t8,
I see a few other errors he makes. 1) he puts too much stress on the ten commandments which are but part of the law. To be particular they are the part of the Law God was able to speak before the Hebrew became to terrified of hearing his voice he also write them on stone. The rest he imparted to the Hebrew people through Moses. 2) he assumes no one can keep which false as the young ruler kept the ten but fail to charitable to those need. Of course charity is a require of the Law though not of the ten themselves so if you extend it to the whole law then no man can keep the whole without living by the Spirit and the Spirit can only be received and lived by through faith in Jesus Christ His argument comes off as some variation of you cannot stop sinning so pray Jesus in your heart and you can go on sinning without concern for your soul.
October 30, 2015 at 10:38 am#804309ProclaimerParticipantKerwin, he preaches repentance and forgiveness. That means that when we sin, we have a covenant. He does not preach that it is okay to sin. That would be misrepresenting him.
As for his use of the 10 commandments, I do not have a problem with it. If it helps bring conviction, then it shows what a great gift salvation is. He seems to have much success with this method of delivering the gospel. I realize that the spirit convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgement, but the law can invoke this in our understanding. It is written that the law is the tutor that can lead men to Christ and we know that that Christ is the end of the law or the fulfillment of it. And there is no point in Ray preaching all the laws as he would have no time to get around to the gospel then.
Galatians 3:23-25
But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.Romans 10:4-5
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness. And for some sound advice on how we should treat him for preaching the gospel can be found in Philippians 1:18.
But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,If we complain about him preaching the gospel and we do not preach the gospel, then we have no right to criticize. If we also preach the gospel, then we should rejoice when others do so too. The gospel can save the souls of sinners. Each soul is more precious to God than to us and blessed are those who partake in this work. If we criticize, then we should how it is done IMO.

October 30, 2015 at 12:00 pm#804313NickHassanParticipantHi lox,
You say Jesus is God?
So God told us to pray to God in heaven?
You offer the misunderstandings of men about the Son of God.
October 30, 2015 at 12:22 pm#804314ProclaimerParticipantDo you believe Jesus own words?
John 17:3
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.October 30, 2015 at 1:04 pm#804318ProclaimerParticipantRay Comfort put these words on his Facebook page today.
Jesus said, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Are you doing that? Are you praying for laborers? If you don’t share your faith with others, then you won’t pray for laborers.

My source may be wrong or misrepresent his view by using a little of what he states out of context.
October 30, 2015 at 1:13 pm#804320kerwinParticipantt8,
If you care for people you will do that even without Jesus’s teaching to do so.

There are those that use repentance and forgiveness as an excuse for continuing to sin.
The message of Scripture is not “when we sin” but rather ” if any man sin”. (1 John 2:1)
Jesus came to save us from our sins (Matthew 1:21) not from the consequences of our sins; though he accomplishes that as well.

Romans 10:4-5
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.Good luck with that as all those that live under the law has was the flesh for they were no given the Spirit to live according to. That function of the Spirit is a promise of the new covenant.
Romans 1:17Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Those that walk by the Spirit obtain that righteousness while they walk by the Spirit and the Spirit is given through faith in Jesus Christ and walked by through faith in Jesus Christ. The righteous literally live by faith.

Good luck with what exactly?

Agreed. But what is your point exactly. Do you think I disagree with your point?
October 30, 2015 at 1:58 pm#804327AndrewADParticipantIf one cannot know the true God without knowing Jesus Christ then what does that really mean?
October 30, 2015 at 4:01 pm#804335ProclaimerParticipantIt means that Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
October 30, 2015 at 4:05 pm#804337kerwinParticipantAndrewAD,
God is invisible so he is known in the same way a wind is known. Jesus Christ displays the fullness of God even as believers that walk according to the Spirit display the fullness of Jesus. When two or more of the believers are gathered they will see Jesus in the others just as God is visible in Jesus. God is also visible in those that live by the Spirit but Jesus is the means by which God lives in them through his Spirit.
October 30, 2015 at 4:12 pm#804338kerwinParticipantt8,
The idea of living by the Law when all that you have is the flesh to live by is an impossible task because the works of the flesh are sin. That is why its written to those under the law that “.. all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;…” There are better things for those that enter the new covenant. Paul knowing this was teaching believers not to put aside the Spirit in order to use human effort (works) in a hopeless attempt to obtain righteousness by the law.
October 30, 2015 at 4:15 pm#804339kerwinParticipantt8,
The purpose is to reveal the difference between between being under the Law and under the covenant of Christ. You may already know that difference.
October 30, 2015 at 4:26 pm#804342ProclaimerParticipantWhat does this have to do with Ray Comfort preaching the 10 Commandments before giving the gospel?
October 30, 2015 at 4:48 pm#804343Lox1ParticipantGod is the purest of pure, holy of holiest , human man could never be exposed ( because of our sinfulness ) to that kind of purity without it literally killing us. In the Bible even Moses hair turned white after talking with God, and he was as close as one would ever come. Jesus was/is a human mediator between us and God. We are to live and learn throughout our lives from Jesus to become as liken unto him as humanly possible to prepare us to even stand in the presence of God . To know Jesus IS to know God.
October 30, 2015 at 4:55 pm#804344kerwinParticipantLox1,
Sounds good!
