Hi KW,
The source of the voice is not written.
So perhaps you doubt it was from God?
According to Matthew only Jesus saw the Spirit.
So perhaps you would disbelieve this too?
Do all the ts have to be crossed for you to accept truth?
December 16, 2015 at 8:28 am#806157NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
There is no suggestion in scripture that this was a vision or a sign but it seems it really happened.
Many make claims of a prior anointing with no scriptural evidence at all.
The Holy Spirit came onto Jesus at the Jordan
December 16, 2015 at 12:03 pm#806159kerwinParticipantNick,
Are you beginning a new conversation?
The question I addressed is “when Scripture was made Christ” and the answer I found is that is does not explicitly state any time.
The angels called him Christ on the day of his birth for it is written:
Luke 2:11Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
It is also written:
Hebrews 1:6
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.It could be argued he was the Christ since birth but all it may mean is he was born to be the Heir.
John tells us it was a sign that Jesus is the Christ in John 1:33 but I believe there was more to it as it m belief Jesus was anointed to preach the gospel and given the power to do miracles at that time. There is no evidence he was also anointed to be king of all things in heaven and on earth at the same time.
December 16, 2015 at 12:39 pm#806165NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Yes the Christmas myth has been popular forever it seems.
“When he began his ministry Jesus himself was about 30 years old”
This is just after the Jordan
December 16, 2015 at 12:45 pm#806166NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Yes Jn 1.33 tells us that John also was a witness to the event you deny.
December 16, 2015 at 7:30 pm#806176kerwinParticipantNick,
If there is any mention of when Jesus was anointed then it is Psalms 23:5.
December 16, 2015 at 7:31 pm#806177kerwinParticipantNick,
What Christmas myth?
December 16, 2015 at 7:38 pm#806178NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
The myth that an anointed man was born and that God wants us to celebrate, as the world does, the birthday of an infant King.
December 17, 2015 at 4:46 am#806179GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin……JESUS was certainly destined from berth to be the anointed of God, or the MESSIAH, OR CHRISTOS, prophesied to come into existence, by Moses and the other prophets, but he was not anointed untill it actually happened, at the Jordan as we believes. It was after that he was sent out into the world to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God. Why is this a problem with you or Nick anyway?
Look if a someone celebrates the berth of Jesus on this earth and rejoices in it, and sees him as their savior, why should anyone be offended by that ? Remember what Jesus told his deciples, “he that is not against us is on our part” Mark 9:40.
peace and love to you and yours. ……….gene
December 17, 2015 at 8:07 am#806183kerwinParticipantGene,
Jesus was anointed to preach the gospel and do miracles at the Jordon but that is not the same as being anointed Heir. It may be he was the Christ from before the world began because God foreknew him and chose him to be the Christ. He did not obtain full powers of authority until after ,in his great mercy, he chose to sacrifice himself so the new covenant would be established.
Since Scripture is not clear about it I do not see where it is important.
December 17, 2015 at 8:10 am#806184kerwinParticipantNick,
Scripture tells us that Jesus was born the Christ.
I simply believe it is a way of calling someone by the title they are fated to have.
December 17, 2015 at 8:25 am#806185NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Yes.
Prophetic
December 17, 2015 at 8:48 am#806186NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Of course he did not sacrifice himself.
Suicide was not in the plan of God.
What you see as unclear may be due to your blindness.
The appointing of the heir is mentioned in Ps 2 and relates to the Sonship.
December 17, 2015 at 9:04 am#806187NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Power without the authority to use it is illicit power.
He was made Lord and Christ.
December 17, 2015 at 9:18 am#806188kerwinParticipantNick,
Paul was anointed to preach the gospel and given power for he did great miracles as well.
It was after his resurrection that Jesus was appointed Lord of all things in heaven and on earth.
That does not tell me when he was anointed unless his crucifixion was an anointment.
The soldiers did declare him king of the Jews as did Pilate.
December 17, 2015 at 9:24 am#806190NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Do you rely on the words and approval of men to find truth?
Paul could do nothing except by the power and authority given him.
But you do not think that the anointed Jesus needed that? Acts 10. 38f
December 17, 2015 at 9:25 am#806191kerwinParticipantNick,
Sacrificing oneself for a noble cause is not considered the sin of suicide.
Samson is know for sacrificing himself to kill God’ enemies and God approved of his actions.
John 3:15-16Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Note: This is where Koine Greek sentence structure can confuse English language speakers as the “he” that laid down is life is implied in the unwritten context. This is probably a Trinitarian “proof” verse.
December 17, 2015 at 9:42 am#806192NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
To lay down your life is not to sacrifice yourself.
Other men were involved in his death.
Some doubted his given authority in scripture too and he did not help them
Lk 20
Who is it who gave You this authority?” … 8And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. … 9He went on to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. … I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.
December 17, 2015 at 9:50 am#806193kerwinParticipantNick,
To lay down your life is not to sacrifice yourself.
Are you trying to change the meaning of words?
Hebrews 10:12Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
12 but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
December 17, 2015 at 9:54 am#806194kerwinParticipantNick,
Jesus said he could do not accept for the Father.
His preaching and miracles did not make him the Christ.
He is the Christ because God would and did appoint him Lord of all things in heaven and on earth.
