Quote (kenrch @ Aug. 31 2007,15:49)
Mandy dear you are not offending me I'm just asking questions because I don't understand why someone would wnat to keep a pagan day……Christian. A day that the World, athiest, and all drunks keep. I'll bet Stu keeps Christmas. BTW I “think” heathens who were worshipping a sun god on his birthday (Dec. 25th) was made christian by Constantine in order to unite his kingdom.Well, the pagens may have made the Day (Christmas), I don't know for sure, but I am celebrating the Day with joy and gladness. I am not seeing the pagen intentions, nor is my heart leaning in any way towards those intentions; I just see Christ. I believe that is what the passage in Col. is saying; don't let anyone give you a hard time about keeping certain festivals and Sabbaths – none of the “ceremony” means anything! It's all about Christ.
Hey, by the way, I like Stu. I sort of think he used to be a sold out Christian and got burned somewhere along the line; or perhaps gave way to fear and the enemy got in and stole the seed that was planted in him? I don't know, but at any rate, he is here…….and I believe the love of God can flow through us to him.
See, as far as the date goes – I don't care when it (Christmas) is. It doesn't matter to me, it's part of the ceremony that doesn't mean anything at all. The only thing that matters is Christ, and our hearts towards the greatest gift and sacrifice every given! That's just my take on this bro.
Hi!, It's me ,
So you are saying “spiritually” you keep His birthday not the day itself. You are following the Spirit by keeping Dec 25.
I don't understand why their is a split of the same Spirit? Something doesn't click.
I don't know Stu I only know that he attacks God. Their are some I believe born TARES. Is Stu one? I don't know I can only go by his fruit and his fruit seems to be rotten. “You will KNOW them by their fruit”.
You say that Col. 2:16 is saying not to judge those who want to keep a Festival. Wow! Then you will be keeping God's holy days or does that just apply to Dec.25th?
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.Handwriting against us.
Principalities and powers, triumphing over them
Therefore let no man judge in holy days… but not pagan days?Sorry Sis I just can't see it your way. If you can make “anyday” His birthday then I suppose you could make “anyday” His Sabbath day. If you can break the forth commandment then why not the other nine also?
So we disagree OR agree to disagree, all that is nice but the fact is someone is wrong. I'm not judging you Mandy I'm disagreeing with your belief as you have NO scripture for the worldly pagan holiday. No scripture says NOT to keep Dec 25th. Well I don't know about that but the facts says Jesus was not born on Dec. 25th and the facts say that pagans celebrated a false god on that day. Then we have the world that celebrate it and if it were a holy day would certainly be blaspheming God just by the way they keep it. The fact is their are more suicides on Dec 25th then at anytime of the year, more automobile crashes resulting in deaths because of the partying on “Christ's Birthday”. I'm sure He's pleased .
See here's the thing your spirit see's nothing wrong with all this while my spirit dose.
2Co 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
While people say they are honoring Christ on this day. While they stand before a tree decked out and open their presents that are under the tree, and take their last drink for the road, hoping not to get stopped by a Cop who has probably had a few also. I can't see how that is honoring Christ!
Well some do honor Christ! But the fact is most do not. It's just an excuse to party in the name of Jesus.
But you are among the few that dose. But scripture says not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. But they believe. Do they? “You will know them by their fruit”. A Christian walk is full of choices and the fact that Satan appears as an angel of light doesn't help, 2Cor.11:14.
I'm sorry that I strongly disagree with your belief that you are free to keep a worldly day and that God will honor that.
In His Peace,
Ken

I don't start “slapping the truth” until those reject “not what I say but scripture says. Yes that I get defensive. Like you Mandy you were judging me for riding my motorcycle on the Sabbath even though you knew nothing about it! But now what are you teaching? “94 we keep the Sabbath spiritually”.
Again the Post in question WAS IT HARSH AND WAS I BEING PUFFED UP?
Just to set something straight about your bike – I wasn't judging you, I was trying desperately to understand the message you were teaching. I was using your bike ride as an example. But when your heart is hurt or angry, you tend to see what you will. Again, as I posted in the “Apology” thread, there is not much you will listen to when you feel you have been so wronged.Wanting to prove whether you were puffed up or not (going even to the extent of starting a new thread about it) just tells me that you need to let this go. You are being divisive to your own detriment. At this point it doesn't matter what I think on the issue. I think that currently you are not acting in love towards your brother's and sister's in Christ.
After this post I will be dropping this whole matter for the sake of our relationship with one another, and for the sake of those who are listening in. God help us all to kill our pride and have Christ's love for each other.

