HI TT, is it that you think Lord means God? I hope that is not the case.
Women of the bible commonly refer to men as their Lord.
Christ being a son over his own house was made Lord and Christ by God. Acts 2:36..Heb 3:6July 19, 2009 at 8:14 pm#138059datguyParticipantAs you said in the original post, Christ, showed us how to pray, ie. to the father asking in his name.
Use that example as how to pray and you'll see that John will never say pray to Christ. I think Nick has put it as clear as posibleJuly 15, 2009 at 1:45 am#137610datguyParticipantpeace be unto you all, TT
God, according to you exists by three persons. God=3
However this scripture does not say that the son was sent by the father and his spirit.
The person talking says he was sent by Lord God and his Spirit
If God=3, spirit=1 and the person speaking=1
What we have here is 3+1+1=5 or is this also equal to 1Your doctrine teaches that God is three persons, but wherever God is mentioned in scripture along with christ the word automatically means father
The trinity doctrine is so false, it allows you to say anything at anytime, without condemnation. Eg the Catholics are today saying Mary mother of God…. Simply because Mary is the mother of Jesus, and Jesus according to the trinity is God =Mary, mother of God.July 15, 2009 at 1:12 am#335062datguyParticipantThe KJV, don't have a NASB………..Could you show the difference in translation and what you understand by it please
July 13, 2009 at 7:09 pm#137438datguyParticipantSorry, that question was for the thinker
July 13, 2009 at 7:07 pm#137437datguyParticipantWJ,
Why just a trinity, what about the seven spirits of God that are bowing before his throne in revelation?
Could they be seen as” God the father, God the son, God Holy Spirit and God the seven spirits?”June 23, 2009 at 8:14 pm#134412datguyParticipantJodi, I understand the point you are making and the angle at which you put this mystery into perspective. However, in John chapter 17 Christ is praying to God and says some very important things. In verse 4 and 5 he says (4) I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. (5) And now , O Father, Glorify me with thine own self with the glory I had with thee befor the World was…. Now I can easily says that this scripture goes against what you are saying because he asked God to give him the glory which he had before the world was. This shows some form of existence before the worl was. I'm not saying he always existed but he was before the world was.
I looked at your explanation for the seed of David I'm not sure you understand the point you were making. I'll stsate what I believe and you can comment on it. Scriptures clearly state that christ did come from the seed of David. The argument has been made that Joseph was actually his father based on the origin of the word which was used to describe Mary . Some say that it did not mean she was a virgin but that it just means she was a young woman. I have not done any research myself to say if that's what the word meant so I can't comment that way. What I can say however is that in Matt 1:18 says that Mary was with child of the Holy Ghost before she was espoused with Joseph. Matt 1:25 Joseph knew her not.
Also in Matt 1:16, the previous scriptures show the lineage of Christ traced through David right back to Abraham. It's states who is the father of whom but when it reaches to Christ ist says And Jacob begat Josephthe Husband of Mary, of whom Christ was born. This scripture is totally different to all others mentioning the wife as whom the child was born. Even this scripture is not conclusive so lets look at another which shows clearly that although he came from the lineage Jacob was not his biological father.
Matt 22:41-46 Christ asked the scribes what think ye of Christ who's son is he. They replied by saying he is the son of David. He then asked if he is the son of David how then in the Spirit David said the Lord said unto my Lord sit thou at my right hand. He then said if David called him Lord how be it that he is his son?
If Mary was a Virgn or not based on the word translated I do not Know but what's clear is that his birth was a special one, for he was of the lineage of David yet he wasn't.( Biologically)June 21, 2009 at 9:18 pm#134129datguyParticipantHi Jodi, I understand clearly your explanation of Philipians Chapter 2. What I don't understand however is your use of Christ coming from the seed of David. Is it that you believe Joseph to be his biological father or did I miss your point?
Could you also give your view on Hebrews 1:10,11 as I asked in my previous post, thanks.
Peace be unto you from God the father and our Lord Jesus Christ
June 21, 2009 at 3:28 am#134090datguyParticipantHi Jodi, also the scripture you quoted in Hebrews 1:10,11. And You Lord in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the Heavens are the works of thy hands. They will perish but you will remain.
I believe that this scripture is God speaking to Christ saying ” And you lord in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth.”
Am I right or did I miss the point? Please reply!
datguy………..June 21, 2009 at 3:20 am#134089datguyParticipantHi Jodi, thanks for the information. According to Philipians 2:, Christ was in the form of God, and did not consider it robbery to be equal to God, yet made of himself no reputation taking the image of man………. This scripture suggest that he was in the form of God. Could you please then say when was it so. Please explain to me I really want to know.
