HI, t8,
Many persons have trouble understanding empathy. That’s the problem.

HI again, t8,
Again, I suggest you do a better job of reading teh pre-Nicene fathers. Take Irenaeus. What he actually says is that the Spirit and Son are the two hands of God, two modes of activity by which God is present. Hence, he writes, ” It is the Word of God, the Son of God, Jesus Christ Our lord, by whom all things were made…” If a…[Read more]

Hi, Marty,
I’m sorry, but I have no time to read sites you are others may refer me to. I want to talk to you, not them. I want to hear what you have to say, not them.

Hi, t8,
I’d suggest you do a more careful reading of the pre-Nicene fathers.

HI, Kerwin,
I don;’t think you quite get the picture about what I am speaking of, or James , for that matter. What James is talking about is being tempted to the extent you actually carry it out. What I am talking about is a bit different. An effective therapist can empathize with teh feelings of a client withy out desiring to carry them out.…[Read more]

Hi, Kerwin,
Gee,thanks for your big vote of confidence in psychology.

Hi, Marty,
You have to look at all the biblical passages, not just some, as you are doing here. For example, the prologue d0es in fact identify Christ with God. The problem, as I have indicated not many times, is that other passages, such as you are citing here, can be very subordinationalistic. That’s what I mean when I say the Bible provi…[Read more]

Hi again, Andrew,
There are a number of other biblical passages that support the Trinity, such as Rom. 1:4, I Cor. 2:3, Philip. 2:6, Eph. 6:6, to name a few. Also, the basic theme running throughout the NT, well, really, throughout the whole Bible, is that only the God who created us can save us, that we are in too deep to save oursel…[Read more]

He, Andrew,
I think you have kind of gone way off the deep end, in your comments about my posts. In some matters, yes, I agree with the fathers; in others, no. Is that a problem for you or what?

Hi, Marty,
According to Jn. Christ is a preexistent, sentient being, however. Christ is God, and certainly God is preexistent and sentient.

Hi, Andrew,
Thanks for the clarification. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

HI, Kerwin,
Well, I guess those of us who have worked as psychotherapists won’t be on your Chrisman cared list. What a shame.

Hello, Kerwin,
Phew! Sure am glad you decided to give me a break and not mess with me. Big guy like you, well, you’d just make mincemeat outta me.

Hello, Kerwin,
You’d be surprised how much of what you can imagine, does exist, or at least has a basis in actual matters of fact. Take all those horror films about the Bogey Man. Yes, they are fiction to a large extent, but not wholly so . Read some time about the true story of Ed Gein (sp.), a real bogey man, in the late 50’s, who lived…[Read more]

Hello, Kerwin,
My goodness, do tell. Here I majored in the subject and even earned a graduate degree and had absolutely no idea. Well, it’s just too bad I didn’t have you for an instructor.

Hi, Marty,
Yes, those biblical passages you cite do profess subrodinationism. That touches on my earlier point that the Bible is not a book of systematic metaphysics, gives but conflicting snap shots of how God is actually built. Here, Chris seems to be portrayed as one personality subordinate to the commands of the Father, who alone app…[Read more]

Hi, Kerwin,
Sorry, don’t buy your argument. Too much excuse-making for trying to hit below the belt, so to speak., as well as other poor communication skills. Also, as you rightly indicated, flaming is a way of getting off the hook. Finding yourself frustrated to come up with a solid counter-argument, the thing you are tempted to do is to try a…[Read more]

Hi, Kerwin,
I don’t know where you are coming from with your above statement about faith in God. Where does this fit into the ongoing discussion? Offhand, I am inclined to disagree with you. Faith in God is a kind of proof for God. All our concepts, no matter how imaginative some may be, are rooted in reality. Human imagination is never ver…[Read more]

Hello again, Kerwin,
You say that researchers have reached the same conclusion? What same conclusion? What researchers? As I mentioned n an earlier post, modern psychiatry no longer stigmatizes gays and lesbians as having mental-health disorders.
