Yes we must be steadfast in “The Word” of God!
Peter warns against any private interpretation of Prophecy.  

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” (2 Peter 1:20)

So we must carefully consider fulfilled Prophecy, and not just “scoff it off”
in favor of 'a private interpretation of Prophecy', wouldn't you agree?
