Kerwin, There are only three ordinances for the church.
1. True Christian Baptism in water.
2. Communion.
3. Foot Washing. Are none of these important?
Should we not do them?
Obedience is better then Sacrifice.

Marlin,There is one ordinance for believers and that is to love themselves and others as God does.
Immersion in water under the authority of Jesus which is the same authority as God and his Spirit is the means by which believers receive the spirit of love.
Communion is practiced in remembrance of Jesus the King. Jesus used footwashing to teach that those in authority are to be servants.
All three are useful in their own way to further God's ordinance to love. An individual given authority to baptize by King Jesus immerses in that authority whatever formula he chooses to use as he is God's servant.
Love is better than rituals.

February 19, 2012 at 5:48 am#279293Marlin1ParticipantKerwin,
I agree with most of what you said.
I would say we have no law but LOVE.
I would also say we have three divine orders.
Quote All three are useful in their own way to further God's ordinance to love. An individual given authority to baptize by King Jesus immerses in that authority whatever formula he chooses to use as he is God's servant. I can not agree with this. For this is saying that man can do what he likes and not follow the Word. Man has been trying to do that from almost the beginning and it is wrong. There is only one proper way to baptize. And that is the only way it was ever done in the early church.
It was given to us by the man that Jesus gave the keys to. He told Peter whatever he bound on earth would be bound in heaven. How long, to the last one that Lord shall call comes in.
And that is the only way that will work today. All mans ways are no baptism at all and will not be accepted.Even those that had received the Holy Ghost as Peter was still speaking, had to be baptized correctly. Paul made some be rebaptized.
It is the same this day, if a person is truly following Christ, they will look to the first church, the most powerful church on earth. They will follow that church and not the mother Catholic Church or any other church lies and dogma's.
Baptism doesn't save anyone. It is only an out word sign. It only proves weather a person has received revelation from God and weather they are willing to believe and obeyed the Word of God.
For a person to say that they have the love of Christ in them and to willfully disobey the Word is a lie.

Marlin,You are addressing many issues in your post. Some of those issues I need to look into more before going into them in more detail.
As for what I stated about formulas look at what I just posted to Nick.
I did not claim that anyone is saved by being immersed in water. What I did claim is those that believe miraculously receive the Spirit of God as a teacher. To be saved you have to persevere in walking according to the teachings of the Spirit.
Being immersed in water is like the blind man who was healed because he obeyed Jesus and washed in the Pool of Siloam. It is not the pool that healed him but his faith that gave birth to obedience.
John the Baptist did not baptize with the Spirit because it had not come yet.

Philippians 1
New International Version (NIV)15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,
