Quote (Nick Hassan @ April 08 2012,23:15) Hi MB,
You say you know what it means but on what basis?
Nick,Is God a Spirit…………OR…………a human being?
Are angels spirits………….OR………..human beings?
Are you a spirit……………OR……….a human being?
If Jesus BECAME a spirit, as scripture says he did, then he is no longer a human being.

The man Jesus Christ is in heaven now.
Jesus CHRIST did come from heaven.
But the Nazarene is from BethlehemApril 10, 2012 at 12:10 am#291240mikeboll64BlockedIs he a HUMAN BEING in heaven? Or a SPIRIT? Scripture bears out that it must be one or the other.
April 10, 2012 at 12:32 am#291245tobyParticipantHi Mike.
The thread comment has raised an interesting point:
Is Jesus a Man in Heaven?
Well, it is said that he is a Spirit and therefore not a Man.
But he is referred to as 'A Man'.
How can this be?
Well, Perhaps he is a SPIRIT in Spirit Realm – but – when he comes into the physical realm he becomes a Man?
Now what is the difference between a Man and a Spirit?
Yes…a BODY…!!!
Jesus materialises his glorious imperishable body with his Spirit in it and becomes a Man.
No, Mikeboll, the body is not 'destroyed' but dematerialised when he enters Heaven so he becomes a Spirit again. This is the same way he is able to enter a locked room. The Spiritual Body can be materialised anywhere it's owner desires through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Consider that the body of someone who is cremated will be restored (not a NEW BODY) in a Glorious imperishable incorruptible state – from what? The ashes were scattered to the four winds so how is the body restored by the SPIRIT?

He is never referred to as being a human being after he ascended. Read the OP of the thread.April 10, 2012 at 1:24 am#291251kerwinParticipantQuote (mikeboll64 @ April 10 2012,05:13) Kerwin, You are correct that 15:47 does use “anthropos”……… I misspoke.
The text says the first man was from the earth, earthy; the second man was from heaven.
You are also correct that it can't be used to support your theory that Jesus is still a human being in heaven………….. BUT………. it can be used to support that the second man came down FROM heaven – just like he said he did in John 6:38, 41, and 51.
Mike,1 Corinthians 2
King James Version (KJV)11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
In this translation the spirit of a man is called a man though the Ancient Greek is often translated to who instead. Why is the spirit of a man called a “who” and the Spirit of God “one”?

Nick,It is not based on valid logical reason as the conclusion does not follow from the premises. It is also unsound reasoning as the premise “as scripture says” is not true.

Pierre,It is as you say unless it is via artificial insemination because a child is implanted in the woman's womb. The child is conceived outside of the womb.

No it's not. It's saying that the only “one” who knows the inner thoughts of any particular man is the spirit of that man himself. It is saying that no man truly knows any OTHER man – only that man's spirit knows who he truly is.Nor does any verse in John 6 say “the spirit of Jesus” came down from heaven. What it teaches is that Jesus from Nazareth, whose father was a carpenter, and whose brothers and sisters they knew, was telling them that HE came down from heaven.
You and Nick feel free to ADD the words “spirit inside of me” if you think you know better than our Lord himself. As for me, I'll stick with exactly what Jesus said.

1 Corinthians 15:45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. Is that scriptural enough for you guys?

It is among SOME OF US, anyway. But I doubt the spirit of Christ is leading anyone to spout doctrines that contradict clear scriptures.Perhaps those people have a different kind of spirit among them?
