Nick,
Should our view be like that of the rich young man who pointed to his works as proof of righteousness?
Jesus pointed to his lack of works as unrighteousness and that led to his students asking “who then could be saved”.
March 6, 2015 at 9:04 am#790076NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
The same thing??
So have you found the fruit of the Spirit in Jesus of Nazareth before the anointing with the Spirit?
March 6, 2015 at 9:07 am#790078NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So to put on the robe of righteousness to you is to boast of your sinlessness?
March 6, 2015 at 10:03 am#790081kerwinParticipantNick,

Did Jesus boast of his?
We are called to do as he did and does.
March 6, 2015 at 10:30 am#790084NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
If we are led by the Spirit it is into paths of righteousness though we might never see it ourselves.
March 6, 2015 at 10:31 am#790085NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Jesus is our righteousness.
The Spirit teaches about these matters
Jn 16 8-11
March 6, 2015 at 10:35 am#790086NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
At best we are as the prodigal son whose filth is covered by the robe of the king.
Or as Joshua in Zech 3
There is no room for boasting about our works.
March 6, 2015 at 11:52 am#790091NickHassanParticipantHi,
It is a level playing field.
All have sinned and all must also repent.
All are welcome to go through the open door of Jesus Christ.
The religious traditions of men are worse than useless and some an affront to God[Rev 17-18]
March 6, 2015 at 11:54 am#790092NickHassanParticipantHi,
Seek ye FIRST the kingdom
March 6, 2015 at 2:05 pm#790096GeneBalthropParticipantTo all…..HERE IS WHAT KING DAVID SAID,
Psa 32:2…..Blessed is he whose trangression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Psa 32:2…..Blesed is the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, in whose spirit is no guile.
Rom 4:6……Even as David also described the blessedness of the man, unto whom God “imputes” righteousness, “WITHOUT” works, 7, Saying Blessed are they whose iniquites are forgiven, and whose sins are “COVERED”, 8, Blessed is the man to whom the LORD will not impute sin.
PRAISE God the Father through Jesus the christ our lord, and better our brother. We will stand because of the sacrifice of JESUS, ON NO OTHER GROUNDS ARE WE DELIEVERED.
YOU HAVE PRESENTED IT RIGHT NICK. IMO
peace and love to you and yours……………….gene
March 6, 2015 at 2:22 pm#790098kerwinParticipantGene,
The question is not what is written; rather it is do you comprehend and believe what it says. It does not seem you do or you would know David was not contradicting the fact that “it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.”, Romans 2:13
March 6, 2015 at 2:29 pm#790099kerwinParticipantNick,

I know what Scripture states and it states that if we believe that God will make us sinless then he will do so. It is not us that does it but God. All we need is faith and Jesus as God will only do it through him.
Scripture does not answer the question of what happens if we die before we are fully mature in Christ. It seems reasonable to me that as long as you have you are credited with accomplishing the goal.
So, I agree with the words you wrote here.
March 6, 2015 at 2:33 pm#790100kerwinParticipantNick,
As for the rest, I agree.
March 6, 2015 at 4:51 pm#790107NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Sinless or forgiven?
Righteousness is in the eyes of God.
March 6, 2015 at 9:20 pm#790134kerwinParticipantNick,
The same thing.
Credited with righteousness means you are on the path and so given credit for completing it.
March 6, 2015 at 9:37 pm#790135NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
WE are rewarded for the work Jesus did??
No we inherit because of what he did and are carried along in the work of the Spirit.
Poor vessels – that God is at work in to will and to do.
Flesh contributes nothing
March 7, 2015 at 3:47 am#790154GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin,….you simply seem to not even understand how we are saved, is it by woks of law or by the faith of Jesus Christ, that brings us the grace (unmerited) pardon from GOD?
SCRIPTURE SAYS, “for you are ‘SAVED” by “GRACE” and that “NOT” of “YOURSELF” it is a “GIFT” from GOD. AND again, “by “OBEDIENCE” TO THE “LAW” shall “NO FLESH” BE “JUSTIFIED” before God”. ANYONE WHO THINKS HE IS JUSTIFIED TO LIFE BY PERSONAL OBEDIENCE OF LAW, THROUGH THE WORKS OF HIS FLESH HASN’T A CLUE OF HOW HE IS SAVED. We are being “CREATED” BY God unto good works, it has nothing to do with our works of rightiouness which GOD CONSIDERS AS FILTHY RAGES, TO HIM. IT’S ALL ABOUT A “CREATIVE” process given us by the sacrifice of Jesus the Christ.
You seem to not be able to put “ALL” the scriptures together to draw proper conclusions from them. Do you just throw out from your bible scriptures that disagree with your religious dogmas?
peace and love to you and yours. …………..gene

I did not say that we are credited with his deeds. We are given the Spirit because we believe he is the Messiah and has the authority to give it just as he promised we would be given it. That we believe that Jesus will teach us and is teaching those that follow the truth to walk by it; even as he walks by it to this day.
March 7, 2015 at 8:57 am#790174NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Obedience signifies true belief.
Why do you call me Lord Lord and not do as I say?
March 7, 2015 at 9:17 am#790175kerwinParticipantGene,
Kerwin,….you simply seem to not even understand how we are saved, is it by woks of law or by the faith of Jesus Christ, that brings us the grace (unmerited) pardon from GOD?
Actually I do not misunderstand. Have you not read that the fruits of the Spirit are the works of the Law of Love? God has not changed and he still calls us to be righteous as he is righteous. The only change is that he gave us the Spirit so that we can bear its fruits. Under the Law of Moses they did not have the Spirit in order to bear its fruits. All they had was the flesh and works of the flesh are ungodly. At their best they still fell short of the glory of God.
That is why Paul was quick to rebuke those who rejected the teachings of the Spirit and instead chose to live according to the Law of Moses. They were putting new wine in the old wineskin and so wasting both.
The grace of God is that he gave us Jesus Christ and through him he gave us his Spirit to teach us to be like him in true righteousness and holiness.
Faith is that it is by faith we receive the Spirit of God and live by the Spirit of God. That is why James teaches us faith without works is dead. He was speaking to those that though sincere in their own believes in that claimed that Jesus was Lord and that said they believed in their hearts he was raised from the dead did not bear the fruits of the Spirit. It was these same people that Jude later speaks such harsh words about.
You know these things as I am sure you know that when Jesus said “you will know them by their fruit” that he meant that you will know them by their works.
