    hi

free of what did Jesus set his true believers ?

I cannot find one thing that God has given men for free except his life and soul,

even the free gift of his son life ,does bring to us actions to be taken by us ,their are no freebies

    Terraricca,

I think you misunderstand as Nick is actually quoting from a passage in John 6 or 8. He is not saying anything is given for free.

Kerwin……Look up the word offend in the GREEK, it actually means, to prevent, as i recall. Kerwin, i am not saying we are not to have salt in ourselves brother. But we do need to be careful not to discourage . Remember what JESUS SAID “IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR A MILL STONE TO BE PLACED AROUND A PERSONS NECK AND HIM CAST INTO THE SEA ,THEN TO OFFEND, (PREVENT) ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES . So we do need to be careful, we can disagree about scripturial meanings, but we should never be arrogant and make it a personal attack on someones character, i know we ave all done this at times, but we should try not to. IMO

peace and love to you and. ……………gene

    Hi ,

Folks who offer their own ideas and cling to them are likely to be offended when those false ideas are exposed.

    mt 15.12f

” Then the disciples came and said to him

‘Do you know that the pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?’

    But he answered and said

“Every plant which my heavenly father did not plant shall be uprooted.”

    Gene,

I am using as was used in Matthew 15:12 and the short definition is “cause to stumble” (biblehum.com) and the context determines what way the subject is caused to stumble. Offend fits the context.

Kerwin…….I agee with that kerwin, if a person has caused to stumble, then he is working to “prevent” access, right? I know this that JESUS SAID THAT WHOEVER OFFENDS (CAUSE TO STUMBLE) ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR HIM IF A MILL STONE WAS PUT AROUND HIS NICK, AND HE CAST INTO THE SEA. Those are strong words, SO WE NEED TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO in word or deed.IMO

peace and love to you and yours. ………………..gene

    Hi,

Those who walk in darkness do stumble.

The ideas of men are darkness.

    Gene,

Jesus is warning his hearers not to tempt his children to sin.

For instance a Christian choosing to seduce one of his children to be sexual immoral with them or a bother urging a whose weakness is alcoholism to drink alcohol.

    Hi,

The problem with understanding scripture is that it is written by the Spirit.

Unless men have been blessed by the Spirit they can only read the words at face value.

Unless they know the voice of the Spirit all their study is futility

Thus they fall into many various falsehoods

    Hi,

Scripture is written for spiritual men.

It is full of traps for those who would only see face value meanings.

Until you are born again you cannot see the kingdom.

Baptism in the Spirit is the key to unlocking the secrets.

    Hi,

    Spiritual language treats time differently.

The past and future can be translated to the present.

    Logic cannot grasp prophecy.

    Hi,

    Mt 16.5

And the disciples came to the other side of the lake, but they had forgotten to bring any bread.

    And Jesus said to them

“Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”

They began to discuss this among themselves saying

“He said that because we did not bring any bread.

But Jesus ,aware of this said

“You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? Do you not yet understand and remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets full you picked up? Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets ful you picked up? How is it that you do not understand that I did not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”

Then they understood that he did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

It does not pay to take the spiritual words literally.

    Hi,

    Jn 6.66

As a result of this many of the disciples withdrew and were not walking with him anymore. So Jesus said to the twelve

“You do not want to go away also, do you?”

    Simon Peter answered him

“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.We have believed and come to know that you are the Holy One of God”

    faith wins over logic

    Hi,

    mt 13.11

    Jesus  answered them

“to you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance: but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand..”

there is is more to scripture than logic can encompass.

    Hi,

    2 Peter 3.15

” …just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction”

facile logic cannot unravel the spiritual.

    Nick,

    Logic cannot grasp prophecy.

Logic can “grasp” as well as the human mind can with any tool but you have to understand what is said to form sound premises.

The lack of belief introduces a flaw into a logical argument.

    Hi KW,

Human wisdom cannot encompass divine wisdom

    Nick,

You fail to understand what human wisdom is and you confuse it with that what is physical. Wisdom is not a physical attribute. The wisdom that comes from the flesh is human and the wisdom that comes from the Spirit is godly. Logical reasoning is a tool that can be used by either but it is only correctly used by those that are carried along by the Spirit.
