How are we one with God?
Peter ask Christ. “Show us the Father and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus looks at him and say; “Peter have I been so long with you and you do not know me?”
So is Jesus God the son or God the Father. Actually neither completely. Jesus the perfect matured man was filled with the Father completely. Col 2/9 In him dwells the fullness of the the godhead bodily. In Jesus’ being/body dwelt the fullness of the Father, the fullness of God.
Jesus was saying to Peter “Are you still so dull Peter? Can you not look at me and see the Father in me?” Have you ever seen a christian that was “so full of God” that it just flowed out of them. You could see God beam thru their eyes. What was it you saw? God in them.
This was prophesied of Jesus many times. His name would be called Everlasting Father. Why? Because the Father dwelled in Him. Emanuel = God is with us. How? He resides bodily in the man Christ. Remember that in Hebrew, “name” means character or reputation. Jesus was like the Father in character.
Jesus even said it himself. Father as you and I are one, make them one with us. This is not a trinity proof text. this is Jesus himself saying, “Father, our relationship is the deepest it can be. There is no sin in my heart separating me from you. We have become one in heart, motives, desires and intentions. So I pray Father, that you would make the rest of humanity one with us. Help them to achieve the same relationship. Teach them, nurture them, speak with them and walk with them. Help them overcome as I have overcome. Be a father to them even as you have fathered me.
One of the last proofs of this is the story of doubting Thomas.
Here is Thomas doubting the report of the resurrection of Christ.
Christ appears to him and says place your fingers in the nail holes. Jesus proves that it is indeed Jesus.
Thomas exclaims “My Lord and my God”.
    What was Thomas saying?
Lord in this verse is the Greek word “kurios”. It means master or authority. It is not a name of God.
God in this verse is the Greek word “Theos”. This is a name for God.
So what did Thomas see looking at Jesus?
The power of the resurrection finally got the truth through to Thomas. He saw Jesus the man. The master, Rabbi, teacher, he who has authority and (in addition to) he saw God. He saw the resurrected man of authority, Jesus the Christ and dwelling in him the most high God. They were one!

There are those like the Pharisees that are steeped in their traditions. They are secure in the kingdom they have themselves built. They fear vulnerability to the truth because it causes them to think outside of their own box. They proclaim to be followers of Christ while at the same time they develop traditions, doctrines and philosophies to make sure they do not have to pay the price to follow in Christ footsteps. They make for themselvs doctrines that push God off and make relationship with Him shallow, difficult or impossible. They make God an austere being that is in control of everything so they do not have to make choices. They degrade God’s most precious creation, man, in order to nullify the calling and position man is supposed to occupy in the kingdom of God. They do not believe that Jesus the man is really the pattern we are to follow, and so they make him a god in order to justify their not becoming like him. They take on the role of rebellious children and downgrade the position of God as their Father. They become gnostics, lifted up in knowledge and mental ascension christianity in order to hide their hearts from their Father. They constantly seek head data to delude themselves into believing they are walking with God while they in their heart run from real confrontation with God. They look at God from a philosophical Greek thinking standpoint and see Him after his attributes, such as he is omnipresent, omniscient and eternal and at the same time deny or completely miss His characteristics as a Father, friend, and lover. They rally around, build or seek “so called” ministries that are based on the exchange of head data and actually believe they are doing a tremendous service to the body. They make rules to follow in every situation so as to avoid having to make personal contact with their Father/mentor in all circumstances. Though no one will admit to sitting out to do these actions, in their hearts, which are so easily deceived, they begin building a wall between themselves and the relationship God desires to have with them. This was the failing of the Jews and the reason they missed their own messiah.
Israel had seen God’s awesome might displayed many times and had taken the stand of being in fear of God. They eventually declined to be a kingdom of priests who all knew God in a one on one basis. Although God had treated them with great kindness, their fear that God would kill them was so great that they begged God not to speak to them directly, instead asking Him to tell Moses what things they should do. Exodus 20:18-20. God honored their request and gave Israel the Law, the Tabernacle, the human priesthood and prophets. Exodus 20:20-21, 21:1. All of these institutions together were designed to permit any individual Israelite who was not a priest to maintain a pseudo – relationship with God without ever seeing him, hearing him or speaking to him personally. In fact this fear of God was so profound that at one point in history the High Priest would have a rope tied around his ankle, when he entered the Holy of Holies in case God stuck him dead, thus enabling others to pull him out without entering in themselves.

