being in the grave three days and three nights, and the days involved, So what do you mean we will have to agree to disagree about what on this topic? :(

    Gene,
No I understood that we agreed on that much, but I also understand that we disagree on what happens when someone dies.

WM…………Ok i see what you are saying. I do believe when a person dies that is it and his thought parish he is gonzo for ever until he is resurrected and given a body and Spirit added back into it, and he then becomes a living soul again. Remember It says that GOD would not allow His (Jesus') (soul) to see corruption. God raised him up before his Soul (body) corrupted in the grave, But Jesus was truly dead as anyone could be dead and he have (NO) power over his life, just as we don't when we die, and unless GOD raised him from the grave he would still be a dead duck. But GOD did not suffer HIS HOLY ONE TO SEE CORRUPTION IN THE GRAVE.IMO

peace and love to you and your WM……………………………………gene

I believe that scriptures teach that the soul continues on after we die, but without a body the soul languishes in the pit awaiting resurrection for judgment. Once thrown into the lake of fire that person will face torment perportional to their sins then cease to exist for eternity.

The exception to the above are those who through faith, or love, have their sins paid for by Jesus (whether they ever heard of Him or not).

    My opinion – wm
