    Hi Ed J,

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8 makes it clear to me that Jesus is a Son of God BECAUSE the Spirit of God bears witness to his spirit that he is. Likewise it makes clear to me that Jesus is a Son of God BECAUSE he is led by the Spirit of God.

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 IN THIS THE CHILDREN of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

According to God’s word, FIRST you have a son of David and THEN God becomes a Father unto him. Jesus was the ONLY mortal man to have been begotten by God where the Spirit came upon him and directed all his ways and he was SENT to then do all that God commanded him. He died and was raised receiving the promised Holy Spirit Spirit, he was raised being begotten by God becoming now a firstborn of many brethren. He was as a mortal man the only begotten, but now he is an eternal man one of many to be begotten.

    Hi Proclaimer and Ed J,

4 -6 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant..

Paul is speaking to people who were anointed with the Spirit and sent out being not of this world as the anointed Jesus was sent and was not of this world. They performed miracles being in the form of God holding in them His power doing His work, raising the dead even! These needed to be like minded with the anointed Jesus, not seeking vain glory, but being a humble servant.

    Hi Ed J and Proclaimer,

You say Jesus was a pre-existing anointed spirit son who came down to earth and became a man, if I am correct.

So how do you explain the below verse, where you believe it is speaking of the pre-existing son becoming a man, but yet it says he “was made in the likeness of men”?

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

    Hi Proclaimer and Ed J,

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

As I believe Christ Jesus is the man who God anointed with the Spirit for to be sent to deliver captives, I believe that he was made in the likeness of men when God made him to be sin for us and he was found in fashion as a man when he was numbered with transgressors, even though he was without sin.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Mark 15:27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. 28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

    Hi Ed J and Proclaimer,

I was hoping to get a response from the posts above.

You really think that Paul is asking people to be like minded with an anointed spirit son before he came to earth, where they were to think of themselves as being equal with God as they were in the form of God?

My previous stance still stands where Paul is asking those who were anointed with the Spirit being sent out to perform God’s will would be like minded with Jesus who was likewise anointed and sent. He did not seek vain glory, he gave all credit to God and His Spirit doing all works with brotherly love.

    Hi Ed J,

4-7 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

You seem to deny the account of Jesus being anointed and sent according to scripture, where because of THAT ANOINTING he was able to speak God’s word and deliver captives (be a savior), he was able to do God’s work.

Upon this anointed Jesus being sent he made himself of no reputation, where he gave all credit to God doing all things in the name of YHVH. That Spirit being upon him where he was sent to do God’s work was him being in the FORM of God. He even said that seeing him was seeing God, hearing him was hearing God because God was in him doing the work through the Spirit that came upon him.

You seem to deny that there was NO COMING of a savior until AFTER the baptism John preached.

You seem to be denying and not apply that we are told that as Jesus was not of this world, they were not of this world, and as they were sent he was sent. Him being NOT OF THIS WORLD means that he came from heaven, him being SENT being not of this world meant he was sent from heaven.

Jesus never once taught that he was a spirit that came to earth and that because of him being that spirit that came to earth he did great works, it was all about the Spirit of God that came upon him. You are even told that this was the beginning of the Gospel, that this was the WORD that was preached, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth”. Jesus even tells you that the Son of Man CAME to save that which was lost. Jesus even tells you when it was that he was sent.

Taking a passage that says it is speaking of the anointed JESUS, and saying it is not speaking of this JESUS but instead that it’s speaking of who you believe JESUS was BEFORE he was actually JESUS is in my opinion very bad form.

Applying a passage to say it is speaking of a glorified spirit son in heaven, verses the human anointed Jesus on earth drastically changes the context entirely. The passage IS speaking of the anointed JESUS of Nazareth it is to be applied directly to him. We are being told what was in his mind, what his thoughts were, not the thoughts of who you believe he was before, not the thoughts of some spirit with glory in heaven, it is the actual thoughts of Jesus as an anointed man.