June 18, 2009 at 4:29 pm#133914datguyParticipantThanks for replies, I believe there is one God who is the father. 1Corinth 8:5,6
I believe that Jesus Christ is his son John 3:16
Christ who is the word became flesh, but I do believe there was a point before creation he did not exist Colossians 3:10The scripture says that the word was God,not is God. Understanding that God is a title and not a name. Could it be that christ was the God of Israel, not is the God, of Israel, but was. Seeing that God created the world by him but the creation of the world itself was works of Christ's hands. Col 1:16 and Hebrews 1:10.
In Psalms 45:6, David being filled of the Holy Ghost prophesies of what is going on in the spirit relm. This is then quoted by Paul in Hebrews 1. This is when Christ who was in the form of God,( Phillipians 2:5) was being God to Israel. Christ then left his Glory to introduce men who believe to his father for the world knew not his father. John 17:25.
His father is then described as the only Potentate, the invisible God, the one dwelling in the light that no man can approach. 2 timothy 6:13-16. The one whom no man hath seen nor can see.
Peace be unto you allJune 16, 2009 at 11:27 pm#133779datguyParticipantHi all, the trinity doctrine seems to be right because they added Holy before it. What I realize is that it allows someone to confess anything about Christ and about God. Bd,you just confessed that Christ is your God, but he disagrees with you. In John 20:17 Christ clearly states who is his God and our God. 1Corinthians 8:5 clearly states who is God. The answer is always the same the Father of Christ is our Father, the God of Christ is our God.
Don't let the term Lord be a stumbling block to your salvation. It pleased the father (Who is God) that everything dwells in his son. We believing that the Christ came in flesh through Peter's confession in Matt 16:16, show that we believe God's record that he sent his son, it shows that we believe the son's record that his father sent him. When we begin to confess that God himself came( Trinity doctrine) we are no longer standing on the rock on which Christ has built his Church. How do we know the Spirit of God? Whoever confesses that Jesus is the son of God the Spirit of God dwells in him. That's how we try the spirit.
If the son also is God, how is it he does not know the day of Judgement. Matt 24:36 and Mark 13:32
Peace be onto you all from God the father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
June 15, 2009 at 5:06 pm#133543datguyParticipantGene, there is a baptism of the spirit, I'm not disagreeing. Your points of cleaning inside the cup are also correct but it does not stand alone. Why are we suppose to be baptized in the name of Jesus, this is the simple answer, because the apostle's did so not of their own accord but by christ through the Holy spirit as was promised. I realise that you acknowledge that they did baptize with water, so why shouldn't we now…. where in the word says it is no longer required? Christ came to fulfill the law ie no longer did they have need to sacrifice lambs but he took that place, no longer did they need to go to priest to interceed for them but Christ assumed the role as the highpriest before God for us. No longer was confessing sins to John's baptism needed but baptism by water and Spirit in the name of the Lord Jesus. They go hand in hand..don't they?
June 15, 2009 at 3:52 am#133491datguyParticipant1 Corinthians chpt8 verses 5 & 6. Though there be Lords many and Gods many (understanding that satan is god of this world) to us there is only one God, the father of whom are all things and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things and we by him…… If there really was a place that the apostle Paul neglected to prove that the trinity exist, it was here. A perfect place to explain the three in one, or one as three and he blew it. Paul aint backing up that false doctrine so neither am I. There is only one God who is the father. This is the God that Christ left his glory to show us, for the world never knew the father … John 17:25 Father the world hath not known thee, but I have known thee……… Believe that Christ is the son of God and on that great day he'll show who is the Poentate dwelling in the light no man can approach
June 15, 2009 at 3:29 am#133488datguyParticipantPeace be unto you all in the name of God the father and our Lord Jesus Christ. No doubt there is one baptism, one faith one lord etc… This one baptism means that there is only one way to be baptised , that is in the name of Jesus. Nick is correct the apostle's did not do their own thing but were taught all things by the Holy Ghost. The doctrine of Christ and the apostle's is the doctrine that christians are suppose to be walking in. The book of Acts has multiple occurances where the apostle's baptized with water namely with Cornelius and with the Eunuch. Acts chapter 8 verses 37,38. The eunuch asked what hinders him from being baptized, and after confessing that Jesus is the Christ/ Son of God he was baptized with water. Paul wrote in his letters if anyone brings any other doctrine that what they the apostle's have taught even if it were an angel of God ( Understanding that Satan can appear in the glory of an angel of God) you should rebuke that doctrine. following in the apostle's doctrine is essential for by that do we judge what is and is not of God and of his Christ
