Is Jesus one of us or is he God?

Let’s be clear. Scripture explicitly states that Jesus is the son of God and we are sons of God. Jesus even calls us brothers because we are part of the same family as him. God never calls us brothers. To him we are his children. This doesn’t sound like Jesus is God does it?

What does scripture say about who Jesus is. Let’s take a look.

Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Sons of God

Clearly then, we are the same kind of being as Jesus.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

So both Jesus and us are sons and children of God. We are never brothers to God and God and Jesus are not brothers either. It is written that we will even have the same glorious body as he does.

who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

When we are born from above, we are given a new nature, that is divine nature.

by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature

If not divine nature, then we would still be of the flesh and die in our sins. Instead, we are born again, but we currently remain in a state of flux awaiting our resurrection bodies which will put us at rest and always toward the divine and without sin. Currently we live by divine nature and at other times the flesh nature.

So yes, we know that Jesus was begotten of the Father. So what do you suppose our new birth is?

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come”

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

See. We too are begotten of God.

The difference between redeemed people and Jesus is this. He is the prototype son.

So he is not God as many propose, just as we are not God, even if we have divine nature.

Jesus is the firstborn son among many sons. This is what the Bible teaches.

Jesus Christ did not pre exist except in the foreknowledge of God

This is where you are wrong..

John openly declares He was in the beginning with God.

Jesus prayed, And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world began.

    Just a foreknowledge…?

    you said:

..if what you say is a true representation of the Scriptures, then you should be able to answer my original question – What apostle of Christ ever said – or could have said, “I and the Father are one.”…?

Any apostle who understood what Jesus was saying.

    1 Corinthians 12:12
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.

So if they are of the body of Christ how could any not be one with the Father if Christ is One with the Father?

David are you one with Christ Jesus?
David are you one with the Father?

we can and should be united to Christ as branches in the Vine – but we are not the Vine.

..no man can say of himself, as our Lord did , ‘I and the Father are one.”

Just as no man can say of himself, “Before Abraham was born, I AM.”

This should be easy to acknowledge..

Are you saying that you don’t think Moses and God were one, haven’t you heard about the heavenly praises:

    Revelation 15:3
And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints!

    Who is this Lamb?
Is Jesus a Servant of God like here where it says Moses is a servant of God?

    Acts 3:26Revised Standard Version (RSV)

26 God, having raised up his servant,[a] sent him to you first, to bless you in turning every one of you from your wickedness.”

    Acts 3:13
The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.

    Acts 4:30
while thou stretchest out thy hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of thy holy servant Jesus.”

Who is this servant Jesus? Who does he serve is these verses who does he worship?

    Hi davidl,

A thousand so called inferences do not make one fact.

The fact is that Jesus never said God was a trinity, and never said he was God.

    Listen to him

    Who is this Lamb?

..every believer who acknowledges the truth of the triune nature of God knows the Lamb is Jesus Christ..

..the point is you people emphasize the individuality of Father, Son and Holy Spirit – but deny their unity…this is called Arianism – which originated in the third century with the heretic Arius, who likewise tried to promote his fallacious teaching with the same verse in John 17 that t8 has now adopted on this web site..

“but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.” – Philippians 2:7

Yes, He is the Lamb…yes, He came as a servant – but again you miss the point, Jesus has many crowns and many titles, ALL of which I acknowledge …none of which I deny.

Reproof is bitter – but it is better to taste of it’s bitterness now while there is still time to change, than to carry on in deception until it is too late..

    Hi davidl,

Had you not better find a foundation to stand on before reproving others?

trinity is of man, not God.

    Hi BD,

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith,
Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

As a Christian, DavidL believes Jesus is the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!
You, as a muslim DO NOT – so What are even doing trying to represent what God says when you do not?

Jesus was made in the likeness of men.

    Jesus did not make himself.

Knowing that God designed life so that all things are after its own kind, we cannot afford to miss that truth in learning who Jesus is.

God is spirit, John 4:24. Jesus is human. The two are not of the same kind.

God, choosing to have a son, should have had a son that was spirit, not human.

But he did not, His goal was to redeem mankind, therefore a human was necessary.

God’s love for the world, John 3:16, is made even clearer when we recognize that truth.

God had a son, God is the Father of the lord Jesus Christ and Mary is his mother.

God had a human son. He did not exist until his conception and birth. Matthew 2:11.

God did however foreknow and “foreplan” for a son to redeem mankind, God prepared well in advance for His son, even so much as to prepare glory for him even at the beginning.

    Hi SOG,

He was made a spiritual son by anointing with the Spirit at the jordan.

The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God [rom8]and from that moment he was led by the Spirit. lk4.1
