    Hi Kenrch,
    In what way does being born of water through baptism purify the flesh unto eternity? I have never said or implied that. No it is obedience to the righteous demand of God and a plea to God for the inner cleansing through the blood of the Lamb. The flesh is condemned and we need new imperishable bodies.

    Don't you say that you are born 'again' of water? If you were born 'again' of water then your flesh would be changed today just as your spirit is changed.

    Wow, Nick, you had a lot to say back in 2004!! Not these one, two or three liner's but actually full bodied posts! It was a pleasure to read them. Thanks for bumping the thread.

    I also believe you can lose your salvation, however I've heard some really good arguments for the opposite (especially the BU folks).

    Hi All

    Once saved always saved applies only for those saints that come up in the first resurrection.

    Rev. 20:6 “Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power…”

    What most people misunderstand is, being saved is no guarantee you will be resurrected as a spirit being, it means, you will receive the gift of eternal life.

    To all ..>Were not there till were there, thats obvious, But it is also obvious that it say He who began a work in you will see it to completion. and again if God be fore you then who can be against you. I guess it all depends on you the Faith you have in what God said He will do.

    peace to all……….gene

    Hi Gene,
    Many in this forum are afraid of loosing their salvation because they are not believing the faithfulness of God but they are depending on their so called “free wills” that's why they are very much afraid of it.
    Thanks

    Hi GM,
    If God could not remove the Spirit why does David pray?

    Ps51
    11Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

    We can grieve and quench the Spirit

    Is63
    10But they rebelled
    And grieved His Holy Spirit;
    Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy,
    He fought against them.

    The 5 bridesmaids given OIL[Spirit] who did not stay away had no benefits.
    The one given a talent who did not work to increase the investment lost all he had.

    The BU's would argue that when we are given the Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing that we are his.

    If it's guaranteed, doesn't that make it a for sure thing?

    Hi not3,
    The fruit proves the planting.
    Yes God does everything He can to help us.
    But we have a part to play and cooperation with Him is essential.
    We need to feed on scripture and we need grace and unless we seek it we shrivel.

    Amen to this Nick

    Here is an example from the scriptures of someone who exercised his “free will”:

    Quote
    2Ti 4:10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia

    Hi not3,
    This is what they are referring to
    Eph1
    13In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation–having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

    14who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.

    If the saints themselves had no part to play Paul would not have to continue exhorting them and encouraging them to stay on the path and to keep walking,.

    We were warned.

    1 Corinthians 10
    1Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

    2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

    3And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

    4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

    5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

    6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

    7Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

    8Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

    9Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

    10Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

    11Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

    12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

    Hi not3,
    Again
    1Jn3
    We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

    Such a verse can only have meaning if we know the work of the Spirit in and through us.

    Hi Nick,
    Holy Spirit will abide in us forever see Jn 14:16

    16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever”

    You are misunderstanding the scriptures and wants to prove your way of belief.

    Hi GM,
    Indeed God offers us every advantage.
    He has every help available so we will follow that way of faith and hope.

    Nick……..Here is something to think about, in the old testament no one Had God's spirit (IN) them it was (ON) them but not in them. The New testament is different the Spirit become permanent and is (IN) those who have it, And will never leave them, Jesus Said he would send the Comforter to be in us and (NEVER) leave us. There is a difference between the old testament and the new.

    Hi GB,
    Philippians 2:12
    So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

    Acts 14:22
    strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, ” Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”
