    Why is Christianity today so divided in belief?
    Actually, division goes back to the earliest Church.
    If the Spirit of truth leads us into ALL truth then why are we all being led into different truths?

    Is it because when the spirit of truth begins to work in man, they then start to look outside of the them-self,
    rather than trust the Spirit to lead them?

    this is only true IF WE HAVE A TRUE AND PURE HEART ,AND LOOKING FOR GODS TRUTH NOT OURS,

    If a man as gain the truth of God and his following it ,it is good in deed ,but this spirit can become lost if the man heart becomes corrupted just as Solomon heart became corrupted and Saul the first king of Israel and some others ,long list,

    PR 2:2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
    Incline your heart to understanding;
    PR 2:10 For wisdom will enter your heart
    And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
    PR 3:1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
    But let your heart keep my commandments;
    PR 3:3 Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
    Bind them around your neck,
    Write them on the tablet of your heart.
    PR 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
    And do not lean on your own understanding.
    PR 4:4 Then he taught me and said to me,
    “Let your heart hold fast my words;
    Keep my commandments and live;
    PR 4:21 Do not let them depart from your sight;
    Keep them in the midst of your heart.
    PR 4:23 Watch over your heart with all diligence,
    For from it flow the springs of life.

    2besee, I know of some that started out believing in God and knew His will, but let emotions control what they now hold on to.
    On man was a preacher in Ok. while watching the TV about the genocide going on in Africa he was despondent about all those people and of his own Grandparents who were not Christians, said he heard a voice saying that because that Jesus died for all then all are saved automatically so no one goes to Hell.
    You don't have to accept Jesus and don't even have to live for Him.

    He was immediately banished from most Christians and an became a outcast, but stuck with his view all because of the emotions he felt, and it sounded good to him.

    I know people who are going to fulfill the scriptures when Jesus said to some that He never knew them. These had to people who was convinced in themselves that they were right, but they were not right about salvation.

    I do believe you can be saved and not know the truth in all things. It does not require works to be saved and it does not require works to stay saved. (or if you don't believe in speaking in tongues you will still go to Heaven because of your faith in the redemptive work of Jesus)

    You will work what you believe. Nothing wrong with works if it is based on grace and faith

    The division in the church began when the Catholic church began adding doctrines to God's Word. Doctrines such as the Trinity and the doctrine of original sin, and that Jesus is God the Son and Mary was sinnless and countless others, were added God's Word, and they also instituted various practices such as praying to the virgin Mary and to the saints, and the inquisition. Then, of course, if anyone did not agree with their doctrines the were heretics.

    Then came Martin Luther and the protestant reformation, but many of the doctrines of the Catholic church still are retained by the protestant denominations.

    These denominations are based on what they interpret in the Word of God differently than another denomination, and these denominations are not willing to discuss their differences, and if they cannot agree after this, they are not willing to pray asking God to bring them into unity. Pride keeps them from being willing to admit they are wrong, and accept correction.

    Also, there are those in authority in the so called orthodox church who have exalted themselves to their position of authority. They are not ordained by God. Some are considered cults.

    The ministry is not like any other profession. In this profession, it is God who ordains the person to a particular position in the body of Christ. Man cannot give you a degree and say that you are qualified to be a pastor.

    There may be other reasons for the division in the church. These are just some things which I have seen that cause division.

    HI Marty

    scriptures are disagreeing ;the Catholic corruption arrived wen the true church was fully corrupted already;

    1Co 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.
    1Co 1:11 My brothers, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.
    1Co 1:12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas’”; still another, “I follow Christ.”
    1Co 1:13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?
    1Co 1:14 I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,
    1Co 1:15 so no one can say that you were baptized into my name.
    1Co 1:16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.)
    1Co 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

    1Co 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

    1Jn 2:18 Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye heard that antichrist cometh, even now have there arisen many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour.
    1Jn 2:22 Who is the liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, even he that denieth the Father and the Son.
    1Jn 4:3 and every spirit that confesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the spirit of the antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already.
    2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are gone forth into the world, even they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

    Hi all, thank you and that is true what you each said.

    I did a small study on what Jesus meant when he said: 'Watch that you are not deceived' and this is what I found:

    The original word in the Greek is not deceived but mislead:

    'Take heed, lest anyone you mislead'

    YOU… mislead !

    Context (Greek):
    'What is the sign of your coming, and the completion of the age?
    And having answered, Jesus said to them, take heed, lest anyone you mislead,
    Many indeed will come in the name of me, saying, I am the Christ; and many they will mislead'.

    http://biblos.com/matthew/24-4.htm

    So the warning (it appears) is not only telling us to beware that we are not misled,
    but also to take heed that WE do not MISLEAD OTHERS.

    It is easy to see how we can do that.

    Jesus goes on to say (in verse 10) that many false prophets will arise (and will mislead MANY).

    And that love will grow cold.
    And hate and betrayal will grow.
    And lawlessness will increase.
    And many will fall away.

    In the letters to the churches in Revelations:

    'I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.'

    'But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice immorality. So you also have some who hold the teaching of the Nicola'itans. Repent then. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth.' '

    'But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jez'ebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and beguiling my servants to practice immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her immorality. Behold, I will throw her on a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her doings; and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches shall know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.'

    `I know your works; you have the name of being alive, and you are dead. Awake, and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God. Remember then what you received and heard; keep that, and repent. If you will not awake, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.'

    `I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.
    For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing; not knowing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
    Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.
    Those whom I love, I reprove and chasten; so be zealous and repent.'

    could you explain what is the difference if we using “deceive” ??? in what way would our condition be better or worse ????

    NU 22:20 God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, rise up and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you shall you do.”

    NU 22:38 So Balaam said to Balak, “Behold, I have come now to you! Am I able to speak anything at all? The word that God puts in my mouth, that I shall speak.”

    NU 23:27 Then Balak said to Balaam, “Please come, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will be agreeable with God that you curse them for me from there.”
    NU 23:28 So Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor which overlooks the wasteland.
    NU 23:29 Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me here.”

    DT 23:5 “Nevertheless, the LORD your God was not willing to listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because the LORD your God loves you.

    Jude 1:10 Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals—these are the very things that destroy them.
    Jude 1:11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.
    Jude 1:12 These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead.
