Martian,I'll try to be rational here, ok? My first question is, on what basis do you translate the Hebrew in Genesis as “functional/dysfunctional,” rather than “good/evil”? Every Bible I've seen translates them as good and evil. How does the Septuagint translate them? Is there any scholarship you can show us to support this translation? A…[Read more]

Right, John 17. I had an extensive discussion with David about this a month ago, and the conclusion I asserted, which no one has rejected yet, is that just as the Father and the Son are one God, the church should be one body and one spirit with the Lord. 1 Corinthians 6:17, 12:12.John 17:21-22, “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are…[Read more]

Jesus answered them, “If he called them gods, unto whom the Word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; say ye of Him, Whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? “If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not Me, believe the…[Read more]

Quote What did Jesus say? “ye are theos”.No, Jesus said, “Ye are theoi.” Plural. I would hope no one would compare the so-called theoi with the true Theos.

Nick,It does not say “the Word was a son begotten in the beginning.” First of all, show some reverence and capitalize the Son of God. Second, we know from John 1:1 that the Word wasn't begotten in the beginning, He already was in the beginning! That's why the Definition of Chalcedon says, “begotten of the Father before the ages.” Before the…[Read more]

One of the implications of dualism is that everything except God was created out of nothing. This should be fairly obvious from Genesis 1. God spoke, and whatever He decreed to exist came into existence. The only alternative is that creation came out of God, but this would amount to pantheism, the idea that everything is God. God is the source…[Read more]

Hi t8,Quote You can't have it both ways, he is either from God or God himself.I think you are conflating the nature/substance of God with the personality of God. You are starting from the assumption that God is one person. But that is the issue we're discussing. You can't offer an assumption as evidence when the assumption is disputed. Now…[Read more]

Nick, how come you're allowed to use logic but I can't? No fair. No, Nick, I don't believe “Jesus was begotten as a son of God in the beginning,” I believe He is the only begotten Son of God, begotten before the ages. It says the Christ is consubstantial with humanity, so He is exactly the same as, consubstantial with, Mary. He is also exactly…[Read more]

Where does it say that Jesus reflects God? It says that Jesus is the Radiance of God's glory. The radiance comes directly from the source. A reflection bounces off of another object.