The Law, which if any man do these things he shall live, permitted the individual to know God's will in thousands of individual choice situations without taking the risk involved in asking him directly. Leviticus 18:5; Psalm 119:97-104. The tabernacle permitted the people to perceive God as walking among them, yet at a psychologically safe distance – he did not dwell in every Israelite's tent, but only in the Tabernacle, behind veils, where they would never be required – or even permitted – to look at him. Exodus 40:20-21, 34-38. Keep in mind that when Jesus finally fulfilled what man was created for, the veil was torn. God in essence said. “Now you have a pattern. Your sins are washed away. You too can come into my presence, personally, and have relationship with me even as your brother Jesus has done. He paved the way. You need only follow.
The priesthood gave Israel representatives who would appear before God in their place and offer on their behalf sacrifices to appease God's anger, greatly reducing the need to speak to him directly. The institution of the prophets permitted God to speak to the people when necessary without speaking to them directly. Deuteronomy 18:14-19; I Samuel 3:2-10. In this matter, God gave his people what they asked for – the means to live in covenant with him, receiving His love without ever speaking with him directly.
However, there were Israelites who knew the open “secret” behind the law – that God had always desired that each of his people know him in a relational personal way. Psalm 36:5-10. Perhaps the best example of these Israelites who knew God was David, who is called a man after God's own heart. I Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22. David was not a priest, yet he often spoke to God directly, as many of the Psalms record. Moreover, David was not one of the institutional prophets, yet God sometimes spoke to him directly in answer to his prayers. I Samuel 23:4-5, 10-12, 30:7-8; 2 Samuel 2:1.
David was a friend of God. He came boldly before the thrown of God.

God did not create man to have a race or robotic slaves that will bow on command. He did not create man so as to have millions of baby hueys that are 50 years old, bottle fed, unproved and still in diapers.
Jesus is not coming back for a 3 year old bride. He wants a bride without spot or wrinkle or any such thing. He wants a bride that has walked the same path as Him. A bride who ha
s built relationship with their mutual Father. A bride that does not wear fig leaves of their own doctrinal design to hide their vulnerable parts from God. A bride that does not hide in the garden in fear of vulnerability when their father comes to walk and have deep intimate relationship with them.
A bride and matured child of God that does not place their security in what they know or think they know or have devised about God, but one who knows Jesus.

Many will come to me in that day and say Lord, Lord did we not prophecy in Thy name, and in Thy name cast out our demons, and do mighty miracles and I will reply depart from me you who practice lawlessness I never knew you. (Mat. 7:21-23)

So I ask this board, How much do you really want to know God? What traditions of man are you willing to lay down? How much of the kingdom you have built outside of God are you willing to tear down? How much like Jesus do you really want to be? How much of God’s plan do you really want to see fulfilled in your life?
I do not expect everyone on this board to agree with me. I do not expect everyone to see the truth of what I am saying here. I do not expect my stating these words alone to this board to really change anyone’s life. The best I can do is plant a seed and ask that you do like David and Jonathon and go up the mountain and see what God will do. I challenge everyone on this board to take what I have said before the LORD your God and see if God picks these things up and begins to change you. I chalenge you to seek out your brother Jesus and ask if this be true.

martian………It is truly about a relationship with Jesus and the Father as you have said brother. God said “I am found by those who seek me. We must truly seek him with all our hearts and i believe we will find Him and see Him in our lives. Like you say head knowledge is just that , but a relationship is what counts. I have seen God's hand in my life many, many, times. I believe the proof is indeed in the results. We stand individually before the Throne of Grace. True FAITH is the ISSUE. But Jesus said when the son of Man comes will he find Faith on the earth? that is the question IMO.

peace and love to you and yours………………………gene

It is interesting that “faith” in the hebrew could easily be defined as “working with God to accomplish His goals”. Faith is not simply believing but it is an action word and means to wok with God. Unfortunately in many doctrines there is not way to work on anything. It is pure head knowledge that has no functional purpose. These mental ascension doctrines hold no purpose and do nothing to further God's plan in the Earth. they do nothing to help us follow in the path of Christ.
Let me compare a True Faith doctrine with a Mental philosophical doctrine.

