There are those that think Christ somehow became a spirit being after his resurrection. They use this scripture –
1 Corinthians 15:45 So also it is written, “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL ” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
Is that what this scripture means?August 14, 2010 at 4:54 pm#209044GeneBalthropParticipantmartian………..I believe the word (became) implies (came to be) Jesus the last Adam came to a point to poses a life giving Spirit and that was at his resurrection. Just like where it says and the word became flesh, we know a word can not be flesh but it implies it came to be (IN) a flesh person Jesus. That is the way i now see it brother.
peace and love…………………….gene

It is not that Jesus is a spirit being “now”, it is that Jesus is now a spirit being “again”; that is what he was before he became man, a spirit being.2Cr 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Adam was created flesh, Jesus was created spirit; where Adam failed, Jesus succeeded; overcoming the one who has the power over sin (death), the devil.
Hbr 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.

One more thing — How do you come to your definition of spirit being?August 14, 2010 at 11:56 pm#209116martianParticipantI would like to know if the afore mentioned scripture can be taken literally?

Now come on everybody should know that, if not then I would say they have not God's Holy Spirit living in them…..In John 3:4-8 Jesus explaines to Nicodemus what Spirit is…. IreneAugust 16, 2010 at 9:27 pm#212365942767ParticipantHi:
Jesus is a man who now has a spiritual body. He has a body, a soul, and a spirit same as before. He has a spiritual body now, not a mortal body and has a spirit of holiness. He will never die again. This is what the scriptures state. They do not say that he is a spirit being.
It is through the same Word of God that he obeyed without sin even unto death on the cross and by his shed blood that he has become a life-giving spirit.
Quote John 6:50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
Quote John 6:62What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Sorry Marty I don't agree with you. There are to many Scriptures, even Jesus own words that says that He was in Heaven with His Father before the world was. Also He came down from Heaven to do the will of Him who send Him. The firstborn of all creation. By Him and through Him all was created that is…. Hi Irene:It is not a matter of liking or disliking. We are Christians and we should love one another as Christ has loved us, and so I love you and God's very best not only for you and your family but for the all of my brothers and sisters in Christ.
We disagree, yes we do, but my prayer is that God will either correct you or me so that we can come into unity. One of us is wrong if we disagree.

Well thank you for those words, I do appreciat them. Not all that are posting here feel like you do, even though you are right and we should all have that attitude, but unfortuanetly that is not always so….we disgrree that we agree on….unity is also what I am asking God for. Maybe we just have to wait until Christ will set us on the straight way…..The most important fact is thAt we love each other like Christ has loved us. To give His life for us, no greater love you will find on this earth today…. '
