Yes .
The human spirit leaves a man at death and returns to God
This happened with Jesus at his death jn 19.30
But he is yet alive in the Holy Spirit.
The same can happen with us.
Nick, do you think that the spirit that leaves us is the same spirit that gives us life and gave Adam life? I think it makes sense that this spirit is replaced by God’s Spirit meaning we have life eternal. Our living soul is alive forever more.
But how does this fit with being born-again now? Has this already taken place in a born-again believer? And Paul says that our spirits bear witness with God’s Spirit that we are the sons of God. So this mentions two spirits. Ours and God’s and I assume in unity. This is how we are one with God. Does this not carry on into the next life? Do we lose our spirit that bears witness with God’s spirit?

When a baby is born;he/she breathes air.
That is the breath of life,that make the body alive.
Then all he/she wants is milk and sleep.
Cry if don’t get any.
As he/she grows older, he/she wants more than just milk.
He/she wants some solids and lollies ,as well.
As he/she grows older, he/she wants toys as well,
and the toys gets more and bigger. The spirit of the flesh starts to develop with age.
Then, starts looking at girls or boys.
The spirit of the flesh gets stronger; more wants sets in.
Then as a grown up he/she wants what ever that spirit leads them to. Everyone his own spirit.
Some like to get famous, or be number one.
Some like to be rich and successful in life.
Now that spirit is of the world. Want all what the world can offer.
There are some that desires the spiritual, and starts seeking.
If he/she have found the answers, then will not desire worldly things. He/she have the put away the desires of worldly things. Which is the desires of the flesh.
But only the desires of the spirit, and walk in Christ.
This can also happen later in life, having the renewing of the mind. Having come out of the world and enter into Zion,
the city of God. Unfortunately the majority have been caught
up by the world, and starts to love the world.
The spiritual is of non existence, but just the material.
The spirit of the flesh is only self serving.
What is in it for me, mind set. Everyone for himself.
This will only get worse, greed has set in the spirit.
Greed is like a fire that keeps on burning as long as there is
something to burn. As long as there is money to be made;
one can not stop. Turning themselves into slaves of the material world.
We need to come out of that trap, and come to the city of God,
where there is peace. No money maybe, but still rich in spirit, for we shall inherit all things. Break that bond with the world,
and make a bond with the creator. He will give us food that shall not perish. The world will perish.
