Hi GB,
This is what they lost“10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”
The servants of the bridegroom
were not known by him.July 31, 2008 at 7:36 pm#99414NickHassanParticipantHi,
Matthew 25
1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
So it seems that half of those few chosen as servants failed in their duties and were not accepted into the millenial kingdom. The stupefying influence of darkness and death overcame all of them. All of them had been given a lamp and some oil. They were expecting the return before the Master did come and somehow missed opportunities to replenish their oil while they were awake.

Mt25
27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
So the grace given remains the property of God and must not be ignored but we must use it for the kingdom's sake. Grace must build on grace as we walk in the light. Death comes as does darkness and we must be found yet alive in the Spirit when the king returns.
August 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm#99846GeneBalthropParticipantNick….if you understand what the OIL is please tell us. I always thought it represented the HOLY SPIRIT, but you seem to think it represents our works, am i right?

wrong.
The Spirit of grace.Zechariah 12:10
“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.Hebrews 10:29
How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?December 30, 2008 at 6:51 pm#116088NickHassanParticipantHi,
So who are bridesmaids?
They are the closest family and friends chosen and fitted to help at the wedding. So they are sons and daughters of God and friends of the bride.
Reborn from above and yet fully half of them are ifound nadequately prepared.Though wakened from the sleep of death by the abiding Spirit they are found to be unable to rise and meet the bridegroom in the air. The doors to the wedding feast are closed in their face and they are compelled to face the rigours of the great tribulation.
What we are granted at salvation is a measure of faith and all grace that is sufficient to obtain from the storehouse of God everything we need, but obedience yet demands we walk, seek, ask, listen, serve gaining more grace in doing so and being useful to our master.
Complacency is what causes men to glory in their hopes but not obey.
What results is stunted growth, fruitless trees, stillborn sons and daughters.Luke 8:18
“So take care how you listen; for whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him.”December 30, 2008 at 7:05 pm#116091NickHassanParticipantHi,
1Cor3
10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Thr great tribulation is as fire.
December 30, 2008 at 7:30 pm#116093GeneBalthropParticipantNick….i thought you believed in a literal fire, good to see you have changed your mind. While i agree with most of what Mr steve said, and you. i disagree with your thinking they all have been anointed with Gods spirit though, i think the foolish are the ones who come to Christ and say look at all these (GOOD) works (WE) by our own “FREE WILLS” did and Jesus did not deny they did them, but they were a work of iniquity, why in my opinion it was because they (Foolishly) thought they by their (FREE WILL) Choices could (work) their way onto the Kingdom of GOD, but when the time came they are found without (Gods Spirit) along with their Spirit in them it could not be done, So they were advised to go to hims and by for themselves. Remember the five wise to extra OIL (Spirit) God's Spirit in them. Your assumption that all had Gods spirit in them i believe is a error. They may have thought they did but when the time came they realized they did not have it, in them. again IMO.

Did you think the fiery trials of the sons of God proves the lake of fire for the heathen does not exist?December 30, 2008 at 7:41 pm#116098NickHassanParticipantGB,
You should show more respect for the word of God than try to turn it against itself.
It is greater than you and your intellect.December 30, 2008 at 7:55 pm#116099GeneBalthropParticipantNick……..i wouldn't be talking about Heathens so much you, may be one and not even know it. And please show me where i disrespected the word of GOD i may disrespect your words but certainly not the word of GOD. Is that all you can do is make condescending remarks about people that disagree with you or your ” interpretations” of what scripture says?. Hardly a fruit of the Spirit.

Read rev 20 and all of scripture in a spirit of faith.
Do not take it on yourself to tell others what they should not believe.December 30, 2008 at 9:45 pm#116104GeneBalthropParticipantTo All……..The wise told the foolish to go to Him that sells and by for themselves. This is an interesting statement , Because in
Isa 55:1…..> it says HO, every one that thirsts, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea come, buy wine and milk without money and without price
Pro 17:16…> wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it.
neither does the foolish have a heart for it either.
When we take of our time and seek God and ask for His spirit we are purchasing fuel for our vessels . The wise do this , the foolish rely on there own Self and their so-called “free choices” to save them, but come up short in the end. imolove and peace…………….gene

So we come to Jesus, the fountain of life.December 30, 2008 at 10:50 pm#116116GeneBalthropParticipantNick……Jesus told use to ASK GOD for the Spirit, not Him, are you putting Jesus ahead of God in the salvation process? We are told it is GOD who works in us (BOTH) to WILL and DO of HIS good Pleasure. are you now change scripture to meet you self made doctrine of salvation. ARE you not acting like most all RCC and Protestant Religions and pushing GOD the FATHER out of the PICTURE> Isn't it better we listen to Jesus and what he says about the FATHER and APPLY that to ourself also as he did his life.

I hope the vine agrees.December 30, 2008 at 11:46 pm#116126GeneBalthropParticipantNick….it does or it's not of GOD. Jesus does agree with the FATHER , you know that.

You seem to want to diminish the role of the vine.January 1, 2009 at 5:41 am#116260GeneBalthropParticipantNick…..As i said before the vine gets it nourishment from the same place the branches do. ONE GOD. and i am not diminishing anything , it you who are diminishing the Father something Jesus never did. Your putting the vine ahead of Him that formed and made and sustains it. You need to go and read more of what Jesus said about the Father, you might be able to get a proper balance then.
The Father is reconciling the world to (HIMSELF) through Christ, not to Jesus through Jesus.

The vine said you can do nothing without him.
