This is a poll to decide whether there should be a forum dedicated to members and what they believe.
So a Topic could be called t8 and it is a chance for t8 to defend what he believes and to answer questions from others?
Is this a good idea or not.
Have your say.
May 24, 2010 at 3:50 am#191701SimplyForgivenParticipantWhen i mentioned this idea, I was purtaining it too…. more of a profile, to understand what the other person believes.
lets say im debating t8 or Nick. and we are debating about a subject, wouldtn it be easier to, look up their name and see with what they agree and disagree on so we can seee why they are defending or attacking a point.
Its up to you.
May 24, 2010 at 4:26 am#191705davidParticipantFine by me. Like 15 threads are essentially already devote to me. I don't know that others can handle this.
I wish there was an easy way to search and find threads that I created. Is there?
May 24, 2010 at 4:42 am#191709LightenupParticipantt8,
Interesting idea. I came across a forum once that had all the posts of a member all together. So, if I was interested in seeing what you believe, I would go to your profile page and click on “see all posts written by this member” or something like that. Of course there would be a way to find that post in the thread it was actually posted in.Just my two cents.

Actually I am not so sure that having a creed on the profile page is a good idea because it would lead to bias. If you wrote something challenging to a person and then they checked out your profile and you said you didn't believe in the Trinity, they might judge you harshly and disregard your thoughtful words.Whereas, if there was a forum dedicated to one topic per member, then you could use that page to define what God has shown you and others could give direct input about you and what they think or why they think things about you.
It would eliminate that type of conversation in the other threads leaving them to discuss what the topic was originally about. You could even place a link from a topic to post in the member topic if it was relevant.
May 24, 2010 at 9:39 am#191741ProclaimerParticipantYeah as far as finding all particular posts from a member, that would be great, but it is not a feature of this board. If I converted this to another board, then I would make sure that feature was present. This will most likely happen at some stage.
May 24, 2010 at 10:41 am#191744ProclaimerParticipantHere is a search engine that I gave up on.
https://heavennet.net/cgi-bin/forum/Search/search.cgiThe results ended up mapping the same pages many times because there are multiple URLs for each page.
Try it out at your own risk.
May 24, 2010 at 8:24 pm#191794bodhithartaParticipantIt would be a good idea except if it ended up like the believers section where people did get treated harshly for what they believed and got exiled from it

Thats what im starting to think myself…May 24, 2010 at 10:34 pm#191816ProclaimerParticipantWhat is the problem with that?
If a person doesn't believe in the foundation of the faith in scripture, then they are only going to argue against that foundation and little progress would be made elsewhere. I know this because that is how it use to be. Atheists turned every topic into the existence of God, and Moslems into Jesus not being the son of God and so on.
Sure, we all have opinions, but there are some foundational truths and to deny them is to be a skeptic.

t8 I do agree with that, and I too would like it if we all knew what the members believes are… The Believers section is not just to chat, you do have a section for that….I appreciate all that you do, thank you…..IreneMay 24, 2010 at 11:19 pm#191819ProclaimerParticipantAnother complimentary idea.
In the profile page for each member, there is space for the URL of your homepage.
This could be used to point to the yet to be implimented Members page, or to a homepage outside of Heaven Net which some are already doing.May 24, 2010 at 11:25 pm#191821SimplyForgivenParticipantQuote (t8 @ May 25 2010,10:19) Another complimentary idea.

Is it possible to start numerbering all the post in a thread. so that when we respond we can simply mention the number as reference.0-Thread
1-1st response,
2-2nd response.May 24, 2010 at 11:42 pm#191823ProclaimerParticipantUnfortunately no. That feature would require an extensive hack at which time it would be easier to migrate the board to another package that had such a feature.
May 25, 2010 at 12:52 am#191893AdminKeymasterI have set up a Member Profile forum.
There is one in the Believers category and another in the Skeptic category.
