Hi GM,
Christ means the anointed one so since he was not anointed till the Jordan, no.August 4, 2008 at 3:13 pm#100075GeneBalthropParticipantAdam………Christ only means anointed and the anointing can be ON you or it can Be IN you, in the old testament the anointing was ON them but not in them, in the New Testament the anointing is IN people thats the difference, The anointing in the old testament could leave them, but in the New Testament it Never leaves, Like Jesus said I will send the comforter and it will abide with you for ever. I believe Jesus had the Spirit on Him and later possible at the baptism in then Jordan it went into Him, Just my opinion.
Love and peace to you and yours………..gene
August 4, 2008 at 7:23 pm#100089NickHassanParticipantHi GB,
Do you have any scriptural support for this popular idea?It seems Isaac and Jacob will be seated with us at the wedding feast.
Their inheritance seems to be identical to ours.
Matthew 8:11
I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
Luke 13:28
“There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out.
Galatians 4:28
Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise.August 4, 2008 at 11:05 pm#100097NickHassanParticipantHi,
Christ was sent and anointed by the Spirit of God.Jn12
18Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.August 5, 2008 at 12:16 am#100106GeneBalthropParticipantNick………The kingdom of Heaven is not Christ' kingdom, Christ kingdom is delivered up to the kingdom of heaven at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ and the Saints on earth, and Christ will be subject to it also as spoken of in 1 Cor 15:24-28…> notice 28..> now when all things are made subject to him, then the son HIMSELF will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God many be ALL and IN ALL> It plainly shows Jesus will deliver His Kingdom to God the Father. Jesus will received a Kingdom in this earth and that kingdom will be delivered up to God and become the kingdom of God to All and be in All. I believe there are two kingdoms mentioned in scripture one is of GOD and the other is Jesus' earthly rule. And i do believe that ultimately all the patriots will go into the kingdom of God. Will they be in the kingdom of Christ I doubt that, i think it only the Those who have the Spirit of God IN them from the time of Christ forward. Just my opinion.
The statement you quoted about the weeping and gnashing of teeth when they (SEE) Abraham shows they are resurrected at the time this happens and that has to be in the second resurrection that takes place at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ.
Again just my opinion. The analogy you show about we being the Children of Promise doe not imply Promise of resurrection on Isaac in Christ' Kingdom, but Paul was only using it as an example of God's promising work in us.
Again this is imo………..peace………..gene
August 5, 2008 at 1:49 am#100116NickHassanParticipantHi GB,
Jesus was GIVEN the kingdom.
Dan7
13I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.14And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
He later gives that kingdom back to God.[1Cor15]
August 5, 2008 at 7:14 am#100150gollamudiParticipantHi brothers Nick and Gene,
Thanks for your explanation on the Chtist of God. I agree with you. But you have not answered my question fully; whether the Spirit of Christ existed prior to Jesus' anointing at Jordan?
Thanks and blessings
AdamAugust 5, 2008 at 7:46 am#100156NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
The Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of God given to Christ.
Scripture thus speaks of the Holy Spirit even before residing in Christ, as the Spirit of Christ.1Peter1
10Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:11Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
Speaking of the 'men of old' GB, that Spirit was IN THEM, not ON THEM.
August 5, 2008 at 8:07 am#100160gollamudiParticipantThanks brother Nick.
Do you mean to say that the rock that followed Israelites in the wilderness is none but Spirit of Christ?August 5, 2008 at 8:20 am#100162NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
Exactly. They drank of the water of life for which he has become our source.
1Cor10
1 Corinthians 10:4
and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.Jn7
37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
August 5, 2008 at 9:12 am#100166gollamudiParticipantSo there is preexistence of Spirit of Christ but not Jesus?
August 5, 2008 at 9:14 am#100167NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
God has no beginning.
His Spirit now shared with Christ and us is an aspect of Him.August 5, 2008 at 9:24 am#100171gollamudiParticipantYes, This is what I want to say to you that Spirit of Christ from God has not any beginning or end. Only Jesus is having the beginning on his birth in this world but not the Spirit with which he has been anointed.
August 5, 2008 at 9:36 am#100173NickHassanParticipantQuote (gollamudi @ Aug. 05 2008,21:24) Yes, This is what I want to say to you that Spirit of Christ from God has not any beginning or end. Hi GM,
The anointing life of the Spirit of God given to Christ caused his rebirth in the Jordan.
Like us, his own spirit had to leave and his body to die, as that spirit belonged to God and returns to Him, and that body belonged to the realm of earth and could not inherit the kingdom.
But his own origins were not just from earth but from heaven, and from everlasting. He became the son of man, the second Adam, but he at his death became life giving spirit.August 5, 2008 at 10:17 am#100183gollamudiParticipantI agree brother, But I ask, you what part of him has been came down from heaven if he has really conceived like you and me?
August 5, 2008 at 10:23 am#100186NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
Conception is of the body enlivened by the passing on of the breath of God.Ps 139
13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
August 5, 2008 at 10:25 am#100189gollamudiParticipantSo breath of God means any difference to first Adam and Jesus?
August 5, 2008 at 10:26 am#100190NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
Man was made in the image of God.That image does not involve the dust of earth but the inner man of soul and spirit.
All heavenly beings, even God [ps11], are of soul and spirit. To become like us the word had to empty himself and a body was prepared for him.
August 5, 2008 at 10:29 am#100191NickHassanParticipantQuote (gollamudi @ Aug. 05 2008,22:25) So breath of God means any difference to first Adam and Jesus?
Hi GM,
Yes,
Adam became a living soul.
Jesus was a living soul and a body was prepared for him.To have a human dust body is to be a man.
Gen3
19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.August 5, 2008 at 10:30 am#100192gollamudiParticipantSo soul and spirit not spirit alone comes from God? OK that is different topic.
Here you say word has emptied to enter Jesus body. Earlier you told that the breath of God entered Jesus at conception which one you agree? - AuthorPosts
