“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Hi Stuart,When God is inside a person “believers” can his represented image. (John 3:3)
Col:3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed
in knowledge after the image of him that created him:John 14:8-9 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me,
Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?God bless

From what you said you have to see something to believe it, so prior to the ability to sufficiently cool and liquefy oxygen you couldn't see it. Thus to follow your reasoning, the unseen (like God) does not exist.

Oh, the fossil record. A whole lot of bones that when clipped together show different and similar species from long ago. Then the imagination connects the dots and says, hey that ape came from that one coz they look really similar. My point stands. They didn't see it. You didn't see it. And you don't see God.
Yet God doesn't exist because you can't see him, but species changing into others does exist, even though you can't see that. I call that bias myself.
Maybe you could level the same argument toward me, but I was once on your side of the fence, and I got my proof that I was wrong. And then when I looked at the evidence for what I use to believe in, it was feeble anyway. It was about believing in the imaginations of men, fuelled by bias. It was the blind leading the blind.
So what is the weather like on the atheist side of the fence, I know over here it is sunny and looking forward to eternity. I don't think moving back to ape-hood with the reward of becoming compost appeals to me any more.
Anyway, different strokes for different folks. Or different takes for different apes.

There was no concept of “oxygen” until it was discovered, ie until there was evidence for it.There are many god concepts but no unambiguous evidence for any of them.

Now, do you have an answer to the question? All the new species that have regularly appeared in the fossil record over time. Where did they come from?

Yes. An example might be the few evangelical creationists who bite their tongues and complete a PhD in a biological science just so they can use the credibility of a PhD to support their lies about natural history. For most biologists a PhD is a work of love. For these creationists there is no love for the subject, they are just out to deceive. Sad really. I imagine a few of them are turned off creationism by the astonishment and wonder of these sciences, but there will be some dullard religious liars with just enough brains to jump through the hoops who make it back to the creation museum with a real qualification. Of course everything they learned, including their own research for the doctorate are things they will have to lie about to others. Is laymen an American verb? Like burglarize, which is a respectable noun that has been corrupted?
