Lets talk about something that we were commanded to do.
Quote
Mark 12
30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Matthew 5
43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
1 Corinthians 13
1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

But i think it can be some what confusing if every time we show love we have to define it some way as brotherly love , love of God, love for your country and etc. So to me Love is just a simple thing, heres what i think love is in its simplest terms. LOVE is what you care about and want to hang on to. If you love whats in the world you will hang on to it, if you love God, you will hang on to him, if you love your neighbor you will hang on to him . Life seems to consist of two things LOVE and HATE, and we need to LOVE the GOOD and grow to HATE THE EVIL. Jesus said He hated the (DEEDS) of the Necholatians, but notice He did not say He Hated them did He, no in fact He loved them, He just hated what they were doing. WE are even to love our enemies He said and do good good to those who deceitfully us us.

August 17, 2008 at 5:46 pm#101886942767ParticipantLove is wanting the very best that God has to offer for every individual, and expressing this love by treating them the way that you want to be treated in spite of how they may treat you, and forgiving those who offend you as often as it may take.
God Bless

AdamAugust 21, 2008 at 3:12 am#102381SamuelParticipantI believe that it is a direct commandment above all else that we should have LOVE in our hearts.
No matter how mad we get we have to remember that GOD loves everyone just the same…I believe that he wants us to have this same spirit within us.
LOVE comes with other things
Duty,
Respect,
Selfless Service,
Meekness,
Humbleness,
and many others.We need to posses this ability to Love as we were commanded to. I think above all else we should have love.
If you love someone how can you hate them?
If you love others how can you have pride in yourself?Love is the key to it all.
August 22, 2008 at 2:31 am#102457GeneBalthropParticipantSamuel………God said I will take out of you the Heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh (SOFT HEART), A soft heart is a sorrowful heart, and it says for you are sorrowed unto righteousness and again, Godly sorrow (WORKS) repentance not to be repented of. Jesus was a man of many sorrows, If God is truly with a person they will always try to give Hope and be kind with everyone rather they are religious or not. In fact i have seen people in bars show more kindness then so religious people I know. I am not saying we should all go out to bars. My point is that some “religious” people are to judgmental at times. Jesus said if you forgive others there trespasses God would forgive you yours. He did not say God (might), He said GOD WOULD> Love covers a multitude of sins. GOD is LOVE and WE with His spirit should be also.
Jesus' did not have problems with the ordinary people, His conflict was with the “religious” community of His day, they were the ones constantly accusing others and Jesus Also. Holding themselves up as the GODLY and everyone else as ungodly. They though their knowledge of scripture made them righteous when in fact it was what was corrupting them. If we forgive all all will be forgiven us but is we don't forgive all neither will all be forgiven us.For as a man judges it shall also be rendered to him or Her. Forgive and it shall be forgiven you. There is no maybe it will be forgiven , it is it (WILL) be forgive you.Love and peace to you all ………gene

Mother Theresa said:If you love people you have no time to judge them.
I love that quote!

May Goodness and mercy follow us all.
GOD Bless You In Jesus Name!
I have an attitude problem myself. I get so upset over the simplest things…I've been that way all my life really. Not cause I think I'm better than anyone…In fact its quite the opposite I always feel that I'm not doing good enough and it upsets me.
I'm more mad at myself really…I'm so hard on myself.
And, I'm tired of being lied to by other people that are Religious.
August 26, 2008 at 2:53 am#102917GeneBalthropParticipantSamuel…..remember that saying, e mono, e mono, i probably spelled it wrong but it means one on one, that the way it is With The Father and Us. Most people don't even know what their doing or saying. I think we all fall into that category at times and that includes me also. We all only see in part, but some day we will all see clearly. And as far a attitude problem we all have them at times.
Love and peace to you and yours Samuel………….gene

Unity with God in Jesus demands we accept his teachings ahead of all others.
The teachings of scientists and worldly men do not rate alongside his.
We cannot call him lord and then prefer the words of carnal men.
He never taught universalism so we should abhor it. - AuthorPosts
