Upon this rock, Jesus Christ built his Church

Balancing Rock Girraween

For many Christian denominations, the foundation of their faith is usually a version of the Trinity Doctrine in some form. But is this doctrine really the true foundation of the Church? Let’s take a look at the actual foundation that Jesus Christ built his Church on.

Matthew 16:13-18
13 Jesus came into the country of Caesarea Philippi. He asked His followers, “Who do people say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
14 They said, “Some say You are John the Baptist and some say Elijah and others say Jeremiah or one of the early preachers.”

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 Jesus said to him, “Simon, son of Jonah, you are happy because you did not learn this from man. My Father in heaven has shown you this.
18 “And I tell you that you are Peter. On this rock I will build My church. The powers of hell will not be able to have power over My church.

Read the above clearly. Jesus did not build his Church on Peter. He built it on the truth that Peter spoke concerning the true identity of Jesus Christ. And what was that truth? That Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ.

Peter did not say that Jesus was God or one member of a triune God, yet that is the foundation for many. So what is it that tries to fight against the true foundation? Is it not the Gates of Hell that is trying to prevail against this truth. But for what benefit is there to attack the true foundation of the Church, which is the Body of Christ?

Here is the thing. Roman Catholics believe that the foundation was Peter and this is where their line of Popes supposedly comes from. They also believe that the foundation of their faith is the Trinity Doctrine. Not only are they wrong, but their fruit over the centuries proves that this tree was not good.

So which is it? The Catholic faith or the true faith?

Many do not realise that they side with the Catholic faith. However, it is true that this faith and foundation cannot sustain eternally any work built upon her.

For they labour in vain those who build on another foundation.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 8:6: for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

He also wrote in Ephesians 4:5-6: one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

And Jesus said it so clearly in John 17:3: Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Are you willing to believe the truth about who God is and who Jesus is over any contrary tradition that was passed down to you?

    Hi davidl,

So you really do not believe in your trinity?

The false roman church has tortured and killed millions in defence of this nonsense.

Come out of her lest you suffer for her sins.

    DavidL,

You take certain verses that on there own make you think they deny the Deity of Christ – when in fact they simply don’t. The problem is with your understanding, which is obvious when you’re born again – but to the carnally minded..you think you see the whole picture, when in reality all you see is the tiny walls of the theological rut you’ve dug yourself into.

This is a bunch of speech to back up a false accusation.

First of all Scripture quotes one passage, verse, or even part of a verse to make a point as do you.
Second: Your assertion that something is or is not the case is of no import.
Third: In a conversation you have the right and duty to counter if you have an honest counter.

    DavidL,

The Three are One in Unity…Tri-Unity
You simply cannot have the Father without the Son or the Holy Spirit..period.

You misuse the words of Scripture.

You can come to God but through Jesus Christ the Son of God’s Spirit
God sends his Spirit in Jesus’ name.
You must live by the Spirit in order to inherit the reign of God.

You cannot go to God unless you have the Son and he gives you the Spirit.

God did exist without the Son until he caused Jesus of Nazareth to be made of the Seed of David. (Romans 1:3)

God has always had his own Spirit.

    DavidL,

Who or what is the rock the out assembly of Christ is based on?

You did not answer my question.

Your question avoids a simple fact..

A person cannot have the Father without the Son or the Holy Spirit.

The Three are ONE in Unity.

    DavidL,

You are using vague words that resemble the word of John but do not have the same spirit.

1 John 2:23New English Translation (NET Bible)

23 Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either. The person who confesses the Son has the Father also.

You are denying the Son of God by calling him the one true God. Jesus called the Father the one true God.

God spoke of Jesus and said:

Matthew 12:18New English Translation (NET Bible)

    18
“Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
the one I love, in whom I take great delight.
I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.

The words “I will put my Spirit on him” means he did not have the Spirit already and you know God does not lie.

Galatians 4:6New English Translation (NET Bible)

6 And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls “Abba! Father!”

As of human beings Jesus Christ received the Spirit first and then after Jesus ascended God sent into believers in the name of Jesus Christ.

    Oh come on Kerwin..

Not vague words – just basic logic…

Can a person have the Father without the Son or the Holy Spirit..?
    Simple answer – no..
The Three work together as One.

Well, the truth is that you cannot have “the Son” without the Father. The Holy Spirit is God’s Spirit, not some “third person of a “tri-une God.

    1 Co 2:
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

    Psalm 139:

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

English is often vague which is one reason why miscommunication occurs.

In what way do you mean have?

If you are speaking Spiritually then God lives in a believer through the Spirit and in some manner Jesus does too.

That is the unity of faith but it is not the unity of being the one true God.

Only the Father is called the one true God in Scripture.

Yes, you miss a lot when you rely on your own understanding

True faith is based on the revelation of Jesus Christ

not the dead doctrines of uninspired men – which you promote.

You are entitled to your opinion of course, but to convince those who love the truth, we only ask for scripture. Then we will take a look.

We hold to the truth that the Father is the one true God and Jesus is the son of the one true God.

Please point out there this is wrong so myself and Jesus can be corrected.

Jesus said: “eternal life is this, to know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom he has sent” and you say this is wrong.

    Show us why.

    Thanks in advance.

lol. Basic logic is this, ‘if we accept God has a son, that means God is the Father’.

The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

Oh the irony. Who is God in the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Clue: It isn’t Jesus Christ. Have a guess DavidL Be honest though. At least be honest to yourself. That would help you.

    @DavidL

    You’re flogging a dead horse t8..

So this is what you call the most precious of truths?

For us there is one true God, the Father, and one Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ. This one true God sent his own son into the world to save the world.

And this is what you call a dead horse???

How did it come to this for you. What was the process you went through from finding precious salvation to calling the truth that there is one God the Father as being a dead horse?

You speak poorly of the most precious truths in scripture. Trampling this into the mud by calling it a dead horse. You need to repent because your motivation is not from the Spirit of Truth, but your own pride in wanting your view to be right coupled by the rejection of correction that has been generously given you by myself and others using scriptures that quote our master himself and his apostles.

What brought you to this state? I wonder if you came to God out of love or out of fear of this eternal hell and torment that you believe in. Did you come to God because you sought the truth or out of fear to escape hell. I think the latter. While fear of wrath can drive men to God, these men need to learn to love God and when they do that, they will love the truth because both God and his son are true. But if you came to God because you feared having eternal life in eternal fire (as you believe) then it is also likely that it is fear that keeps you tied to the Trinity because as the Catholic Creed says, there is no salvation for those who do not believe in the Trinity only eternal torment in hell fire.

You poor man. The truth that has been spoken from scripture has been rejected by you out of fear, and instead you wish not to risk getting it wrong, thus hold onto the Trinity Doctrine at all costs. You even do this despite Jesus himself saying that eternal life was to know the only true God as well as himself.

In this you have shown that you trust man over God and his son. You believe the words of those who crafted the Trinity Doctrine over Jesus, Peter, John, Paul, and even the Father himself. As he stated himself, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”. And the very things you fear often come upon you if they rule you. Repent and believe the true message about God and his son. Do not follow the doctrines of men and use scripture as your guide to true doctrine. Further, the Spirit of God will not lead you away from the written truth. If you depart that truth, then it is not the spirit of truth, but another, perhaps even a spirit of fear.

    Pray earnestly about it.
