@t8
The “chronological links” found on the Forum page do not always display the latest post (currently latest one states 3 days but looking under individuals search found actual last post to be just a few hours old)July 17, 2014 at 9:56 am#434739ProclaimerParticipantFirst, I moved this topic to Help Desk. Hope that is okay.
Yes I have noticed this problem myself and am looking into it. Googling this problem seems to bring up other forums that were imported to WordPress. But I haven’t found a conclusive fix from anyone. It is possible that future updates will fix this without me having to do anything. This often happens with WordPress as new code is being written all the time and issued as updates. It could also be potentially fixed when all forums or topics have a new post which are then stamped correctly with a timer. I just don’t know.
Some have suggested it could be a time zone thing. At the moment, I have it set to NZ time which is ahead of the rest of the world, but the site resides in Texas I think. I may try changing the timezone to where the site is hosted.
Regardless, have you noticed the new widget in the right-hand column. It shows the last 10 forum posts that were made and it works fine.
🙂

July 17, 2014 at 10:22 am#434854mikeboll64BlockedHi t8,
Where can we set notification preferences? I have one thread that sends me an email when someone posts on it. And I have all these “Notifications” every time someone mentions my name.
I don’t want any notifications coming to my email. And it takes a while to delete all those notifications one by one. So we should either have a “Select All”, or “Delete Selected”, or something there. Right now you have to delete one at a time, and it takes some time because the site “reloads” after each one you delete.
July 17, 2014 at 10:30 am#434871mikeboll64BlockedOkay, I saw where you can uncheck the box to receive emails. But these posts are still printing out as bold. Do you see it the same way?
July 17, 2014 at 1:44 pm#435473ProclaimerParticipantNot bold for me. I think you need to delete your cache or reload using CTR and R keys. That will hopefully retrieve the Style Sheet and not just the page like a refresh does. Also I think if you hit the Shift Key and Refresh, that is the same as Reload.
If you do nothing, the style sheet will eventually flush out of your cache. Maybe in 4 days or something like that.
Good that you found that notification setting for email. I personally am just going to leave the notifications there. It makes no difference if they are saved or not. The Message page only shows the latest stuff anyway. The old stuff is archived on page2 etc.
🙂
July 17, 2014 at 1:47 pm#435477ProclaimerParticipantIE is heavy handed with cache. The reason you see the correct font weight in your phone is because the phone is not using IE. They cache heavy because it makes you think the browser is faster. It is because the file is coming from your computer, not the server. But you get old files.
July 17, 2014 at 3:27 pm#435817mikeboll64BlockedI don’t know how to empty the cache. 🙂 I did the reload using control r, and Wm’s first post at the top is normal. All the others are still bold.

Should be more than just time zone because at times it will differ by days
I like the new 10 posts in right column
Thank you for all your efforts

July 17, 2014 at 3:38 pm#435850mikeboll64BlockedOkay………. figured it out. I deleted the cache, and now it’s all good. Thanks for the help, t8. 🙂
July 17, 2014 at 3:58 pm#435943ProclaimerParticipantThanks guys.
The freshness column in the forum home page appears to work now.
I suspect that there just needed to be enough new posts to get an accurate score.
The old posts probably lacked the correct marker for this measurement.
Who really knows. These things are quite complex.
But working now. Let me know if it is not for you.🙂
