HI, Ed,
If the bike is something you are using, one of your tools, then in a very real sense it is you parked down the road; it is you in the sense your hand would be you if it were down the road, got blown off. It’s like your toothbrush. You really can’t tell where you end and it begins. That’s why others would not want to use it. Your blo…[Read more]

Hi, Kerwin,
Sorry, I don’t follow you when you talk about suppressing your natural inclinations. What do you mean by that? Also, if yu are actively involved with a church, it may have some solid theological resources available.

Hi, Kerwin,
You might find it helpful to take some courses in theology.

Hi, Kerwin,
Yes, true.

HI again, t8,
Remember, you are not just citing Scripture. You are most immediately going on your understanding of Scripture, your interpretation. Question is, How accurate and reliable of a source are you on Scripture? I have my doubts there.

HI again, t8,
It’s a great idea to pull out the fathers. However, you have to be more honest and go into more detail about them. Tatian was initially Trinitarian, then changed his mind. Origen, who also was not Trinitarian, was later declared a heretic. In that you missed these point about Tatian tells me you were careless in your studies…[Read more]

hi, t8,
Alright, let’s roll with the tool example, though this isn’t exactly the way the Bible depicts Christ’s relationship to God. Yes, when leg is amputated, that still is part of me. Many persons report they can still feel the presence of their leg. Truth is, we are all omnipresent, though in a very limited sense of the term. …[Read more]

HI, Kewrwin,
Oh, OK, I see. Everyone in the universities is biased. I guess you would know. You just told me you have a seventh-grade education. I take that to mean no college education. So yes, I guess from the sidelines you have such a clear view of university life. Everyone is biased, but not you, of course. This is precisely the probl…[Read more]

Hi, Kerwin,
That is also my point. Views our culture had of homosexuality and other forms of sexual practices were not always rational or anything but a sanctified form of sexual oppression.

HI, Andrew,
Being sensitive is part of being a good theologian. In the scholarly world, you get marked off, and rightly so, for trying to dump on your opponent’s character. “Heat” is one thing, dumping on someone’s character is something else altogether. Also, your “ribbing” is rude and uncalled for. Save that for some place else, would you…[Read more]

Hi, Kerwin,
We are all subject to cultural influences, which is not all bad. I will grant you that I work out of a very different environment than you do. However, it is also true that political correctness, if that is what you want to call it, is encouraged in most work places and with good reason.

Hi, t8,
The Bible makes it clear that the Logos or Word is God, is God’s Reason. Certainly God’s Reason is God. As far as tools per se go, yes, the tool and the tool user are ontologically one. I am my hands, they are me, for example. I play French horn. The horn is my tool. When I play well and right, the horn is ontologically part of me,…[Read more]

HI, t8,
The prologue to Jn, for example, sys that the Word is God, not just some image of God. In the Bible, the Word is the creator of all things. Now, unless you are a gnostic and believe that a lesser god or evil god, way down the totem pole, created the world, the Bible is making it very clear that Word is ontologically God.

HI, t8,
That may be the problem. You may well have been looking at the Trinity as expressed in these forms. However, that is a long, long way from the Trinity as represented out there, in the real world of doctrine and teachings. The fact you feel unfamiliar with what I have had to say tells me right there there’s a whole world of Tri…[Read more]

Hi, Kerwin,
No, inflammatory rhetoric is not just in the yes of teh beholds. It has to do with making disrespectful remarks that cast aspersion on the character of your opponents. You need to stick with the arguments, and not try and win by cheating and denouncing your opponent as some sort of lost soul, etc.

HI, Kerwin,
Oh, OK, I’m unduly subject to cultural influences, but you aren’t, I suppose. C’mon. Generally, universities encourage students and faculty to us respectful language. That’s the essence of political correctness. You have a problem with that?
hoghead1 replied to the topic Why are some people homosexual? in the forum Scriptural Teachings 8 years, 5 months ago
Hi, t8,
The question remains, however, why you consider homosexuality something weak or inappropriate. If your argument is that teh Bible forbids it, then what are your standards for cherry picking, for determining what biblical laws you will follow and what not? What makes you think it’s OK for you to eat ham, but not be homosexual, for ex…[Read more]

Hi again, t8,
Einstein was, interestingly enough, a horrible student who could barely get anything but a flunky job and even that took considerable pull from some friends in influential places. Einstein had a one-track mind. What he was into, he was really into. What bored him, he simply skipped, which was most of the subjects taught in s…[Read more]
