Acts 1:6-8

Wellington New Zealand

Acts 1:6-8
So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth“.

Where is the furthest point from Jerusalem you may ask? The exact point is located in the South Pacific Ocean. But Papeete in Tahiti is about 1623 km or just over 1,000 miles to the north-northwest. Papeete has a population of just over 25,000 inhabitants. As for cities over 100,000, there are a number cities in New Zealand that qualify. For international cities over 1,000,000 inhabitants, then that is Auckland in New Zealand.

Furthest town or city from Jerusalem

  • Papeete in Tahiti (18,351 km distance)

Furthest cities from Jerusalem with a population of 100,000+

  • Tauranga in New Zealand (16,403 km distance)
  • Hamilton in New Zealand (16,325 km distance)
  • Lower Hutt in New Zealand (16,299 km distance)
  • Wellington in New Zealand (16,277 km distance)
  • Auckland in New Zealand (16,275 km distance)
  • Christchurch in New Zealand (16,084 km distance)

Furthest international cities from Jerusalem with a population of 1,000,000+

  • Auckland, New Zealand (16,275 km distance)
  • Sydney, Australia (14,121 km distance)
  • Brisbane, Australia (14,057 km distance)
  • Melbourne, Australia (13,707 km distance)
  • Santiago, Chile (13,222 km distance)

    Hi t8,

So Jesus promised that his disciples would receive power when the Holy Spirit came on them.

Just as happened with him at the Jordan!

    Hi t8,

Yes the Spirit came down on Jesus as a dove

    and

the Spirit came down on the apostles as tongues of fire to fulfil the promise of Jesus Christ.

Both events led to dramatic changes in speech, powers and abilities.

    Can you see the likeness?

No one is denying that Nick, have you realised that yet? Jesus Christ came in the flesh when he was born in Bethlehem. He was was baptised at the Jordan, this is all clearly written.

Did you know that there is a new topic for discussing this, so would appreciate you going there if you wish to take that further. Flooding the topics with this one discussion makes it hard to keep track of and also makes the other topics go off subject.

Thanks for that. Here is the link for you:

    Hi T8,

Surely this is on the subject of the scripture you posted.

Or should we only talk about NZ?

It is about the end of the world or ends of the world. You can see that as it gives distances of cities from Jerusalem and the text “and to the end of the earth” is even in bold.

We already have a topic about the Jordan and when Jesus was born the Christ which seems to be where you want to steer this.

I will be deleting posts regarding that which are posted in the wrong topic.

There is a rule about flooding forums with the same subject in unrelated topics.

I am trying to keep things tidy so that there is one conversation about Jesus Christ’s birth and his baptism in the Jordan.

I hope you can see the reasoning for this.

    Hi t8,

    I think I understand.

We can talk about the picture and the figures but the scripture is taboo to talk about.

    It is you site.

You can talk about what the uttermost part of the world means. You could for argument sake say that it just means the furthest reaches from Jerusalem that may not be just one place. You could debate the merits of which place is the furthest. Perhaps you could make reference to the gospel in New Zealand or Tahiti. Or maybe debate whether this scripture is now fulfilled. All these and many more ideas would work in this topic.

Yes, I think you can talk about that too as it would be within the topic.

Google gives a slightly different account of the kms from the source I drew them from. I have updated them to reflect Google’s figures.

    Hi T8,

Just like the Athens that Paul visited.

    But more godless.

    Hi,

    Acts 1.8

    But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;

    Lk 3.22

.and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form, like a dove..

    Lk 4.1

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness for 40 days, being tempted by the devil.

We follow the Master into the anointing that made him the Christ.

    Acts 2.36

Therefore Let the house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ- this Jesus whom you crucified.

Yes God made him both Lord and Christ. Yes he was born these as it is written. Many antichrist deny he was the Christ. He was named Jesus and Nick says he was NOT the Christ. But became so later. He was not the Lord, but became so later. In fact, Nick argues that for mnos of his life, he was neither the Christ or Lord.

His teachings are not only strange, but go against the clear testimony of scripture.

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Nick disagrees with the angels testimony, but look at the reaction thereafter.

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,  and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

I can only assume had Nick been there that he would have said, “bah humbug, he is but a mere human infant” and then proceeded to walk off.

Not only did people have a different view to Mick, but also Heaven it seems.

Further, he was also named Jesus before conception by an angel.

On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

But Nick says just a human vessel, nothing to see here folks.

    Hi T8,

Yes the angelic sons know the plan of God.

The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God. Rom 8

Amd that plan was worth the celebrations of heaven and earth.

    One of them said this:

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

See how that baby was the savior, messiah, and Lord. And look at that word ‘today’. Check out its meaning. It is all there for you if you choose to believe it. But doctrines can be hard to shake off.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of him.
