Genesis 1:26

Does the word “us” in Genesis 1:26 mean that God consists of plural persons as the Trinity Doctrine teaches?

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.

Genesis 3:22
Then the Lord God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil

The first verse uses the word Elohim as God, and the second verse uses the words Yahweh Elohim. The plurality of the word “us” is the Father and the Son. So when God says “Let us make man in our image” it is the Father talking to the Son. To put it another way, God talking to the Word (Logos). God created everything through his Word, so it makes sense that God would say “Let us make man in our image”.

Remember Revelation 3:12
Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God.
Never again will he leave it.
I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

John 20:17
Jesus said, Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them,
`I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.

We also need to remember that humans can be referred to as gods/theos/elohim at least according to Psalms 82:6
“I said, `You are “gods” (Elohim); you are all sons of the Most High.’Jesus confirms this truth as he quotes this very scripture to the Jews.

See John 10:34
Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, `I have said you are gods (theos)’

    Hi davidl,

Thomas was in the group that was taught by Jesus that God was in him so his call

was to confirm he had seen his Lord AND His God.

So why would you call him GOD?

    Hi davidl,

If you never hear the voice of the Spirit in Jesus you will constantly be confused about God.

    No confusion…

Jesus Christ is my Lord and my God..!!

    I don’t have a problem with that..

Jesus doesn’t have a problem with that..

The Spirit doesn’t have a problem with that..

The Father doesn’t have a problem with that..

So why should you have a problem with it..?

Because in denying the trinity, you deny the Deity of the Son..!!

But, that is YOUR problem – not mine..!

..a problem you have acquired, NOT by meditating on the Scriptures, but by entertaining the uninspired teachings of carnal men.

    ..so now you have confusion.

    Hi davidl,

    Well Jesus might.

He called the Father his God and our God.

    You disagree?

you have fallen into the realms of logic.. therefore the trinity confuses you..

I know that God is Head of Christ – just as the husband is head of the wife…

but somehow you imagine this headship denies Their Oneness…?

    @t8

If you start with a predefined belief, you end with it because of bias. Then all scripture is twisted toward your own way of thinking.

you understand this about others – but what you fail to realize is the predefined belief in your own teaching…!!!!

all your Scriptures are twisted towards your anti-trinity bias…there is a huge anti-trinity ‘log’ stuck in your vision, but all-the-while you keep on saying, ‘let me get that trinity speck out of YOUR thinking..’ !!!!

Now, you’re seeing specks in everyone that aren’t even there…!!!!

I give you Scripture – but all you see is Catholic dogma….!!!!

    Hi davidl,

You filter scripture through your trinity eyes.

Thy word is truth does not need your adaptation.
