Hi Nick:Quote Mat 22:11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
Mat 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
Mat 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few [are] chosenThere are many in the church who do not have a wedding garment on which indicates that these had not repented and had not been born again. The gospel is preached to every creature. Many are called but few are chosen.

So you think those taken from the highways and byways are the same ones who are thrown out of the wedding feast?

Hi Nick:Let's post these scriptures in context and see what the scriptures state:
Quote Mat 22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Mat 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
Mat 22:10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
Mat 22:11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
Mat 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
Mat 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few [are] chosen.
How do you read these scriptures?

God filled the gaps at the table with the poor and downtrodden like Lazarus, and those who had entered without going through the gate of Jesus, even being found as his friend, but not being clothed with him in baptism, like thieves and robbers were removed.April 1, 2009 at 4:34 am#126205kerwinParticipantNick Hassan wrote:

You are close but you failed to consider that those who get baptized without obeying Jesus’ teachings will not receive the Holy Spirit and if they do not receive the Holy Spirit then they cannot live by it and so be clothed with it. Even those who are baptized in faith are warned to be clothed in the Spirit when God calls.
Luke 12:35-40(NIV) reads:
Quote “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
Have faith in God and believe Him when He says:
Ezekiel 18:23(NIV) reads:
Quote Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

Clothed with the Holy Spirit?
We are clothed with Christ in baptism and Christ's spirit is born into us.[Gal]Some claim to be reborn of the Spirit but never submit to water baptism.

This is the scripture you speak of.
Galatians 3:27(NIV):
Quote for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Being clothed in the Spirit and being clothed in Christ is one and the same for the Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of God that lives in Christ and through our belief in him it also lives in us. Still you must not only posses the Spirit of Christ but live by it to be clothed with it much like you must not only posses clothing but actually dress in it so as not to be naked. That is why it tells us later in the letter to the Galatians that:
Galatians 5:16(NIV):
Quote So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
And about those that choose not to live by the Spirit it clearly states:
Galatians 5:19-21(NIV) reads:
Quote The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Personally, I desire to enter the kingdom of heaven as well as to do what I can to lead others including my family and friends through that narrow gate. I cannot do that if I deceive myself of their and my own need to change our ways.

Men claim many things and some because they deceive themselves or seek to deceive others but if they say what is not consistent with God then it is obvious their words are lies. You yourself point to Galatians 3:27 which declares we are clothed in the Spirit of Christ when we are baptized. So I ask “should we believe what God states or what these men claim?”

You say
“Being clothed in the Spirit and being clothed in Christ is one and the same for the Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of God that lives in Christ and through our belief in him it also lives in us.”True but it is BAPTISM that clothes us in Christ as you have quoted.
Baptism without qualification in scripture is WATER BAPTISM.Christ also can dwell in us as Spirit.

I have no idea where you get the idea that there is no additional qualifications for being baptized because scripture makes it quite clear that you must obey Jesus' teachings. That of course means you must believe Jesus is the Anointed One of God and make him the Lord of your life which of course means you must believe in both Jesus and God and not a Jesus and God that have been made up by man.
You should consider these words:
2 Corinthians 11:3-4(NIV) reads:
Quote But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
April 1, 2009 at 9:33 pm#126277NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
How do you MAKE Jesus the Lord of your life? You must be born again.
He is the one who anoints us.
It is irrelevant that we know of him but it matters that he knows us.

Hi Nick:Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Salvation is by faith so that it might be by grace. The poor and downtrodden do not qualify soley on the basis of their condition.
God is not willing that any man should perish, but that all may come to repentance, but unless a man comes to repentance he will perish.

No, there will be no mercy for those who have not believed. What you are saying is speculation.April 1, 2009 at 10:05 pm#126283NickHassanParticipantHi 94,

You are incorrect since in order to obey his teaching to be baptized he must already be the Lord of your life which is why Jesus taught that:
Luke 17:20-21(NIV) reads:
Quote Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you.”
To make Jesus the Lord of your life you must first believe in the true God and then believe that Jesus is the promised Anointed One of God. Then you must decide in your heart to obey everything that Jesus teaches or in other words make Jesus the Lord of your life. Then as part of that obedience you will believe in God’s promise of true righteousness which is the Holy Spirit, repent of your sins, and then be baptized in water and so enter the new covenant. After that you must continue obeying Jesus’ teachings by living by the Spirit you were reborn in.
