    Probably the most significant point regarding Japan is that the chap, whoever he was, said that christianity has no substance for young people.

    No substance.

    In Japan christianity has remained at 1% for the past 450 years.

    What is the point here?

    They don't believe in God and they have had greater exposure to radiation and more earthquakes than anyone.

    My point is that regardless of why, what makes them right? Do they enjoy a greater quality of life? Is that what you are saying? Because I have to disagree if that is your point.

    I was given out LBW when even the groundsman could hear that I had edged the ball into the pad.

    There's a relevant analogy for a change!

    O I see, the idea is to keep the ball away from the bat!

    all good!

    Properly, we should read for power. Man reading should be man intensely alive. The book should be a ball of light in one's hand.

    I've commented before on that chart. I said that to me it fulfills the prophecy made in the Bible, Zechariah 13:8, to the porportion of those to make it in the end. And from the numbers, it seems to me to be very soon, because they match. A commentary I agree with-

    “And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord,…. Either in all the land of Israel, as Kimchi interprets it; or rather in all the world, as Aben Ezra and others; for this prophecy seems to have respect, not to the calamities of the Jews at the destruction of Jerusalem, after the death of Christ, when a few were saved, a remnant according to the election of grace, yet so as by fire, for whose sake the days of tribulation were shortened; but to the external state of the church, and the trouble of it throughout Christendom, about the time of the destruction of antichrist:

    two parts therein shall be cut off and die; all hypocrites, formalists, and outward court worshippers; who seem as if they would be at this time two thirds of the professors of true religion; who will not be able to stand the hour of temptation that will come upon all the earth, to try the inhabitants of it; which will be the last struggle of the beast of Rome, Revelation 3:10 but will be twice dead, plucked up by the roots; will die to the profession of religion, and be cut off from the people of God, and have no more a name with them:”

    I think it is the season of change. I do NOT think the world will end 12-21-12, because it is written “no one knows the day or the hour”. Going downtown this morning I saw a curious billboard, with bold letters, announcing “JUDGEMENT DAY-May 21, 2011″. Well, that counts that day out. Just alot of people making donkeys out of themselves trying to be the ones to call it, but ” Beware, I come like a thief in the night”……….

    I haven't been able to be on in a while because of work, and the shock from Uncle Sam last week made it worse, so to all- I miss ya'll, I pray that you all are well and blessed and had a good Easter! Peace and much love-Mark

    A quick google reveals that many think there are about 2.1 billion Christians representing about one-third of humanity.

    If that is the case, then was there a time when there was a higher percentage than that?

    Like I said, I googled it and looked at the first few links.

    Don't have time to check the sources. I am in the middle of a sci-fi video at the mo which takes precedence.

    This is the chart I was referring to.

    How will you make it? You are going to die, or be alive when the world ends, so how do you plan to make it? As I understand you don't believe in anything spiritual, so the end is the end for you, whenever and however it is, correct? We came from nothing and are going to nothing IYO.

    I believe in the spiritual aspect of feeling some awe at the amazing good fortune of having been born as a primate with a brain big enough to acquire some comprehension of how the universe works, and to understand my place within it. I'm not sure what you mean by “the world ending” but the planet will exist for about another 5 billion years, but will become too hot to inhabit in about 1 billion years from now due to the expansion of the sun as it becomes a red giant.

    Assuming humans don't succumb to extinction as we nearly did several times in the past few million years, then we will be adapting to those environmental changes until our pace of change cannot keep up with them and we will go extinct. At that stage we will not be anything like what we are now, just through evolutionary change by genetic drift even if nothing else.

    So, in what sense do you mean that the world will end? What evidence do you have to support this claim?

    Indeed the universe came from nothing, but it will likely go to a dead universe in which all matter and energy is spread out evenly. That is a very long time away. I did not come from nothing; you and I both came from unbroken lines of descent that go back 4 billion years.

    In what other sense can any human “make it through” than this? This is the only life you or I know we have, and there is no evidence to contradict it being the only life there is. I don't intend to just “make it through”, I hope to live this brief, astonishing presence on earth as fully as I can before my atoms are recycled (they are recycled completely while we are alive anyway).

    Are you suggesting I should believe in some celestial conspiracy theory, choosing between the one you accept and all the ones you have rejected? That way madness lies, and spiritual dishonesty too methinks!

    I am blind because I laugh at the idea that we have the amazing good fortune of having been born with IQ's with a median score of 100 and we marvel at the works of a force that has the IQ equivalent to a gumboot.

    Something doesn't add up with your view Stu.

    Then again, you are a self-confessed ape, but even an ape has a higher IQ than a gumboot, so you still have no excuse for being foolish.

    Can't find a counter that shows the current numbers of adherents for each religion.  On such a clock the numbers of christians would be increasing numerically in line with the increase in world population, but as a percentage of the total world population the numbers of christians would be seen to be falling.

    the only reason why you are alive is because ,you got out of Africa wilderness,and live in city;s and government that promote christian believes ;

    see what happen in Africa to those who staid or could not do what you did or you parents did ect;

    may be you should go back there to really have a taste of what it is or like it was long ago when there was no christian value,and all were living from there own FEELINGS,rape,murder,and what not ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;survival of the strong.

    Indeed natural selection involves no intelligence at all. It does appear to be amazing to humans who design things that the illusion of design in nature is entirely blind and reactionary.

    Still that is the fact of the matter.