    Hi Jodi,

If you would make one point and give one Scripture.

    or

Ask one question…. then we would have something to discuss

That would be helpful, to each other and to others.

But long convoluted speeches I have not time for. I have
studied the bible for over 40 years, I don’t need an interpreter.

“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and
ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you
of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” (1 John 2:27)

    Hi Ed J,

    There is a difference between,

Paul asking folks to be like minded with a spirit son with glory who made himself of no reputation and took upon him a form of a servant coming to earth to be like a man.

    verses

Paul asking folks to be like minded with the man who was anointed and sent to do God’s work being a servant, where they were also anointed and sent to do God’s work as servants, being not of this world as he was not of this world and sent as he was sent.

    There is a difference between,

Paul asking folks to be like minded with a spirit son with glory.

    verses

Paul asking folks to be like minded with a man who was like them able to be tempted, a man who feared death, a man who faced persecution and execution.

    Hi Ed J,

    CONTEXT,

    Phil 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Acts 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Luke 4: 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath ANOINTED ME TO preach the gospel to the poor; he hath SENT ME to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

    Hi Berean,

The text IS speaking of the SON OF MAN.

Jesus is speaking of being raised up from the dead being quickened (made alive) by the Spirit, where he then would be a witness to many alive on earth again. However many did not believe in him and the resurrection that he preached.

62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63 It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

    Hi Berean,

Jesus said that the Spirit was upon him, AN ANOINTING for the purpose that he be SENT to do God’s work, which included speaking God’s word (Luke 4).

We are likewise told in John 3 “he whom God SENT speaks the word of God for God giveth him the Spirit not by measure”.

Jesus likewise tells us that he was sanctified and sent. (John 10:36)

    Now READ John 17,

16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Berean, when Jesus spoke about not being “of the world”, where then was he and others considered to have come from upon being sent?

They were SENT DOWN FROM HEAVEN of course! Jesus and those that were likewise sanctified and sent came directly from HEAVEN ABOVE, directly from God.

    Hi All,

Below we read Jesus quoting God’s WORD of prophecy and how that WORD of God was made true in him, the WORD made true in a man of flesh.

Luke 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

John 3 tells us that not only did he receive the Spirit, AN ANOINTING, but that he received that Spirit upon him not by measure. The prophet Isaiah even prophesied what this man of flesh, a son of Jesse, would receive more specifically, the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of Understanding, the Spirit of Council and Might, and of Knowledge and fear of the LORD.

Is there any other mortal man of God’s WORD who would be begotten with God’s Spirit without measure, where the people would then behold his glory as one who was filled with such grace and truth?

    NO!

There was only WORD of one man, one son of Jesse, whereby God’s WORD of a special anointing would be made true in the flesh.

This WORD we are told is the BEGINNING OF THE GOSPEL!

The Gospel, the Good News AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE PROPHETS!

    Acts 10,

37 That WORD, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

    Mark 1,

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee….

…7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. 8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

    As written in the prophets, “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

“And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people;…And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”

As written in the prophets, And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever. 13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy (goodness) away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee: 14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.

The beginning of the Good News is God’s WORD made true in the flesh of Jesus of Nazareth. That WORD, how God anointed him with all His goodness, begetting him with His Spirit without measure, made into a Son of God just as we are promised to be Sons of God, through being LED/DIRECTED by God’s Spirit.

As written in the prophets, “Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. 12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded. 13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

The GOOD NEWS that began upon the baptism and anointing of Jesus of Nazareth, he was filled with the Spirit to do God’s work delivering captives so that we could likewise be filled with the Spirit, being also made in the image of the Son, a Son of God by being LED by the One Spirit.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Mark 10:39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them,Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: 40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

Matthew 19:28 And Jesus said unto them,Verily I say unto you, That ye which have FOLLOWED ME, in the regeneration (NEW BIRTH) when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

John 3:5 Jesus answered,Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration (NEW BIRTH), and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Acts 13:23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: 24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
