May I worship the Holy Spirit? I can't recall of an instance in the Bible where this happened but it is OK, is it not? The OT is chock full of worship to Yahweh, which is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the NT we see Jesus being worshiped, the Father being worshiped, so it would make sense that the Holy Spirit, as part of Yahweh, was to be worshiped.
I am concerned about this one statement made by Jesus however:
John 4:23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
Am I to gather from this that the true worshipers worship the Father and not the Holy Spirit or Jesus?
July 3, 2007 at 1:01 pm#57770acertainchapParticipantNo it's not ok. The Holy Spirit is of God which he pours out on Mankind. There is not a trinity therfore please Worship God. See my new “anti-trinity” topic, please. I have gathered Biblical proof to support this. Please worship God and not his spirit.

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
*The Holy Spirit is important because God the Father seals you as his child through his spirit. Likewise God the Father accomplished his work through the Holy Spirit and his Son the Lord Jesus Christ. I take it that God wants people to worship him and him alone. Where does that leave Jesus then in worship?
“Am I to gather from this that the true worshipers worship the Father and not the Holy Spirit or Jesus?”
Read these verses…
Ephesians 1: 3-10
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”
Ephesians 1: 15-23
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
These verses are indicative that Christ sits at God the Father's right hand. God the Father shares his Glory, Rule, Authority, etc. with his Son the Lord Jesus Christ. I take from this that it is ok to worship God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ but not the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit is OF GOD and is the manifestation of God on earth.
But we do not worship the finger of God [Lk11] but God Himself.July 3, 2007 at 7:57 pm#57809acertainchapParticipantBy “finger” you mean his [holy spirit] works?
July 3, 2007 at 8:47 pm#57828NickHassanParticipantHi ACC,
Presuming that you are asking me.
No.
The Spirit is of God and must be treated with the respect due to God as Acts 5 shows.
The Spirit is the means by which the nature and powers of God are expressed through vessels -men and angels- on earth.
God is ever in heaven.July 3, 2007 at 9:07 pm#57837acertainchapParticipantYes.

I have yet to meet the man who believes God is multiperson who tells us he worships the Spirit of God.June 17, 2008 at 10:39 pm#93194Worshipping JesusParticipantHi all.
God is Spirit. So if God is Spirit and God is Holy are we not worshipping Spirit, for God is Spirit?
June 17, 2008 at 10:42 pm#93196NickHassanParticipantHi WJ,
So you are not helped by the Spirit to worship God?Rom8
26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
June 17, 2008 at 10:47 pm#93198NickHassanParticipantHi WJ,
Those that cannot grasp the work of the Spirit of God among those in Christ make our God like an external icon, not different to any other worldly god.But the Spirit of God joins us and binds us and connects us to our loving God.
June 18, 2008 at 4:03 pm#93305gollamudiParticipantAmen to that post
