    Terraricca, yes I agree..

DavidH, “Neighbor” does not necessarily mean “church group”, imo.

Jesus told us in Matt 5:47,

If you only greet those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? If you only greet your friends, what more are you doing than others? Don’t even the Gentiles do the same? Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Jesus also told us in Luke 14:12,  “When you give a lunch or dinner, DON’T invite your friends, brothers, family or rich neighbors, lest they call you again and you receive your recompense. When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled the lame and the blind, and you will be happy, because they can’t repay you, and you will be recompensed at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Jesus explains who our “Neighbor” is in Luke 10:25-37 (The Parable of the Good Samaritan), and it is the suffering stranger.

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor? Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed mercy on him.” And Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me……………Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers you did it to me.’’