I really don't think this is funny! If I can't teach without comming across as Harsh and puffed up then I should “stop” teaching. And if I should stop teaching then I should leave heaven net.The Sabbath seems to be on it's way to being established here so may be it time!

If you are *only* hear to teach, then maybe taking a break would be a good idea. Even teacher's need times of refreshing. Why is being right preceived as pride? And as you may have guessed I “do not” see any way shape or form a harhness or my bring puffed up in my post! And would someone please show me what I said to be conceived as being harsh keeping it in context.
And what if I had said that you should learn to read things in context that way you may learn something. I suppose that would be alright

Ill give you my take on it and tell me what you think. The word used in the bible i think means to mirror through reflecting, images are copies or exact replicates either through statues, woodcarvings or metal forgings. There are both physical and spritual images. While god tells us not to make any physical copies of Him, He seems to want us to take on His spritual image, saying be you Holy because I am Holy, and be you perfect because I am Perfect. He even forgrs us by his very own Spirit to conform us to His very own likeness. In order for this to happen i believe God must come into us ans dwell in us. It say's Christ is the expressed Image of God, but it did not say he is God. It is for this very purpose we were created, saying in the image of God created them male and female. While an image takes on the form or copy of somthing it is never the exact original. Even so with Jesus Christ and us also, we were made to glorify God by reflecting or imaging Him. All of Gods creation does this in one form or another, but man has a special relationship with God because he created us to reflect Him in a unique and special way in our relationship with Him. It is in this relationship we become his adopted childern, and because of this adoption which took place at our acceptance of our forgiviness of sins through the blood of Christ, God the Father comes into us causing us to Spritually image Him. Thats why it say's apart from me there is no God, But with God, God is certainly present. And this same thing applies to Jesus Christ our Lord, he was certainly IMAGING or MERRORING or REFELECTING GOD to us all. Just my thoughts on the word IMAGE whats yours…..Gene

I agree an image is a representation of something.
It can be an identical facsimilie
or a close copy.I believe Jesus is an example of the former (Heb 1:3)
and we of the latter. (Gen 1:26)
God will not allow us to make any image to Himself
We are made in His image – of which Jesus Christ is the prototype. How could an image of the Creator make an image of the creator,
it would be like the clay trying to make a statue of the potter…the best we can hope for is to be an image of the Creator through the Grace given in the freely shed blood of the lamb and by being conformed by the Spirit of God through the renewing of our minds daily to the truth that is in Christ Jesus.
September 23, 2007 at 4:27 pm#66675GeneBalthropParticipantMalcolm Ferris…….> your right and thats why i think the word IMAGE is so important to understand, because it shows what God the Father is doing with us. He is forgeing us by His Spirit to image Him Just like He did Jesus. Remember where it says “until we come to the full measure of Christ” and we all know it says Jesus was the exact expression of the Father. And all this was done by the Father being in Him via His spirit and the same thing Happens with us. When we recieve His Spirit into us It begins to form us into His image also. This was the Fathers ultimate Goal for us all. And by that process we become the very son's and daughter's of our Heavenly Father…..Peace to you and yours………gene
September 23, 2007 at 11:32 pm#66692IM4TruthParticipantGen Yes let the Mind that was in Christ Jesus be in you also. But that will happen over time. Just because we are Baptized and received the Holy Spirit that we have His Spirit full strength like Jesus had. Otherwise we would not Sin anymore. And I don't think that anybody alive can say that, do you think? We are the Sons and Daughters because we have His spirit, but we learn daily to overcome flesh. God will make us perfect one Day and the judgement is on His Church now, which we are. That is why I believe why we have to watch how we talk to our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. We can sin and not even be aware of it. Because Love is what the New Commandments are all about we should always say it in Love. More and more God is making me aware of that. So if I have offended anyone I am sorry.
Peace and Love Mrs.:D
September 24, 2007 at 12:06 am#66696GeneBalthropParticipantIM4truth……> it does say we are to grow in grace and knowledge, it seams that as one grows so does the other. And we are told to study to Show (yourself) aproved unto God by rightly deviding the word of truth. We are to grow unto the (full) measure of Christ, and someday hopefully we will.
peace to you and yours…….gene