God in the fully Human Christ –
Here is a pure and complete example of how to walk with God as a perfected human son. Christ has no power or knowledge not available to the rest of humanity. This has several effects on the believer. –
    1. It gives us hope that we can do the same things as this human Christ. This is not proven by believing in some some abstract thought process but by knowing a real living example.
    2. It gives a real attainable goal that we can work toward. We have a blueprint to follow. in fact a temple/Christ that has already been constructed from the same building materials and processes as are available to us.

    The Trinity/Preexisitant Christ
Christ has knowledge on Earth from a prior life in heaven. Christ is fully God or God/man.
    1. There is not hope in this doctrine because how can a normal human ever hope to become a super-human or a God?
    2. There is no path to follow because the one blazed by Christ is dependent on his prior knowledge or deity/power.
    3. Even the God/man theory leaves the possibilities to speculation and guesswork. Which of Christ accomplishments can we do? Which was done by the man portion of christ and which were done by the God portion?
    4. Because of the previous points, there is nothing in this doctrine to work toward. Do we work toward becoming a God? Can we work toward a goal only accomplished by some knowledge attained in a prior life?

Most Christians say they want to follow Christ as their example yet still cling to doctrines that make that virtually impossible. There is a great sadness in that.

I can see us standing at the starting blocks of our race to Heaven saying, “OK God you want me to follow Christ? Give me my knowledge I had from my prior life or give me some form of deity so I can do this race. After all that's how christ did it.”

    Martian,

    Great job!

“They degrade God’s most precious creation, man, in order to nullify the calling and position man is supposed to occupy in the kingdom of God. You were able to put in a few words clearly what I have struggled to say.  Having ideas in the mind and heart is one thing.  Having the best words to say them is something else.

When trinitarians speak of believers relegating Jesus Christ to being a “mere man”  I start asking them questions like the following:

Jesus Christ healed many lepers.  How many have you healed?

Jesus Christ healed the blind.  How many have you healed?

Jesus Christ cast out devils. Out of how many people have you cast out devils?

The list goes on.  Then I ask them,  so who is the mere man here?  You or Jesus Christ?  Jesus Christ himself said we can do the same works he did and greater.  We can heal the blind, the lame, the dumb the deaf. We can pray and expect God's will to come to pass.

Fear is the worst.  The word of God, time and time again exhorts us to “Fear not”.

Let us continue to put our trust in God, by trusting His word to us. One day at a time.  One step at a time.  God knows we will fall short at times. God knows we are dust. God knows we are children.  We will do our best to do what we know to do, and learn more along the way, so that we can improve.

    Great post,

    Thanks.

He did not create man so as to have millions of baby hueys that are 50 years old, bott
le fed, unproved and still in diapers.
Jesus is not coming back for a 3 year old bride. He wants a bride without spot or wrinkle or any such thing. He wants a bride that has walked the same path as Him. A bride who has built relationship with their mutual Father.

    Hi B,
Why do you think man is God's most precious creation??

    Nick,

Does it matter what I think?  Or more to the point.  Should you regard my opinion as some kind of authority?

    No.

You would be wrong if you did.

    I think you know that.

Of course, it does matter what I think.  The best thoughts that I can think are those thoughts that the word of God teaches me to think.

I will not answer the creation part because many people use the word create unbiblically and I do not want to expound on it at this time.  Alright, briefly.  Biblically, to create is to bring into existence from nothing.   Only God can create.

I do not know based on scripture the answer to your specific question.

A similar question, the word clearly teaches on.  What is God's greatest work?

Let me answer by going to scripture.

What does God consider to be His greatest work?

See Psalm 138:2b,  “for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”   God's word, the scripture, is what God sets above all else that He accomplished including mankind.  Of everything that God's name represents, it is His words that He says is above all.  God's word is greater than we are.  We are to raise ourselves up to the level of truth, not try to bring truth down to our level.

Thanks for asking.  It is time that people understood and believed this.

    Martian,

That was a good post. It also kills the Trinity. I don't think there is a single Trinity “Proof” that hasn't been disproved. Has anyone noticed that WJ and KJ aren't actually trying to PROVE Trinity anymore…(Not that they ever could)!!!
