The Apostle Paul did here:Quote 1Cr 13:4 Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 1Cr 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1Cr 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
1Cr 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
1Cr 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.

charity is this not a deed,?
is love a deed?November 15, 2009 at 2:58 pm#156862seekingtruthParticipantI believe the best description is selflessness. The higher value you place on another the more love you show. This is exemplified by the Father when He gave His Son so that we might be saved and with Jesus actually giving His life (no greater love).
So to answer your question, deeds reveal love, but love to me is also an attitude best summed up as “4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

terraricca,
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
Prophecy, knowledge, speaking in tongues, are tools to help us discover God
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
God Is LoveIf anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
Hate is a lack of love… God is love, the math is easy no love = no God.31″When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34″Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. 37″Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? 40″The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. 41″Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. 44″They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you? 45″He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. 46″Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
On what grounds did the sheep gain entrance to eternal life… Jesus was not even mentioned, but we know from scripture that if He had not died to pay for our sins no one would even be eligible. It also did not mention obeying the law, the law is a bunch of don'ts they made it on what they did. They made it on having a life characterized in love, not in doing for a reward but in doing because their joy was in reaching out to others showing compasion and helping to meet needs.
27For he “has put everything under his feet.”[a] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.As we become subject to Christ and He is subject to God, than God (Who is Love), is all in all. Having then “grown up” we put away the things of a child, but love is eternal.

well done good post ,you mention the scripture were it said ” God is Love” it is true,but why ?November 16, 2009 at 2:43 am#157028seekingtruthParticipantLove does no wrong, even with my limited knowledge I can see that if everyone made all their decisions based on love it would be heaven on earth. How much more would God with His knowledge, have already determined that sustained existence is only possible if love is in control.

the word Love by it self could mean a lot of thing because there are many loves,love for your children ,love for your wive ,love for your mother and father ,love for your brother,ect.these loves are mostly temporary and conditional,and parcial.
but the love of God or For God is different,the love of God is forever to the person he give it ,so it would be normal that the person recieving eternal love should equally love God eternaly,this mean that you would do wath God ask you forever ,it also means that you would never live for you but for the good of others,Just has God does he even sacrified is son for are sins,this is wath mean love your brother has you self,look for the interest of others before you look on yours,in the new world all righteious would act the same way,
Wath a beautifull site it will be.no more selfishness,greed,You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
Mt 20:26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
Mt 20:27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—
Mt 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for manythis is why Christ is the greatest example for all eternity,he is the greatest of all because he has serve all of creation visible and invisible,this is why there is no name above Christ the first born of God ,and trough him the Love of God was shown to us in person when he came the die for our sins,theyr was no bigger sacrifice a person can do than give his life for the good of is brother. in Christ case the creation of God,we also understand by this sacrifice Christ at shown us the way he loved is Father and God,and wath he want us to do is to love the same way his Father ,by doing all the things God ask us the do,because this means everlasting live,
in the kingdom of GodNovember 16, 2009 at 4:21 pm#157103GeneBalthropParticipantTo All………..over complicating things in religion is a big problem………All thing boil down to LOVE or HATE. If we look at the opposite of a word we can understand better it's meaning some times.
Hate…………..is what we reject, we get rid of it we don't hold on to it.
Love…………..Is what we keep, we save it or hold onto it.
Simple put Love is what we Keep and Hate is what we reject. God so LOVES the World (he wanted to hold on to it) that He gave is unique begotten son, that whosoever believes in HIM should (NOT) parish. Its Just that simple . LOVES IS WHAT YOU HOLD ON TO. GOD LOVE US ALL. BECAUSE HE IS NOT WILLING THAT ANY PARISH. GOD IS LOVE> IMO
peace and love to you all…………………….gene
