Romans 10:9-10.  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Note what it does not say:

    1.  It does not say you have to confess your sins.
    2.  It does say you have to go to church.
    3.  It does not say anything about accepting Jesus as your savior.  Although admittedly, when anyone makes and keeps him lord in their life, their life will improve incredibly, first off, by their obtaining salvation.
    4.  It does not say anything about repenting or crying your eyes out, or answering an altar call.   They may be involved, but have nothing to do with obtaining salvation.

The way to salvation was made very simple because of what God had Jesus Christ do for us.

    Hi Barley,

Have you ever considered these verses?
Ezekiel 35:5-6 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred,
and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword (The Bible)
in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end: Therefore, as I live, saith the
Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even
blood shall pursue thee. Could this be talking about different the denominations now trying to convert each other?

    God bless

Ezekiel is not a book that I have spent a lot of time in.

I would not want to venture an opinion of what those verses are intended to communicate.  What I do know about the book of Ezekiel is that is has nothing to specifically say to the age in which we live.  That is, after the day of Pentecost.  Ezekiel is a portion of the truth that God revealed to Israel.  (and it maybe that some portions of it pertain to the Gentiles)  What these truths can teach us that help us out today, I will let others handle.  We, as Christians have plenty on our plate without trying to take on God's will to Israel.

There is plenty that we could learn from each other. Let us grow up to have the humility and meekness to do so.

    Hi Barley,

How can you 'know that' if you have not 'spent a lot of time in' it?

    Ed J,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the lord Jesus Christ.

Scripture is not universally applicable to all.

That is, not all truths taught in scripture are to be applied to everyone.

This may seem like an obvious truth.  Only Adam and Eve were told not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  They were expelled for disobeying.  We do not have that commandment.  Yet we can learn from it.  We are not in the garden, but Romans 15:4 tells us that the scripture written aforetime was written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Who did God tell to build the ark in order to live through the coming flood?  You?  Moses?  No. of course not.  Noah.

Because God told Noah to build an ark, are we compelled to build an ark also?  No.

See, this stuff is so obvious it is almost embarrassing to even mention it.  But it becomes more intriguing  in more subtle situations.

Was Noah or Abraham subject to the law God gave to Moses?  No.  the law was not yet given.  For that matter, was Abraham an Israelite?  No,  Abraham was a Gentile. Israel, ie, Jacob was Abe's grandson.

Did Jesus Christ come to destroy the law? No. He came to fulfill it.

Why? So a better covenant could come.

Am I subject to what Jesus taught to the lost sheep of the house of Israel?  No.  I am not of the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

I can learn from the things that JC taught to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, but I am not that Israel.

How does God classify people today?  I Corinthians 10:32 gives us the answer.   “Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God.”  That gives us three categories of people.  Jews, Gentiles and the church of God.

Are you going to subject yourself to the law of Moses which was given to Israel?

See Acts 15:10 where Peter speaks of the law of Moses in relationship to new converts to Christianity.  “Now therefore, why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

What has God given to us to live by?

The law of Moses?  No. that was for Israel.  How about Jesus'  teachings to the  lost sheep of the house of Israel?  Nope.  I am a part of the church of God.  Romans through Thessalonians tells us what the standards for the church of God are.

We are not justified by the works of the law.  Galatians 3:11.  We are justified by the faith of Jesus Christ and therefore have peace with God.  Romans 5:1  “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our lord Jesus Christ.

Israel was foretold of the wrath to come.  The church of God is saved from the wrath to come.  Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being justified by his blood, we shall be saved from the wrath to come.”

Ezekiel was not written to the church of God, it was written to Israel.  There is plenty we can learn from the book of Ezekiel, but it is not written to the church of God. There is plenty we can learn from every book that pertains to Israel, but we are not that Israel.

There is plenty you could learn from reading my mail. But are you going to pay my bills? No, you pay the bills addressed to you, I'll pay the bills addressed to me.

Have a great day living in God's grace.

To All…………ALL life in GOD'S Creation Have WATER IN IT, nothing that exist in a physical form is without WATER (IN) It, So when Jesus said you must be Born of or from, WATER and SPIRIT (Again) He was absolute right. In order for us to exist in the future we must have water the composition of physical life, and Spirit to create us again after death. IMO

peace and love to you all……………………..gene

A very good post, you have a good understanding of scripture. Paul said in 2Tim.2:15 … Endeavor to present yourself to God qualified, an unashamed worker, correctly cutting the word of truth.
You have done this very well.

    God Bless, Jerry.
