Can one of the moderators please delete all the smut on this website please and ban of the guy who is posting it all? Some of it has been sitting there for days. This is totally unacceptable.

We are not here all the time but I delete on average about 20 a week and ban them from reposting.April 19, 2009 at 8:01 am#128024Is 1:18ParticipantMaybe you should appoint another moderator, a regular member from the Northern hemisphere would make sense, so they can get rid of the spam during hours you guys are asleep and fill in when you're both away.

Excellent suggestion. Somethig that remains to be viewed for days bespeaks inadequate policing, it seems to me.April 19, 2009 at 7:49 pm#128053KangarooJackParticipantQuote (SEEKING @ April 20 2009,00:46) Quote (Is 1:18 @ April 19 2009,01:01) Maybe you should appoint another moderator, a regular member from the Northern hemisphere would make sense, so they can get rid of the spam during hours you guys are asleep and fill in when you're both away.

Why can't you guys just ignore the porn?thinker
April 19, 2009 at 8:42 pm#128056kerwinParticipantJesus teaches that it would be better for the one that causes others to sin to have a mill stone tied to them and be thrown into the ocean. If you do not resist an evil man plots when you can then you are aiding them. It is the sin of omission. The porn images need to be deleted and obstacles put in front of any more being posted. I suggested elsewhere not giving new users the ability to post pictures until they have established themselves much like is done with the edit command. I called it spam though.

I didn't know the porn was here until you guys advertised it.thinker
April 19, 2009 at 9:27 pm#128066KangarooJackParticipantTo All,
It has been brought to my attention that teenage children visit this site and may discover that porn is here. I had not thought about this. My statements were directed toward men.I did not know that porn was here. So when it was first pointed out that it was here I was tempted and said to myself “Where?”
I have been on other forums where someone can complain about these things to a moderator privately with no one else having assess to that communication. We do not want children to view porn here. So we would not want to advertise it so that a child may be informed and go looking for it.
It would be good if this site was designed to handle complaints in a private forum inwhich only the specific plaintiff and the moderators can view. A moderator can then delete the porn before the whole community knows about it.

Ever heard of flee from temptation? It seems scripture acknowledges that the flesh is weak and temptation should be avoided. Also at one time I encourage my youngest to visit this site, but not since these began popping up. I know that the moderators cannot be here all the time but it would be nice if there had to be so many posts or an authorization before pictures or links could be posted. For my part I appreciate all the work that they do to provide us with this site.

April 20, 2009 at 3:16 am#128103AdminKeymasterThe latest update to the spam filters have stopped them in their tracks for now.
Hopefully it is not too over the top though. I did that once and legit users couldn't register either.
Will have to update more regularly to keep on top of it.Also the idea of a northern hemisphere moderator is a good one.
Will approach some of you and see if you are interested. If the spam filters were turned off, there would be hundreds of such posts everyday. So they work 99.something percent of the time.
There are programs out that that a spammer can input information once, and hit a button and it is sent to just about every forum on the Web. The spammers definitely have the upper hand and without moderation, a forum would not be possible these days.
Even Wikipedia is open to the same abuse. But moderation is effective due to the shear amount of editors moderating.
April 20, 2009 at 3:44 am#128106AdminKeymasterI could also look at implementing a program that asks a question to determine if you are a bot or a human. But the problem with that it is again, a temporary solution as the bots in time will work around this eventually and then you are back to square one. It is a cat and mouse game that never ends.
Failing all that, I could turn off registrations altogether and replace with instructions for registering by email.
Not the best, but it would work.April 20, 2009 at 3:52 am#128107lineonParticipantQuote (heaven @ April 20 2009,05:44) Failing all that, I could turn off registrations altogether and replace with instructions for registering by email.
